This pup is a Catahoula mix. This pup was born 10-20-22. This pup will not be overly large. My educated guess is around 35-40 pounds at maturity. This pup is shy but warms up. This pup is great with other dogs and cats. We have started crate training and potty training. I will consider a reduced fee to the right home! This pup will be current on vaccines, deworming, preventives. This pup will be micro-chipped. This pup will receive a physical and a certificate of health prior to going home. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mega is the most precious pup who is special needs and deserves the best home! Although considered special needs he's really your average puppy. He is around 14 weeks old as of September 2, 2023. He currently weighs 20 pounds and he is the sweetest and happiest guy. Mega came to us at just 4 weeks old. His eyes did not fully develop so he is completely blind. He also has a mild case of hydrocephalus but as of now he has no symptoms. We were not familiar with this condition so we have had guidance from our vets but also joined a group on facebook called hydrocephalus in dogs. It has been so helpful and also encouraging. There are many dogs that live happy healthy lives with this condition. Mega is currently on on generic prilosec which is cheap and available over the counter. This is encourage for dogs with his condition. Mega is so happy all of the time. He loves toys, other dogs, cats, all humans, giving kisses, snuggling, car rides, playing tug of war, and he sits on command. He is very treat motivated. Although he is blind he gets around very well. He knows his way around my house and knows exactly where the food and water bowl are. He can even climb steps but does need some help getting down them. He really is perfect in so many ways, and he will make the right family the perfect companion. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines including rabies, microchipped, and current on heartworm prevention. If you are interested in adopting from Sterling Animal Shelter, please submit an application through our "Pets for Adoption" page.  We are currently open by appointment only Tuesday through Friday, and have Open Hours on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.  Our appointments are scheduled by matching our applications to our available pets. If your application is chosen, our staff will contact you to set an appointment for a meet and greet to spend some time with the animal one-on-one. We do still have same day adoptions, and if your meet is successful, you can take your pet home at the time of your appointment.  To find the best match for each pet, we prefer to have the entire family present when doing an adoption. If you have a dog at home already, please be prepared to bring your resident dog to meet a potential new dog, to ensure all parties get along. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. Mandy is an incredibly sweet girl who has some special needs.  She is completely deaf and has some vision impairment.  She LOVES other dogs but tends to get aroused by cats and will chase them but doesn't seem to intend any harm.  She loves to be with her people and has some issues with being contained.  She will go over thru baby gates.  Mandy is a fast learner though and picks up stairs easily.  She needs to learn to be housetrained and doesn't seem to want to go while on a leash.  A high fenced in yard would be ideal for her.  She is playful and energetic.  She does great with all people.  She will need a patient owner who is looking for a rewarding project. Looking do add a high energy, fun-loving, active companion to your life? Could Zoey be the wild child you've been searching for? Zoey is a 4-year-old Catahoula Leopard mixed lady, looking for an active, high-energy breed savvy family to be her people. Zoey is definitely still young and nutty at heart, her favorite go-to greeting is pogo stick jumping to give face kisses. She'd love to find a family willing to guide her in her continuing education, she could use a crash course on all the basic manners and skills. Being a Catahoula girl that came to us as a stray, we think she'd be best in a home with no other animals. She loves to chase, and seems to have a natural hunting instinct when it comes to small critters. Zoey has been working on her leash reactivity around other dogs, but can be very vocal and reactive when seeing them out and about. Luckily, she is VERY food motivated so that'll help in her future training endeavors.
