Story
Sometimes we spend hours thinking of ways to describe our pets when the best description really does come from the foster family! Otto is in a foster home in Memphis, Tn and here are the words of his foster mom.... We loved him from the very beginning. His favorite place on earth is the dog park where he is always the most joyful, energetic ambassador for every new arrival, even the grumpy ones. He does not have an aggressive bone in his body. He took to the crate immediately especially when he figured out that there were treats involved. We dispensed with the crate after the first few days once we knew we could trust him unsupervised. He has learned that in our house dogs are not allowed on the furniture but we do have our suspicions that he curls up on the couch when we aren’t home. He is clever enough to hop down before we are through the door but not so clever as to straighten the cushions. He would love nothing more than to curl up next to you and share your blanket but settles for laying on your feet. He LOVES affection. We have a cantankerous German shepherd and he has managed to wrap her around his little paw with ease. They play non-stop and are quite the duo making our small space very challenging. He is extremely agile and flexible and loves to leap off our back porch in one bound (skipping all five steps) if there is a squirrel in the vicinity. Our German shepherd is very jealous and looks ridiculous when she tries to do the same. He can almost do a back bend which is pretty incredible (and quite something to see) and loves to stick his head straight up in the air which always makes us smile. I will admit that his leash walking needs work although it has improved. His enthusiasm when we walk past people or other dogs makes it hard for him to listen and if there is a squirrel involved forget it! His improvement does lead me to believe that with time and patience he can be trained to walk like a civilized canine. He LOVES food. We bought him a maze feeding dish because he inhales his food and eagerly looks forward to every breakfast and dinner. He knows he has to sit before you put his dish down so he starts sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor and sits-walks-sits-scoots his way to his dish. If you have a treat, he will go through every trick he knows hoping to land on the right one. So far, he can sit, lie down and high five, although it is hit or miss as to which one he will perform with any command. His antics will keep you laughing. We don’t have kids but there is no doubt in my mind that he would make a wonderful family dog. We do have a couple of dog-hating cats in our household that love to assert their authority. They trained him immediately and he only looks longingly at them. I have caught him in a hopeful downward dog as they approach trying to worm his way into their affections as well. I keep trying to tell him that it will never happen, but he is an optimist and keeps trying. If you would like to make this guy a special part of your family please follow the link below to our adoption application. Rescue vet Transport travels to the north east each and every weekend. Transport is an additional $165. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
With smooth, velvety fur, soft, kind eyes, a gentle demeanor, and adorable head tilts to die for, our beautiful, precious house cow, Blossom, is the total package! Blossom was rescued from an open-intake animal control facility in Kentucky. Unfortunately, she was brought in as a stray and was never claimed. Her history and ancestry are unknown, but she is estimated to be approximately two years of age and weighs 85 pounds. Her appearance and characteristics suggest Catahoula Leopard Dog, Mastiff, and/or Great Dane in her family tree, but without a DNA test, we cannot say for sure what breeds make up this unique beauty. Blossom is enjoying the comforts and kindness of a foster home in Chicago while waiting to meet her forever family. She's a friendly, albeit timid, dog with new people and in new environments. A few kind words and gentle pets are all it takes for Blossom to warm up to new people, and once she does, she's your shadow. Her interests include long walks, Nylabones, Kongs, soft blankets, cushy beds, couch cuddles, and treats. Blossom's energy is generally a mellow, gentle vibe. However, she is still a very large, strong, young dog with brief moments of excitability and bursts of energy and the adorable clumsiness many young, large, and giant breeds exhibit. Because of this, a home familiar with and experienced with large, powerful dogs will be the best match for her. She's well-behaved in the home, crate trained, and housebroken but does not appear to know any commands, so her adoptive guardians should be prepared to help her learn the basics. Blossom is being fostered with other dogs and gets along well in the group but is not always aware of her size or strength when playing. If considering bringing Blossom into a home with an existing canine, a larger dog (45 pounds +) who can handle her size and play style will be best. She's a little too interested in cats, so a feline-free home is the best match for her. Blossom is ready and eager to meet you, submit your application today! Blossom is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and heartworm tested. Her adoption fee to the rescue is $375. Blossom is in a foster home and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Blossom's adoption fee is $375. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare her for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Blossom from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! We are a volunteer-run organization and do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not apply until you are ready to adopt.

DINKLEY - HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS ADOPTION SPECIAL $100 Dinkley will need a special adopter. Someone that can care for his special needs. He is a 1.5 YRS old, 40 pound catahoula mix. He is very energetic and definitely needs help learning his puppy manners still. He is very, very smart. He enjoys wobble feeders, kongs, and puzzle toys. He has not been formally dog tested yet but we are happy to get that officially done, at a later date. After a few initial barks he settled down during a through-fence meeting. Dinkley is just a baby and deserves to live for as long as his heart will let him. Hopefully, he can live a long life with proper medical care! Dinkley has been diagnosed with possible Pulmonary Stenosis. It is under control and the vet feels he has a full life a head of him. He will need to see the cardiologist probably twice a year for follow up. His adoption fee is $100. Story
Maverick is a gorgeous looking boy who needs someone with patience, willingness to work/train with in an active home! He is approximately 1.5 years old, between 60-65lbs, very energetic, super loving and when you start petting him, he just melts and loves belly rubs. He is house trained, knows basic commands. He is very food motivated which will come in handy with obedience training.  No cats, small dogs or small children for Maverick..  He is a smart boy and waiting to start training to “polish” his skill sets with mild pulling when leash walking and to learn additional commands too!  We recommend obedience training for all dogs! If you are interested in adoption, please contact Kathy at (574)216-8599.    **Magnificent Mutts is an all foster home based rescue and meets are held by appointment with the entire family in attendance.
