DINKLEY - HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS ADOPTION SPECIAL $100 Dinkley will need a special adopter. Someone that can care for his special needs. He is a 1.5 YRS old, 40 pound catahoula mix. He is very energetic and definitely needs help learning his puppy manners still. He is very, very smart. He enjoys wobble feeders, kongs, and puzzle toys. He has not been formally dog tested yet but we are happy to get that officially done, at a later date. After a few initial barks he settled down during a through-fence meeting. Dinkley is just a baby and deserves to live for as long as his heart will let him. Hopefully, he can live a long life with proper medical care! Dinkley has been diagnosed with possible Pulmonary Stenosis. It is under control and the vet feels he has a full life a head of him. He will need to see the cardiologist probably twice a year for follow up. His adoption fee is $100. Story
Meet Dash! This handsome boy was recently returned to us when his family was no longer able to care for him. He is a very loving boy who just wants someone to cuddle with! He can be a little nervous when meeting new people but for a treat and a little bit of patience he is sure to be your best friend.Dash would thrive in an active home with lots of yard room to run around in and a nice big bed to lay in at night! He is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet and just can't wait to break out of here! He would make a great addition to anyone's family! Here's what his foster had to say:"I woke up to a SNUGGLE BUG!!!!! (This boy is all cuddles). After a few minutes of snuggles, I took Dash out for a morning walk in the dog park across the street. He originally thought we were going to the car so he just stood facing the passenger seat for a minute.I purchased a gentle leader to help work with him on leash etiquette so he doesn't pull so much. It seems to be working! He is a smart dog and hasn't picked up any of my shoes or clothing, so he has proper house manners. What a good boy! Story
FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60625 ESTIMATED DOB: 04/2015 WEIGHT: 55lbs KIDS: Likely DOGS: Yes CATS: No HISTORY: Frito Pie came to us from a rural Louisiana shelter. He came to us with Josie when their owner passed away and the neighbor paid for boarding until they could find a shelter to take them. ABOUT: Frito Pie has a kind, loving, gentle soul with a side of enthusiasm. Frito Pie will make you feel amazing each time you go out to check the mail as he will act like you have been gone for hours when you come back in. Frito Pie loves with his whole heart. He will always be sitting next to you on the couch and sleeps in bed with his fosters. His foster typically doesn’t allow that, but it was clear he had done it in the past and it was hard to tell him no. He likes to spend 5 minutes right next to you professing his love, and then he usually gets up and goes to the end of the bed by himself. Frito Pie does well when left alone and does not need to be crated, but he cannot be left where food is available as he is very self sufficient and will help himself. Frito Pie is generally a quiet guy, but he will bark out of excitement when you come home and will also bark with the other dogs when someone walks through the alley. Frito Pie has to be first in line when attention is being passed out and he will bump into the other dogs in his pursuit of attention. He’s agreeable to sharing - one hand for him, and one hand for another dog, but he will never miss an opportunity. Frito has a fenced yard in his foster home, but he enjoys walks and is very easy to walk on leash. Frito Pie is being fostered with both large and small breed dogs and is very tolerant, even of the sassy small dogs. He is happy to welcome every new foster, but he can be a little too happy/overwhelming at first (especially to the small dogs), so we like to give him a little time to get to know them. In his Louisiana shelter he was regularly turned out with 10-15 other dogs. Frito Pie loves attention, and would likely easily adjust to being an only child. Frito Pie is not being fostered with children, but he is very tolerant and doesn’t know what personal space is, so he would likely enjoy children. We would recommend children old enough to handle his occasional excessive happiness, as sometimes he will bump into you or paw at you. No cats or small animals for Frito Pie. Josie has completed the injections for heartworm treatment. She will need one final test to confirm it was successful in June of 2024. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.
