Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 11/14/25 Roxy, 18 to 24 months old, 50 lbs, vetted, spayed, monthly flea prevention and 12 month heartworm prevention. We do not know her breed, she is likely very mixed. This site makes us pick a breed, so we went with Kelpie mix bc that’s what my phone guessed she was! Roxy is a work in progress. She was found living in the woods, emaciated and covered in fleas and ticks. For the first few weeks, she was completely withdrawn. She had no interest in playing and didn't speak or bark. Roxy loves to play now and talks alot( I don't always know what she is saying, but I always answer her). Learning to leash walks and potty training are works in progress. Her past has caused food aggression ( she eats in her crate) and mild separation anxiety ( after a couple of hours in her crate, she wants out to be with people). Roxy's ideal home is a large yard for her to run and a patient devoted parent dedicated to helping her overcome her past and live a happy life. Roxy is located in Arkansas and can be adopted locally, or she can transport to the New England area if adopted there. If adopted in New England, her adopter will need to pick her up (or arrange for a trusted friend/family to pick him up) on a Saturday in PA, NY, or CT. Residents of other states may adopt as well, as long as they can meet our transporter along their route. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hey all, I'm Sheila, a 60# gal 3 years old thought to be an Anatolian Shepherd mix of something! Left at my disabled 'Grandma's House' by owners, Grandma had no way to care for me correctly. After a few months of trying, she turned me into a shelter in WV. Unfortunately Grandma didn't know it was a High Kill Shelter. YIKES! Double YIKES!! Fortunately, word went out far and wide, SAVE SHEILA, SAVE SHEILA! Cries were heard and I'm now in a loving foster home in Dillsburg.Got other doggie friends here to show me the ropes and I'm doing fine per foster mom/dad. I'm true to my 'possible' breed in temperment being good with other dogs, people, children (not toddlers as my 'Zest for Life' does get the better of me. I am smart as a whip already know sit, down, give both paws, am crate trained & house trained, with a little stubborn streak thrown in for good measures! Mom is teaching me Patients, Sit and Wait before going out the door. :) NO Way am I going to be protective. So far I've shown only friendliness, kiss giving and a 'Lets Party Attitude' to new people. Leash walking is still work in progress, I pull some. Mom hopes this will improve with her training. I do need a fair amount of exercise. A dog park would be great or another buddy dog for romping. My recall is a work in progress as well. Physical Fence/Underground Fence at this point but with Treats, mom is working on recall so that may change. I am VERY FOOD MOTIVATED! Life is short and the New Year is coming. Maybe we can Start the New Year with a BANG Together!  Interested in meeting me?  Complete an on-line application at www.CastawayCritters.org/adopt.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 7, 2025, 9:41 pm
