Our Moose Man! This sweet and sensitive guy is in search of the perfect home where he can thrive. Moose is both house trained and crate trained, making him an excellent indoor companion. He craves human company and would flourish with an owner who is frequently present. A true hound, he adores walks, relishing every opportunity to sniff around. While he enjoys a good vocal session, he is well-behaved on leash. Affectionate and playful, Moose is quick to reciprocate love. He communicates his needs effectively and is a joy to be around. Duke arrived at Helpless Hounds on 7-12-25. Before then, he had lived on the streets of Paul's Valley, OK for his whole life. He was 1st seen in the area about 7 years ago, and over the years several people kept him fed, and checked on him, but he had never had a home or even set foot inside a house before. Now, we are happy to report that Duke is a big-hearted dog with a love for walks and nap time! This handsome guy does well with most other dogs in the home, and he has allllll the love to give to his people!! Duke enjoys exploring on his daily walks and then crashing for a good snooze right after. He’s looking for a loving home where he can stay forever. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts silly and sweet, Duke is your guy! 🐶🖤

This sweet black and tan coonhound wandered up near Talala just days before Thanksgiving- hungry, scared, and hoping someone might notice her. In only two days, she's shown how gentle and friendly she really is. She happily greets new people, does well with an 11 year old child, is friendly with other dogs, but has made it clear she's not looking to befriend chickens. She even sits politely and comes when called, which is pretty adorable for a little stray who hasn't had much guidance.

Miss Beans is a sweet, sensitive hound with a big heart and some very real challenges. She's affectionate and loyal once she trusts you, but she needs an experienced, steady hand to guide her. Beans has anxiety and noise sensitivities, and she can be reactive in certain situations. She has a history of resource guarding and fear based aggression toward children and unfamiliar visitors, so she must go to a home with dog savvy adults only- no kids and no other dogs. Her ideal person is calm, consistent, and confident- someone who understands reactivity and guarding behavior and is comfortable maintaining structure and boundaries. She's made progress with daily medication, routine, and exercise, and she would thrive somewhere where life is predictable and gentle. Miss Beans loves long walks, does great on a leash, loves hiking, rolling in the grass, and playing with tennis balls. She's housebroken, non-destructive, and enjoys quiet time after activity. She can be leash reactive with other dogs. This girl is hoping to find her perfect match. In the right hands, she'll be a devoted, affectionate companion, she just needs someone to meet her where she is.

Meet Ponyboy! This guy is a 22 month old Treeing Walker Coonhound with bright puppy energy and a big heart. He's playful, social, loves other dogs, is amazing with kids, and has been gentle and affectionate with babies and toddlers. He's housebroken, crate trained, and has formal obedience training (including Tip Top K9 work and e-collar foundation). He's the definition of a fun, active companion who loves adventures, sniffing, running, and curling up afterward. Ponyboy is being rehomed after a single, very specific bite incident that happened when he got his foot stuck in a chair and reacted out of fear and pain. The bite was understandably scary for his family - especially his mom, who has a traumatic history of being bitten - and this was a truly difficult, emotional decision for them. Outside of that moment, Ponyboy has never shown aggression- his entire history is full of gentle, friendly, easy behavior with both people and dogs. Given the context, we're hopeful this was a one-off panic reaction rather than a pattern, though he may still benefit from confidence building and careful handling in stressful situations. At his core, Ponyboy is an athletic, cheerful young hound who thrives with activity, structure, and connection. He'd love a home with space to run, plenty of enrichment, and ideally another energetic dog to play with. If you're looking for a loyal adventure buddy with all the foundations already in place, Ponyboy is your guy.
