Story
Are you looking for a personal trainer? If yes, then Mocha is your girl! Mocha is an active dog that has the "go-go-go" mentality. She is a dominate female, that can get along with other dogs of the right fit. Mocha needs an active lifestyle where someone will be willing to play fetch from sunrise to sunset. Mocha likes to go for walks, and with a little more work on leash will love to go for runs as well! With the proper training, Mocha could make a great hunting dog. Mocha is a smart gal who picks up on things fairly quick. Mocha knows how to sit, to drop the ball when told to "drop it", does well for baths, and great for car rides. Because of her "go-go-go" mentality, Mocha will need work on potty training. The shelter environment is a stressful one, especially for Mocha. Mocha would do great with potty training in a quiet, less stressful environment. Click the link to adopt: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CACO/Dog

Story
My name is Oliver. I am crate-trained and house-trained. I am relaxed on car rides and walk great on a leash. I live well with other dogs and cats. I am not a chewer or digger. I am a lover and a snuggler after I know you. I am gentle and thoughtful, but I am hard to get to know. I am leery of people I don't know. If you're a new person to me, I will usually bark because I am shy and reserved. But I promise if you give me a chance, I can be a good friend and protector for you. I will alert you to strange noises and people at the door. I will bond very hard to you and will show my loyalty. I am a low-maintenance guy with lower energy even though I am young. Please be patient with me and give me a chance? I have met my foster mom's friends and after a couple days I was laying in their laps asking for head scratches. I do like adults more than children so would do best in a home without children.

Story
This sweet black and tan coonhound wandered up near Talala just days before Thanksgiving- hungry, scared, and hoping someone might notice her. In only two days, she's shown how gentle and friendly she really is. She happily greets new people, does well with an 11 year old child, is friendly with other dogs, but has made it clear she's not looking to befriend chickens. She even sits politely and comes when called, which is pretty adorable for a little stray who hasn't had much guidance.

Story
Our Moose Man! This sweet and sensitive guy is in search of the perfect home where he can thrive. Moose is both house trained and crate trained, making him an excellent indoor companion. He craves human company and would flourish with an owner who is frequently present. A true hound, he adores walks, relishing every opportunity to sniff around. While he enjoys a good vocal session, he is well-behaved on leash. Affectionate and playful, Moose is quick to reciprocate love. He communicates his needs effectively and is a joy to be around. He has a knack for learning commands, already mastering sit, down, and shake. Treats and affection motivate him to continue learning, and he's currently progressing well with leash training. Moose is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped, ready to find his forever home. If you have room in your heart and home for a smart and loving companion, consider meeting Moose today! Please submit an online application to begin the process.

Story
His name is Gibson- but you can call him Gibby. Good Guy Gibby is a stunning coonhound with an extraordinary story that somehow keeps circling back to Helpless Hounds. He’s total character- He does well with dogs, is social with strangers, totally adores teens, but considers cats and chickens just too delicious to be friends with. He's smart, crate trained, house trained, eager to learn, and bonds easily with the people around him- but that's not all! What makes Gibby *especially* special is how connected he is to our rescue. This tale began nearly 2 years ago when Gibby was spotted running loose with his girlfriend, Goldie, but the duo disappeared before they could be rescued and relocated. When he eventually ended up at a local shelter as a stray, Helpless Hounds officially became part of his story. Soon after joining our program, the plot thickened- his girlfriend turned up! With puppies! A DNA test confirmed that Gibby is 51.5% Bluetick, 48.5% Treeing Walker Coonhound, and the proud father of ten puppies. Goldie and the puppies she arrived with are now Helpless Hounds alumni- with one pup infamously becoming a foster fail with our founder. All these twists and turns lead to one simple truth: Adopting Gibby doesn't just mean getting a dog- it means becoming part of a full fledged Helpless Hounds family tree. But of course, the tale continues: After 7 months in which he experienced everything from roaming to rescue, reunion to rejection, Gibby was thrilled to finally find a friend! We all hoped this was his happy ending, but unfortunately that chapter closed sooner than anyone anticipated. Now he has returned for Act 2: the part where our hero finally finds the redemption he deserves. Gibby dreams of a family of his very own- people who will meet his curiosity and energy with fun and engagement, but more importantly someone who sees him and is certain. His perfect place has room to run, tons of treats, spots to sniff, and a truckload of toys. When his adventures are all done, he's happy to crash on the couch and reap the rewards of being the best boy. In return, he'll offer lifelong loyalty, endless enthusiasm, charm, charisma, and mayyyybe some minor mischief. He's hoping for a home where he can truly thrive and experience his most exciting chapter yet- one filled with laughter, love, and all the little luxuries this (no longer Helpless) Hound deserves. Gibby's journey has been full of twists, turns, and lessons learned, and we just know the happy ending to his story is going to be one worth staying up for.
