Story
We’ve had major since he was five months old. He grew up with two dogs on a farm with chickens. He loves attention and wants to be by your side. I almost changed his name to shadow when he was young. He loves to go on hikes and walks. He would do better with a bigger piece of property and a job to do like watching chickens or livestock. He loves to cuddle. We sold our property and moved into a neighborhood and he doesn’t have the room to run as he used to. He is not good with other dogs he doesn’t know. He has been around my friends‘s kids and my nieces and nephews and is great with kids five and older. he’s never shown any aggression towards my infant son but did growl at him while Major was eating and my son crawled up to his bowl. he talks a lot like a Catahoula and is very protective of his family.

Story
UPDATE!!&#226&#156&#168 Meet Peppa. A Good Samaritan found her and her siblings under a shed. When a volunteer went out to capture, 2 more siblings and a sweet momma dog was found. Thankfully, between us and Misfits out of Mississippi, we were able to capture and get everyone into foster before this last freeze. We secured a foster for all 6 babies and Misfits took the sweet and beautiful momma who is available for adoption through them. The babies have settled in, received first vaccines and parasite treatment and are doing well. We believe they are 9-10 weeks old. Mom is gorgeous catahoula mix and dad is unknown. We do believe they will be larger sized adults. They are utd, altered and adoption ready.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you! Story
UPDATE!!&#226&#156&#168 Meet Lainey (3–4 years old)! Lainey is a happy, playful girl who loves fetch and enjoys spending time with both humans and other furry friends. She’s always wearing a smile and brings joyful energy wherever she goes. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion with a sweet spirit, Lainey could be your perfect match Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $145 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Story
FROM FORGOTTEN TO FREE: MEET CHANTERELLE She was found in heartbreaking condition — forgotten, vulnerable, and running out of time.Today she is healthy, thriving, and running for the sheer joy of it.Meet Chanterelle. A two-year-old Coonhound mix with soulful eyes, an unstoppable spirit, and more love to give than she`s ever been allowed to show. She has been through more than any dog ever should — but you would never know it. Because Chanterelle didn`t just survive. She came back swinging.THE FUN SIDEThis girl was born to run. Chanterelle is pure energy and enthusiasm wrapped in four legs and a wagging tail. Give her a yard, a trail, or even just a long stretch of grass and she will remind you what it looks like to be completely, joyfully alive. She follows her nose like it`s her full time job and approaches every adventure like it`s the best day of her life — because with the right family, every day finally will be.THE SWEET SIDEAfter the zoomies come the snuggles. Once Chanterelle has burned off her energy there is a quieter, softer side that settles in beside you. She wants to be near her people. She wants to feel safe. There is a stillness in her when she finally relaxes — like a dog who has spent a long time waiting to exhale and is only just learning that it`s okay to breathe. She knows something shifted. She just needs you to show her it`s permanent.HER PERFECT DAYMorning run through the yard. Nose deep in every interesting smell along the way. Afternoon nap nearby while you go about your day. Evening curled up close — content, safe, and finally home. That life is one application away.Chanterelle is waiting for YOU. She has waited long enough.Fill out your online adoption application today and our team will reach out to schedule your meet and greet. We have a feeling it won`t take long for her to choose you.Every adoption at The Haven saves two lives — the one you take home and the one who gets a second chance because you made room.ADOPTION PACKAGE:ADOPTION FEE -- $200Your $200 adoption fee covers everything your new best friend needs to start their new life with you:• Spay or neuter surgery• Up to date vaccinations including rabies vaccine and tag (ages 3 months and older)• Microchip and registration• Deworming• Heartworm test and treatment if positive (ages 6 months and older)• Flea, tic
