Story
Hi, I'm String Bean! My foster mama says I am sweet and playful as can be! I am a little shy of new people but once I know we're friends, I'm stuck to you like glue! We look to be Catahoula mixes, based on our merle coloring but it's just a guess. The shelter doesn't know too much about us, as we were found in a ditch :(. We don't let that stop us though! Come meet us and take us home!! To apply to adopt one of us, complete the adoption application found on this webpage: polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet us.  ##1800533##

Story
Introducing Hondo, the loyal and brave companion you've been waiting for! Hondo is a true good boy, showcasing his friendly nature with both people and fellow furry friends. He strikes the perfect balance between confident and respectful, making him a wonderful addition to any household dynamic. While Hondo may be a bit head shy when it comes to leashes, it's a trait rooted in his past experiences - his ears once caused him discomfort. But with patience and understanding, he's slowly overcoming this challenge. This resilience highlights his adaptable nature and willingness to grow. Crate training is a breeze for Hondo, reflecting his cooperative spirit. He's well-versed in the art of sitting and enjoys eating a peaceful meal. These traits make him a joy to train and a promising companion for both new and experienced pet owners. Hondo's ideal home is one that's lively and active, as he thrives in an environment where he can stretch his legs and engage in the joyful act of running. With a strong recall foundation already in place, he's open to further fine-tuning this skill. This warrior-dog's name is music to his ears, and he responds to it with enthusiasm. Though his recall could use a bit more polish, his eagerness to learn shines through. Hondo's adaptable and resourceful nature, coupled with his receptive attitude, make him a loyal partner for all your adventures. If you're seeking a four-legged friend who embodies both resilience and companionship, look no further than Hondo. He's ready to stand by your side and show you the depths of his affectionate heart. Don't hesitate to welcome this valiant spirit into your home! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Meet Zoe! Zoe is such a precious, gorgeous pup with two toned eyes and dark brindle fur. She is very bashful when you first meet her, but she's learning to blossom into a social butterfly. She likes to take her time to get to know you, but if you have treats, she is willing to hear you out! Zoe loves to catch some zoomies in the yard and knows the command "sit very well. Zoe has a lot of endurance and agility, and would make a great running companion or farm dog! Zoe has SO MUCH ENERGYYYY! She zooms, and gallops, and sprints around and around! Zoe would suit well in an environment with older children and would not work well in apartment-style living. Lots of noises make her a bit anxious which apartment-living would put her around constantly. Some basic information about Zoe; she is 1-year(s) old, female, Catahoula Leopard mix, and is medium-sized (20-59lbs). Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

She has the beautiful brindle swirls of dark chocolate and milk chocolate mixed together. Sweet as the confection! Daphne will need an active lifestyle to keep her happy and healthy! Story
Sweet Juniper is extremely mellow. She likes to sleep a lot. Basically she sleeps, wakes up and eats, goes potty and then goes back to sleep. When it is time to eat, she does the cutest little pony dance. She absolutely loves food. She is still skittish, but wants to learn to trust you with her heart. She would do best in a quiet home. She might dart through the door, primarily back inside to her favorite spot, so a secure home and yard will be important. She picked out her favorite chair on the first day and will go to it every time. I don’t think I’ve seen all of her personality yet, but she’s really easy and low maintenance. She’s great with dogs and cats and is house trained. She hasn’t barked once and I don’t think she will. I haven’t tried her on a leash. I think going out in the yard versus walking her is best in the beginning and maybe permanently. She is more of an observer than a participant. She’s perfectly happy watching the world move around her. If you are looking for a movie buddy, she is the best couch potato there is. Juniper is about 7 years old and weighs around 40 pounds. Hopefully she will find someone that will take their time discovering all the best parts of her. I adore her and I know you will too.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as ''Out of Town'' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.November 27, 2023, 3:56 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
- Cuddly, playful and smart - Loves treats, toys and sitting on the couch - Was housetrained and crate-trained in her previous home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule - Enjoys walks and does well on a leash - Enjoys playing with other dogs - Has been diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia in one hip (more info at ARL) The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: Black Weight: 45 Age: 3yrs 5mths 2wks
