I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Tugboat! Tugboat is a friendly and charming Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who is ready to find his forever home. At 3 years old, Tugboat has a mature and mellow demeanor, making him a good companion for anyone looking for a calm and loving dog. we got an update from his foster family, and they shared that " Tugboat has been adjusting well! He was clearly trained before, and has been picking up our hand signals quickly. If he could, he would follow you everywhere, and he likes to find a spot to lie down nearby and spend the day with you. He isn’t cuddly in the sense that he will crawl in your lap, but he loves hugs and pats and lying down with you on the couch or bed (though he will go to his bed when asked). He is such a softy! He’s extremely gentle with taking treats, doesn’t rip up his toys, ignores other dog on walks, doesn’t jump, and I’ve only heard him bark once. When he’s really happy he ‘smiles’ or taps his front feet on the ground. He’ll be active when it’s time to go out, and otherwise chills with his people." Tugboat is deaf, but that doesn't stop him from being a wonderful and capable companion. He is house-trained when given regular access to go outside, ensuring a smooth transition into his new home. He also knows how to sit, lay down, and take treats gently. This sweet boy has a beautiful coat with unique patterns and striking eyes that make him stand out. Tugboat loves to go on leisurely walks, explore new places, and relax by your side. He's affectionate, enjoys being around people, and would thrive in a quiet and patient home where he can receive the attention and care he deserves. He's ready to bring love and joy into your life and will reward you with endless companionship! Click here to learn how to adopt him. May 26, 2024, 2:32 am

Story
Lexi is an awesome dog! She is super friendly, and loyal, bonding quickly to her people. She loves to play a game of fetch, and looks to her people to learn, play, engage and have FUN! Lexi does well with her commands such as sit, lay down, take it and drop it. Because she is a high energy dog she would do best in an active household who have experience with large dogs (she weighs ~55+lbs). She is quite food motivated, so having treats on you would be great, she also loves to learn. SHe is a great hiking, jogging or running partner! Lexi resides with a playmate at our Sanctuary and they come out to go on runs with the side-by-side buggy, she LOVES IT! And there is nothing better than a romp at the creek or at least a dip in the trough/pool! Lexi is a playgirl and a tomboy, she loves affection, playing with people and dogs, loves toys, and being an important part of her people's lives! Lexii loves being the center of attention, and so may be easiest as an only dog in the home, but for dog savvy folks, who engage in training and creating boundaries where needed she can co-house. She is currently taking a break at the Milo Sanctuary and living with three other dogs - happily! She has a beautiful golden, brindle coat and is a nice size, lean and athletic, perfect for wide open spaces and running. ADOPTION FEE: $550

Story
Meet Johnny! He is a 1 year old, 44 lb sweet boy who bonds to his person quickly. He would do well in a home where he can have an active handler who will take him for long hikes/walks/runs and go on many adventures with him! Because he is a working breed, his ideal owner would be someone who has experience with dogs who are high drive and can be a handful. With proper introduction, Johnny can get along with other dogs, but would do best as an only dog or with a submissive female. He has gone through some training, is whip smart, but needs a family dedicated to continue ongoing training and socialization. If you are looking for a 'diamond in the rough' loyal companion, Johnny is available for foster or adoption and would love for you to visit him at our facility.

Story
Bubba truly is the most genial gentle giant. His loving foster family has this summary on him: Bubba is one of a kind. We continue to be impressed with him as he comes out of his shell and gets more comfortable in a home environment. We fall more and more in love with him everyday. While he is large, he is such a good leash walker, always walking slack leash next to you and checking in with you so he's really easy to manage. Unless he sees a squirrel or other darting small creature in which case he can get a little excited - but he responds super well to a bit of verbal correction and redirection. He's been great with my extended family's dogs: 20 lb Chiweenie and 7 lb Terrier mix - both of whom are not fans of big dogs. He's been good with meeting dogs out on leash as well. He loves being near his people and will lean on you to make sure you know he's got you. He doesn't love being left alone for long periods of time - think he would be great for a person or family who either WFH or has someone at home during the day or perhaps another dog companion). He's a very sensitive and intuitive being and quickly picks up on cues and correction. I have been working with him on sitting and waiting before opening doors and for his meals. He absolutely loves going for car rides - jumps right in and settles quickly. He does benefit from a moderate amount of exercise. We have been either doing short runs (1-2 miles), HIkes or multiple walks throughout the day and that's been enough for him. In the house he's very chill and will just find a good spot to lay near you wherever you are. Sometimes he can get underfoot, but he always graciously moves when asked. He loves a soft spot to lay and if you have an elevated chair or bed for him - even better! He also enjoys a good chew toy. We have been slowly socializing him in new environments. 1. We've taken him to several outdoor restaurants with loud music and alot of people - totally fine, in fact he will sometimes lay down and fall asleep! 2. This past weekend he went to a 3 year old birthday party and was a total hit with the kids (and adults!) 3. We went to the Marin Country Mart and he's a great shopping buddy.

Story
Meet the artist litter! These puppies with their beautiful spotted patterns are ready to find their forever homes. They will be at least a medium size, probably no less than 50 lbs, but as always with puppies your guess will be as good as ours. Duchamp is a curious and cuddly boy. He likes stuffed toys and snuggling in your lap - until he sees something he needs to go investigate, anyway! He is calm and friendly with other dogs. He will be a great adventure partner and family dog! Raising a puppy takes time, patience and a true commitment. Puppies need enrichment, socialization and consistency in training. They take resources and can cause a few less than perfect nights' sleep. With lots of love and a little effort, your family will have a great dog for many years! Are you prepared to take the time and provide the resources a new puppy needs?
