Story
Meet Smokey & Cannon — A Bonded Father and Son Duo Smokey and Cannon came to our shelter together when their previous owner had to move and could not take them along. It was their owner’s heartfelt wish that this father-and-son pair find a home together, and we are committed to honoring that wish.We know adopting two dogs is a big ask — but we are confident the right home is out there. These boys truly love each other. They play together, relax together, and find comfort navigating the world side by side. Their bond is steady, sweet, and special — and keeping them together means preserving the security and companionship they’ve always known.Smokey is the proud dad of the duo. He is a Catahoula/Husky mix weighing 67 pounds and will turn 5 years old on Saint Patrick’s Day — his very own lucky charm day! Smokey has one striking blue eye and one warm brown eye, making him impossible to forget. Smokey has a medium energy level. His beautiful grey and white coat perfectly matches his gentle, loyal nature.Cannon is Smokey’s 3-year-old son, born on February 3, 2023. He weighs 58 pounds and is also a handsome Catahoula/Husky mix. Cannon has a medium energy level. Cannon shares his dad’s loving heart and strong spirit, and he looks to Smokey for reassurance while also bringing his own youthful energy and playfulness to the pair.According to their previous owner, both boys are housetrained and crate trained. They love children and other dogs. If you have a resident dog, a meet and greet will be required. (Cat compatibility is currently unknown.)For the family willing to open their home to both, you won’t just be adopting two dogs — you’ll be welcoming a built-in best friend system filled with loyalty, companionship, and double the love. Both boys are available through our foster-to-adopt program, which allows you to welcome them into your home while they complete their veterinary care which includes vaccinations, microchipping, and heartworm testing. Both boys are already neutered. If you’re willing to open your home and your heart to both Smokey and Cannon, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and submit an online dog adoption application for both boys. Their adoption fee together is $240.Two hearts. One unbreakable bond. One lucky family waiting to find them.
