Lulu Belle came to us extremely shy, however less than a week in foster care with other dogs she came out of her shell, more so every day, step by step she chose her safety and comfort zone, next thing we knew she was curled up on a dog bed on the couch! Lulu will put herself in a crate and likely it will make transitioning into a new home easier having a crate as an option - even with the door open... She is getting more comfortable on leash and out in the (suburban) world, she rides fine in a car, settling down pretty well. She came from the rural Central Valley so loud urban environments or new things like the beach (highly unlikely she has seen the ocean!) should be put on hold until she has climatized well to new surroundings and people. And she needs security, a safe haven in the world. She will climb onto your lap for love. Once she feels comfortable she will follow you around the house and out to a yard and she has starting to play well with other dogs, and liking toys alot! She is a chow hound for good treats... but Lulu Belle is a NO GO for a home with cats.

Lola is a sweet, gentle girl with a tender heart. While she is very shy at first, she prefers to avoid things that make her nervous rather than react to them. She'll even gently accept treats from strangers as she builds confidence. Since her early years were spent in a shelter instead of a home, many everyday sights and sounds are still new to her, but her foster has been helping her discover that the world isn't such a scary place. Lola LOVES playing with other dogs (big and small), enjoys her toys, and has plenty of energy for walks and adventures. Lola does wonderfully in the car and will sit calmly in the backseat. She is a wonderful walking companion and walks beautifully on leash without pulling, except if she's startled by a loud or unexpected noise. Because she can become frightened by sudden sounds, she is considered a flight risk and should always be walked on a secure leash and in a properly fitted collar or harness. Lola is crate trained and house trained. Lola has done great with other dogs and would do well with older, respectful children who understand that she'll need space and patience while she learns to trust them. Rio is a 6yr old Catahoula Cur and Pitbull terrier mix. He joined our family when he was just an 8 week old pup. He loves people, and is a big, loveable teddy bear who sometimes thinks hes a lap dog. Due to unforeseen changes, health issues, and changes in our family we have had to make the extremely difficult decision to find Rio a new home. He gives big, raspy borks sometimes, but it feels more like a warning to the world that he’s tired and unsure. He walks well on leash. He isn’t overly affectionate but he loves food. Treats are his joy. He’ll catch them mid-air with impressive accuracy, and when offered a can of wet food, he allowed full handling without hesitation… then inhaled it like a man who’s learned food isn’t always guaranteed. Chief feels like a dog who is missing his person, the only constant he’s known, even if that life wasn’t perfect. Seniors feel loss deeply and shelters are especially cruel places for them.Chief did not test well with other dogs and may need to be the only pet. When tested, he showed clear discomfort and escalation when another dog got close. He needs a quiet, adult-only home, or a hospice foster, where he can rest, eat well, and feel safe for whatever time he has left. However he was found in 2021 with another dog in a hotel room so there may be potential outside of the shelter environment. ##2617110##
