APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: SWEETIE GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-30-22 approx. WEIGHT: 30 approx. BREED: Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) RESCUE STORY Kaylee, our foster’s oldest granddaughter, was with her one day and they saw a dog on the side of the road—she was lovingly obedient and was waiting for the person that dumped her to come back and pick her up. This was not the first time they saw the dog, so Kaylee begged her grandma to turn around and go back. Kaylee gently picked her up and put her in the car—of course they brought her home. It was obvious that this dog was abandoned; they noticed that people had been feeding her with scraps that were on the side of the road. However, Kaylee was very worried that she was going to get hit. Kaylee named her “Sweetie”, she is probably about nine months old and she’s heartworm negative. She’s already on prevention and she’s had all her vaccinations. She just needs to be spayed which we can get done as soon as possible. Sweetie is very grateful and appreciative. She knows that she’s been rescued and she’s obviously a good dog. PERSONALITY Sweetie is a beautiful Catahoula Cur mix. She was blessed with all the gorgeous markings and rich colors on her coat. She is the still a typical “baby” and she craves love, attention, and safety. According to foster mom, she is super friendly, and warms right up to anyone that is dishing out love. She has a sweet disposition and has an all-around sweet nature. She keeps right up with her foster siblings, running, playing, and rolling around the grass enjoying all the silly antics going on. Patricia, her foster mom, tells us that she is not sure how she would be with the cats if left unattended. She is very good-natured, so happy to feel healthy again, eager to learn all about her new life and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. CHILDREN Sweetie is very friendly loves kids and gets along with all other dogs, however, she is still a puppy, she gets along with anyone. Children will love to run and play with her, but we always strongly suggest that no dog, young or old, should ever be left unsupervised with children until everyone is very comfortable in all situations. ABOUT THE BREED When considering adding a new member to the family it is important to research breeds so that everyone, including the new pup, is comfortable and happy. The Catahoula Cur is a loyal, independent, and watchful breed. They are a medium-large, short-coated dog, known for its many varied coat and eye colors and patterns. Catahoula’s are the only breed of dog to have historically originated in the state of Louisiana. They are affectionate, loyal, gentle, watchdogs and of course as loyal companions. The Catahoula Cur is also an intelligent, hardworking, and loyal dog breed, which makes it a dependable addition to many families. They love the great outdoors and are the ideal dog for owners who like to explore nature and stay active. We are looking forward to finding Sweetie her forever home, so that this chapter will close for her. We want her to live a life of love and happiness with her new family. Her rough beginning is in the past, she is a delight, and will make a wonderful companion for a family looking to offer her a loving home. She has been given a great start with her foster family, they restored her confidence in humans and gave her the love and security she needed. If you think Sweetie would be a good fit for your family, she will absolutely bring you years of love, joy, companionship, and lots of fun, too! Story
Hammond aka Archie is a 2.5 year catahoula leopard mix with lots of puppy energy left in him. He absolutely loves walks and running zoomies around a fenced in backyard. He loves to play fetch with a ball outside or tug of war with his toys inside. He will bring toys to you to let you know he wants some attention. He loves other dogs. Is always happiest at the dog park. With cats, he isn’t great. He has a bit of a chase drive with them. He is completely house trained and crate trained (loves his crate actually). He still needs some more work with other house etiquette (likes his bed but prefers the couch). Hammond aka Archie is such a good boy. A fun dog who loves kids, loves his people. He is up for a car ride adventure, a hike in the woods, some peanut butter on a spoon and a cuddle on the couch. He is located in Framingham, MA and he is looking for a foster home, or even better would be a forever home. Story
Violet is the mom of four puppies, Dahlia, Rose, Iris and Poppy (all already adopted). Her foster says she was simply the best mom and was so very grateful that she was rescued. This girl was seen walking the streets looking for food in a neighborhood in Memphis known to have MANY dogs wandering the streets. She was skin and bones and obviously nursing puppies. The search was on for her babies and she brought her kind rescuer to a backyard with several other dogs. Violet actually had a home and owner! We thought sure by her appearance that she was a street dog. Thankfully, the "owners" agreed to surrender mom and pups for rescue.Miss Violet does have an alpha personality, and can be dog selective. She’s amazing with kids, but is nervous when she meets someone new; but she gets over it quickly. Once she knows you, she will welcome you with open paws! She will follow her foster from room to room, but she is fine to be alone, as she is also independent.Violet is a bit of an opportunist when it comes to escaping…open door, gate, window - but it’s because she wants to be outside exploring. For this reason, she will REQUIRE a tall sturdy fenced in yard Her energy level is moderate - she kicks it up to play. She has a rough and rowdy play style and she’s very vocal during playtime. She loves loves loves to play with anyone that will play with her. When it is time to chill, she becomes extremely laid back. She’s happy to just sleep and snuggle. She is the cuddliest dog her foster has ever met. She loves to spoon so she shoulders her way into your arms. She rests her paws on you anytime she’s near.Violet also sleeps with her humans. She literally will hug and put her arms around your neck or waist when you sleep. Violet is crate trained; goes in her crate with no problem, and she’s totally content in there. She is also housetrained. She loves car rides too!Violet is really just an all around happy girl. Please consider giving this precious mama a safe and loving home.Name: VioletBreed: Catahoula Leopard Dog/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 3 years  (estimated)Weight: 60.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: Selective, may do best as an only dog. This dog is   NOT   offered for adoption by Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA). This dog is solely a courtesy posting for another rescuer. Adoption Donation: $550   Located:  MS    (Transportation costs included, please ask for more details )  Age:  3 Weight: 45   Bella is a sweet and gentle and  mellow dog who is loving her new life after being rescued from living on the streets. Bella was discovered living in a culvert  in a rural part of North Mississippi by a kindly couple who spotted her one day on their way to work and began stopping by every morning to leave her food. For two months, Bella stayed away, watching them  from a distance, until one day she came up to them, tail wagging.   Bella is  now living with the couple and their three small dogs, absolutely loving life as an indoor, cared for member of the family.     The couple report that she is gentle and sweet, she loves belly rubs and likes to lies at their feet. She is protective of her food which is understandable after starving for so long.   Bella is housetrained, she just goes right outside to do her business and  comes right back indoors. Unfortunately, she recently tested positive for heartworm and is undergoing treatment, she should be ready for adoption sometime at the end of December.   Bella is a wonderful family dog, she is easy-going and calm. She will make a loyal and loving member of the family.        Please email if you are interested in adopting:  mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com   February 22, 2024, 9:06 pm
