Story
Baloo is a wonderful Catahoula dog (born 2019) looking for a new home through no fault of her own. She is usually a calm dog and considers herself a lap dog.  She is friendly with people of all ages and she likes to have another dog or cat around.  She loves to be petted and will reward your attention with kisses.  Baloo is housebroken, leash trained and she's okay if her people work and need to be out of the house for part of the day.   She loves to play fetch and will need a fenced yard to play in. The suggested adoption donation for Baloo is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2593901##

Story
Buster’s parents are both purebred catahoulas. His mother was under aged when she was bred (accidentally) so he does not have papers. He’s energetic and loving and very loyal. House trained and trained to wipe his feet on command when coming in from the rain.

Story
Borris is a 9-month-old male Catahoula Leopard Dog/Labrador Retriever mix with a soft, gentle soul. He and his three brothers came to us all the way from Texas, where they were out of time in a high-kill shelter. Thanks to our wonderful partner organization down there, they made it safely to Iowa, and now Borris is ready to find a family of his very own. With his sleek black coat and bright white chest, Borris is the unique one of his litter—not just in looks, but in personality too. He’s the shyest of the group and may need a moment to warm up to new people. Once he trusts you, though, he becomes the sweetest companion who absolutely thrives on affection. He loves gentle pets, leans in for attention, and has a soft, sensitive presence. Don’t let his calm demeanor fool you—he’s still very much a puppy at heart! Borris gets adorable bursts of energy where all he wants to do is play. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes and will romp with them once he feels comfortable. His brothers are still his best buddies, but he’s slowly expanding his friend group and growing more confident every day. He’s definitely more of a follower than a leader, and while not required, he would be delighted to have a canine role model in his new home. Borris is currently a little curious about cats, but we believe he’ll do just fine with respectful introductions and guidance. He’s potty-trained, crate-trained, and quiet in his kennel. He’s also very food-motivated, which is helping him quickly learn his basic commands and manners. This sweet boy would be a wonderful match for any home looking to nurture a gentle spirit and show him how loving and fulfilling life can be. If you’re ready to give Borris the confidence, care, and companionship he deserves, he’ll give you a lifetime of loyalty in return.

Story
Lenny is a 9-month-old male Catahoula Leopard Dog/Labrador Retriever mix with the softest, most beautiful brindle coat you’ve ever seen. He came to us from a high-kill shelter in Texas, where his time was nearly up. The small scars on his face hint at a rough start, but those days are far behind him—now Lenny is thriving, joyful, and ready for his forever family. Lenny is the definition of a happy-go-lucky pup. He greets every person and every new situation with a wagging tail, and he’s never met a stranger—human or canine. He loves to play with people but really lights up when he’s romping around with other dogs; he hasn’t met a dog yet he couldn’t turn into a playmate. After a fun-filled day, Lenny is perfectly content to curl up on the softest blanket he can find and snooze peacefully until he hears someone else wake up. He’s fully crate-trained and potty-trained, and although he’s a big boy, he’s still very much a puppy. He’s working on his basic manners—especially not jumping or mouthing—but he’s incredibly food-motivated and learns quickly. Lenny would thrive in just about any loving home looking for a cheerful, affectionate companion. He’s ready to experience all the good things life has to offer—he just needs someone to show him the way. If you’re looking for a sweet, spirited, loyal young dog to brighten your world, Lenny is your boy.

Story
Tito is a Catahoula mix, born in 2017.  Don't let Tito's age fool you, he is still an active boy and loves to go on walks or hikes and play frisbee.  Tito enjoys a regular dose of fresh air and sunbathing when the weather cooperates.  He is also leash trained, knows some commands and plays fetch.  Tito will only bark to alert you about something (i.e. knock onthe door, people next to the fence, etc). Tito is selective with dogs and has been good at the dog park with supervision.  It would be better for him if there were no cats in the home.  He's a little nervous at times, but also knows when to be protective.  Tito is house trained.  He's had a little submissive peeing in the past, but that hasn't happened for a long time. The perfect home for Tito would be with people who are active, but don't have a lot of people around all the time.  He tends to get stressed with new people coming in and out often.  He would do better with older kids (age 6+) because he is unsure of young kids.  Tito has not been aggressive around small children, but he needs to be around people that can read his cues and give him space when he wants to be alone.   The suggested adoption donation for Tito is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
