After a few months of trying, she turned me into a shelter in WV. Unfortunately Grandma didn't know it was a High Kill Shelter. YIKES! Double YIKES!! Fortunately, word went out far and wide, SAVE SHEILA, SAVE SHEILA! Cries were heard and I'm now in a loving foster home in Dillsburg. Got other doggie friends here to show me the ropes and I'm doing fine per foster mom/dad.  I did get my Christmas wish and was adopted, but sadly, I was returned ON CHRISTMAS! Not the gift I was looking for. The family, though nice, didn't know their abilities to walk a gal with energy. Yes, I admit I need walking skills yet, but foster mom, though old and gray, is able to walk me NO ISSUES. Guess we all are different. So, here's my story, Sad to be returned but that perfect family is out there!  Good with other dogs, people, children (not toddlers) I do admit my 'Zest for Life' does get the better of me with excitement with life it's self! Smart as a whip already knowing sit, down, give both paws, am crate trained & house trained, I do have a little stubborn streak thrown in for good measures! Now learning Patients, Sit and Wait at door and to eat. I do pull on a leash, but can learn or use of a Halti would stop that no problem.  NO Way am I going to be protective. So far I've shown only friendliness, kiss giving and a 'Lets Party Attitude' to new people.  My recall has improved but a Physical Fence/Underground Fence would be best for me. I am VERY FOOD MOTIVATED!  Life is short let's Start the New Year with a BANG Together!  Interested in meeting me?  Complete an on-line application at www.CastawayCritters.org/adopt. Clyde was found on a desolate mountain road, in rural central Pa, in February 2025. We took him in thinking it would be temporary and the dog warden would help us find him a home. She just basically ghosted us after that. He is a big fluffy, kissy boy who wants love and pets, and of course treats. He gets along great with our smaller dogs but he and our male Staffy HATE each other and we've had several fights. Our female pit is very reactive to those fights and goes after our smaller dogs just because she gets so worked up. Clyde has also tried to eat our chickens, and attack one of our goats. We've been able to make it sort of work with rotating crate times, but that no longer works for our situation. We don't want to take him to a shelter or have him put down, because he really is a good dog. Unfortunately the hate between he and our Staffy presents a danger to us and our other pets. He is neutered but not chipped, and we will have his vax caught up soon.

Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER:  Tiny Tim “Tiny” PERSONALITY: Tiny can be on alert around people that are not regulars in the home however with some supervision and guidance he can warm up fast and become very loving. He has a bit of an “alpha” attitude and will occasionally have a low soft growl around small children. It is recommended he not be placed with any home that has pre teens or regular pack members that can over do it on attention. He is loyal and loving , he requires a lot of petting and attention. He does drool and will need help keeping his front legs cleaned often. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: He likes being around other regular pack members and will bark at anything he deems a threat including door bells. MEDICAL ISSUES: He may have allergies as his eyes often have a mucus build up in both eyes but he enjoys getting his eyes wiped. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: No pre teens or no homes with a immature personality as he does not like to be teased. A home with a lot of love to give because he cant get enough. He will joyfully greet regular pack members when the return home from even the shortest trips and will follow you around as long as you can handle. Fill out an Adoption Application We don’t know much about what happened to Finley before coming to Mastiffs to Mutts Rescue, but it wasn’t his best life. He was loved at some point, maybe when he was a small, fluffy puppy before he grew into the handsome boy he is now, but he remembers being loved. He remembers and he yearns for the love of a family. He wants to be hugged, he wants to be included, he wants to be cared for and he’s learning that’s possible again. HISTORY: Finley was dumped at an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky and put into a crate too small for him to stand up in. A local foster-based rescue pulled him and spent two months getting to know him and putting some much needed weight on him. When he was strong and healthy they contacted Mastiffs to Mutts Rescue to find him the perfect home. Finley is a one-year-old male Great Dane mix. Due to his age, he is not neutered and will not be until he’s at least eighteen months old. PERSONALITY: Finley is at the most wonderful age; old enough to be house trained and young enough to be a puppy. A 115-pound puppy that is eager to learn. He is happy, calm, friendly, playful and cuddly. He easily goes into his crate to eat and sleep but prefers to be with his housemates, both canine and human. His eyes are expressive, and his “wooooo” will clear up any confusion on how he is feeling. You’ll smile every time you hear it which will make his tail way even harder. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Finley enjoys playing with his Great Dane foster sister followed by a relaxing antler gnawing session or a nap. He really enjoys people and is very curious about anything that’s happening around him. Butt scratches, ear rubs and chilling with his family are also highlights of his day. MEDICAL ISSUES: Finley will need to be neutered at 18 months or after. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Finley looks like an adult, but he is a puppy and needs to be treated and trained as a puppy. He loves dogs of all sizes but he doesn’t read their body language well; he will need a housemate that is comfortable showing him how to be a good dog. He loves to meet new dogs and will immediately ask them to play. HISTORY: One owner who did not provide basic medical care so Izzy lived many year with out of control skin issues, ear infections, UTI’s, etc. PERSONALITY: Izzy is a sweet, friendly girl that loves meeting new people and welcoming them into the house. She loves attention and affection and will lean in hard for pets and ear scratches. She tends to spend her days snoozing away but when she gets the zoomies she takes them seriously and this girl can move despite her age.  She lives peacefully with a 60lb male mixed breed but is reactive when seeing dogs out on a walk. Izzy is a bit fearful of fireworks and thunderstorms and will sometimes get spooked by loud noises. Izzy likes things to happen on her own personal timeline and can be stubborn when they don’t. She will test limits by whining and carrying on (dancing around, stomping her feet, wagging her tail furiously while staring at you) to try to get her way. She’s learning that those things don’t work in our house but it’s hard not to laugh at her antics. She’ll do it to the other dog in the house too when he’s laying in a bed that she wants. She usually gets her way with the dog.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Napping, soaking up love and attention, laying in the sun MEDICAL ISSUES: With vet care and a quality diet Izzy’s skin issues and ear infections have cleared up and she is no longer a big itchy mess. She did have a mammary tumor removed while being spayed. She is not currently on any medications. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Izzy enjoys hanging out with her people, so a family that spends a lot of time around the house/yard/garden would be great for her.
