APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: DELLA GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-26-22 WEIGHT: 15 approx BREED: Catahoula Blue Tick Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) The rescue story for Della and her littermates is a part of “Something Good”, which is designed to remind us of all the goodness in the world. The rescue job is rewarding and different stories that evolve take us to another way of rescuing and every once in a great while we get to help dogs that never experienced anything other than love. Della was born on 11/25/22 and weighs about 15 lbs. Her story and that of her siblings are like many in the south. A dog wonderful owner that love and cares for their dogs was accidental pregnant before they could get her fixed. In order for them to be sure that these pups found loving homes, the family loving animals like all of us, asked RDVG for help finding the pups a home where they would have a wonderful life. Della is described by her foster as being incredibly gentle, sweet, and quite unique for how calm she is when the littermate’s game gets crazy. She loves the human hugs and to be scratched behind her ears. In the video below, it shows how friendly engages in play with the children in the foster home, which is a perfect addition to a “loves to go outside dog” family. Della is very social and absolutely enjoys playing and if she is invited by a human or another dog she will roll around endlessly together, making magical smiles appear on all our faces! She's smart enough to know her little size and she gets out of the way for larger humans or animals. Those that witness the whit of this sweet dog when in a flash, she runs underneath humans or dogs as they fetch the balls-- quite a sight to see! All dogs, like humans, have certain traits, however, it is important to know that dogs and humans, regardless of the breed or ethnic group, are all social family oriented and their characteristics are only one of their many awesome qualities. When choosing a pet for your family, the potential breed is important to research so that you find your perfect fit as well as the dogs. The Catahoula Leopard Dog are playful at home and a multi-purpose working dog that is well-muscled and powerful with a sense of endurance. They are a  medium-large, short-coated dog, known for its many varied coat and eye colors and patterns. Catahoula’s are the only breed of dog to have historically originated in the state of Louisiana. They know their place in the family unit, they are affectionate, loyal, and gentle. Also called the Catahoula Hog Dog, they are often used as watchdogs, guard dogs, and of course as loyal companions. The Catahoula pairs nicely with the sleekly beautiful Bluetick Coonhound. The Bluetick hound has a sweet-tempered, active and an affectionate charmer who might enjoy snoozing in the shade. They are a native to the United States that sports a trademark ticked pattern on its short, smooth coat. These dogs generally have a friendly, sweet, and loyal disposition. They are used both for hunting and companionship. Above all, this breed belongs in an active home where there is plenty of access to explore the outdoors. The droopy-eared charm of Blueticks is irresistible. They crave affection and are deeply devoted to those who provide it. Bluetick tend to have a very affectionate temperament with their owners. They also can get along well with other dogs. As high-energy dogs, they need lots of exercise every day their hardwired impulses can develop serenading the neighbors with loud, mournful 'music’, so an active family is best!  Take a deep, if you have never owned a hound, dive into the hound dog breed world with Della and discover the behavior and personality that makes her such a beloved family member—this breed has got it all and one of the most popular breeds in the USA Della prances about and has a great little bark that announces visitors, and that's about the only time one hears a peep out of her is when you are putting her on her tummy while she lays close to you -- all four little feet in the air -- and lets out the sweetest pleasurable sound letting you know she's grateful to have your doting attention! Della will not disappoint you as a companion and family member! If you are looking for adventure and unconditional love, then fill out an application and ask for her! APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. DOG: STEVIE GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-26-22 WEIGHT: 15 approx BREED: Catahoula Blue Tick Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) Every once in a great while we get to work with families that love their pets and want the best for them. This is a rare treat that we enjoy, as usually the situations we work with are cases of neglect or abuse. But on those rare occasions, we are happy to help when someone asks us to place puppies. We know that “accidents happen”, and the well-meaning pet owner had planned to spay or neuter, and we appreciate so much that they come to us instead of dumping the unwanted puppies on a back road, which happens too often. So is the case for Stevie and her siblings. Happily, they have only known love, but are in search of a home to call their own just the same. Stevie is a gorgeous Catahoula/Hound mix, and is about 5 months old. She is about 15 pounds and has the most beautiful blue eyes! Foster mom says that Stevie is very calm and quiet, and so well-behaved that you don’t even know she’s in the room. She is amazing with children (although we still ALWAYS stress that children should never be left unsupervised with any dog) and loves to be cuddled. She likes to put her head on your neck and snuggle in for a hug! Like any puppy, Stevie gets along with everyone and is happy playing all day. All dogs, like humans, have certain traits, however, it is important to know that dogs and humans, regardless of the breed or ethnic group, are all social family oriented and their characteristics are only one of their many awesome qualities. APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: SWEETIE GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-30-22 approx. WEIGHT: 30 approx. BREED: Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) RESCUE STORY Kaylee, our foster’s oldest granddaughter, was with her one day and they saw a dog on the side of the road—she was lovingly obedient and was waiting for the person that dumped her to come back and pick her up. This was not the first time they saw the dog, so Kaylee begged her grandma to turn around and go back. Kaylee gently picked her up and put her in the car—of course they brought her home. It was obvious that this dog was abandoned; they noticed that people had been feeding her with scraps that were on the side of the road. However, Kaylee was very worried that she was going to get hit. Kaylee named her “Sweetie”, she is probably about nine months old and she’s heartworm negative. She’s already on prevention and she’s had all her vaccinations. She just needs to be spayed which we can get done as soon as possible. Sweetie is very grateful and appreciative. She knows that she’s been rescued and she’s obviously a good dog. PERSONALITY Sweetie is a beautiful Catahoula Cur mix. She was blessed with all the gorgeous markings and rich colors on her coat. She is the still a typical “baby” and she craves love, attention, and safety. According to foster mom, she is super friendly, and warms right up to anyone that is dishing out love. She has a sweet disposition and has an all-around sweet nature. She keeps right up with her foster siblings, running, playing, and rolling around the grass enjoying all the silly antics going on. Patricia, her foster mom, tells us that she is not sure how she would be with the cats if left unattended. She is very good-natured, so happy to feel healthy again, eager to learn all about her new life and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. CHILDREN Sweetie is very friendly loves kids and gets along with all other dogs, however, she is still a puppy, she gets along with anyone. Children will love to run and play with her, but we always strongly suggest that no dog, young or old, should ever be left unsupervised with children until everyone is very comfortable in all situations. ABOUT THE BREED When considering adding a new member to the family it is important to research breeds so that everyone, including the new pup, is comfortable and happy. The Catahoula Cur is a loyal, independent, and watchful breed. They are a medium-large, short-coated dog, known for its many varied coat and eye colors and patterns. Catahoula’s are the only breed of dog to have historically originated in the state of Louisiana. They are affectionate, loyal, gentle, watchdogs and of course as loyal companions. The Catahoula Cur is also an intelligent, hardworking, and loyal dog breed, which makes it a dependable addition to many families. They love the great outdoors and are the ideal dog for owners who like to explore nature and stay active. We are looking forward to finding Sweetie her forever home, so that this chapter will close for her. We want her to live a life of love and happiness with her new family. Her rough beginning is in the past, she is a delight, and will make a wonderful companion for a family looking to offer her a loving home. She has been given a great start with her foster family, they restored her confidence in humans and gave her the love and security she needed. If you think Sweetie would be a good fit for your family, she will absolutely bring you years of love, joy, companionship, and lots of fun, too!
