Story
Delilah is a young hound who came from a rough situation in rural Oklahoma and is now settling happily into foster life in Tulsa. She's sweet, curious, and a little shy at first, but once she's comfortable she wants to know where you are and will check in if you're not sitting with her. She's house trained, comes when called, understands "no," and "uh-uh," and goes into her crate easily. She sleeps quietly and waits patiently to be let out. Delilah gets along well with other dogs, and is always down to join in on squirrel patrol. This girl loves to run in the yard- she's fast, graceful, and clearly enjoys stretching her legs and just being a dog. She'd do best in a home that gives her a little time to settle and lets her keep building confidence. All Delilah wants is a home to call her own, enough yard space to hit full speed and feel the wind in her ears, and someone to be nearby while she figures it all out.

Story
Coretta is a 3 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound who came from a difficult start. She was found alone in a rural area with no owner to be found, and it appeared she may have been abandoned, and there was evidence that her muzzle had previously been tied shut. Despite everything she had been through, Coretta never stopped wanting to be close to people. After spending time in a busy shelter environment, it became clear that kennel life was overwhelming for her. The shelter team worried that the longer she stayed there the harder it would be on her. When they reached out to Helpless Hounds looking for guidance, we fell in love. She is now safe in foster care and getting the chance to decompress and start fresh. What stands out most about Coretta is how deeply she loves people. She greets everyone like an old friend and seems convinced that every person she meets is there specifically to see her. She enjoys being part of the action and thrives when she gets attention, affection, and time with her people. She seems to almost have her feelings hurt if someone doesn't want to interact with her. Coretta already knows a couple of basic commands and is housebroken. Like many hounds she is smart, expressive, and eager to be involved in whatever her people are doing. What she needs most now is a home where she can truly be part of the family. After everything she has been through, Coretta deserves family who's just as obsessed with her as she will be with them.

Story
Meet Duke. Duke arrived at Helpless Hounds on 07-12-2025 after spending most of his life living on the streets of Pauls Valley, OK. He was first seen in the area about seven years earlier, with kind people making sure he was fed and checked on, but he had never had a home or even set foot inside one until coming into rescue. Since then, Duke has shown that he is a big-hearted, people-loving dog who enjoys a good walk followed by a solid nap. He is equal parts playful and affectionate, and he has a way of winning people over once he has time to settle. During a recent boarding stay, staff described Duke as happy, talkative, and energetic. He settled in easily and did well with other dogs, including playful beagle-sized dogs and larger shepherds . His playful energy, gentle cuddles, and unique personality made him a favorite with staff during his stay. Duke does well with most other dogs in the home and has all the love to give to his people. He enjoys exploring on walks, soaking up attention, and then crashing for some well earned rest. At the time of writing (3/10/2026), Duke has been waiting 241 days since intake and has experienced several foster transitions. He is likely ready to stop moving around and finally have the chance to relax in a place that is his own. If you are looking for a loyal companion who is a little silly, very sweet, and ready to trade foster hopping for forever, Duke is ready.

Story
Hi, I'm Roger! People ask me all the time, 'Roger, how did you become so handsome?' and 'Roger, how come you're so friendly?' and my only answer to them is that I was born like this. Don't worry though, I'm also smart enough to let you know if anyone's visiting! I love new people and I love to cuddle. Long story short, I'm what people call a 'good boy'. We could be best friends so come and meet me!

Story
Coney is a VERY funny puppy from our hot dog litter! This little guy was found abandoned in a playpen outside and was nervous around people at first- but NOT ANYMORE!! This guy is still all about attention- still loves belly rubs, still has the absolute cutest habit of smacking things (or nothing) with his front paws. What we've learned since having him in foster is that he has one of the biggest personalities of any puppy ever to live. He's very silly, playful, and vocal while still being eager to learn and genuinely wanting to please. Not only is he very snuggly, but he knows how to make his own fun- even when there's not much going on. Coney is an absolute joy to be around. He has a great sense of humor and impeccable comedic timing. He would benefit from a family who loves a dog who has lots to say and will allow him to shine without dimming his light (but maybe also help him learn when it's appropriate to shine). This little guy is the kind of dog who stands out despite being in a group of siblings who look pretty similar to him. He has officially stolen the heart of everyone he's met, learned that people are pretty great, discovered how fun being loved can be, and he's looking forward to a future full of so many good things he forgets that he ever had it any other way ❤️ P. S. We did a DNA test on Coney's litter! He's 55% Basset, and the rest is a mix of German Shepherd, Boxer, and Husky!

Story
Foster Location: New Jersey Thunder was found as a stray during a thunderstorm (hence the name) and got a second chance when he was adopted from a local shelter. Unfortunately, his nose- and instincts- have gotten him into trouble. Thunder discovered that chickens are delicious and very exciting to chase, and his current home couldn't keep him because of it. He's friendly with people, does well with other dogs, and has been around kids from toddler age up through pre-teen. Cats, birds and poultry are an absolute no unless it's for lunch. Thunder is smart, playful, and loves a ball and chew toys. He’s been primarily an outdoor dog, so he may need some guidance with house manners- but at just a year old, he's very capable of being a very good boy- he just needs consistency and patience.
