Are you looking for a personal trainer? If yes, then Mocha is your girl! Mocha is an active dog that has the "go-go-go" mentality. She is a dominate female, that can get along with other dogs of the right fit. Mocha needs an active lifestyle where someone will be willing to play fetch from sunrise to sunset. Mocha likes to go for walks, and with a little more work on leash will love to go for runs as well! With the proper training, Mocha could make a great hunting dog. Mocha is a smart gal who picks up on things fairly quick. Mocha knows how to sit, to drop the ball when told to "drop it", does well for baths, and great for car rides. Because of her "go-go-go" mentality, Mocha will need work on potty training. The shelter environment is a stressful one, especially for Mocha. This sweet black and tan coonhound wandered up near Talala just days before Thanksgiving- hungry, scared, and hoping someone might notice her. In only two days, she's shown how gentle and friendly she really is. She happily greets new people, does well with an 11 year old child, is friendly with other dogs, but has made it clear she's not looking to befriend chickens. She even sits politely and comes when called, which is pretty adorable for a little stray who hasn't had much guidance.

Meet Duke. Duke arrived at Helpless Hounds on 07-12-2025 after spending most of his life living on the streets of Pauls Valley, OK. He was first seen in the area about seven years earlier, with kind people making sure he was fed and checked on, but he had never had a home or even set foot inside one until coming into rescue. Since then, Duke has shown that he is a big-hearted, people-loving dog who enjoys a good walk followed by a solid nap. He is equal parts playful and affectionate, and he has a way of winning people over once he has time to settle. During a recent boarding stay, staff described Duke as happy, talkative, and energetic. He settled in easily and did well with other dogs, including playful beagle-sized dogs and larger shepherds . His playful energy, gentle cuddles, and unique personality made him a favorite with staff during his stay. Duke does well with most other dogs in the home and has all the love to give to his people. He enjoys exploring on walks, soaking up attention, and then crashing for some well earned rest. At the time of writing (1/19/2026), Duke has been waiting 191 days since intake and has experienced several foster transitions. He is likely ready to stop moving around and finally have the chance to relax in a place that is his own. If you are looking for a loyal companion who is a little silly, very sweet, and ready to trade foster hopping for forever, Duke is ready.
