Story
Meet Jenga!
Location: Troy, MO
Jenga is a 2-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whose gentle soul tells the story of her past. Though she’s still young, the signs of her puppy-mill background are clear, but so is her incredible sweetness and capacity for love.
Jenga is especially comfortable with women and can be shy around men, likely reflecting past experiences. If approached while standing, she may cower or “pancake” to the floor. When you’re seated, however, she happily seeks affection. She will gently paw at her foster mom’s leg to ask for pets and then soak up all the attention she’s given. Belly rubs are a favorite, and she will often roll right over to ask for more.
She loves being close to her people and is happiest simply sharing the same space. Whether curled up in a cozy bed for nap time or following foster mom from room to room, Jenga is a true companion. At night, she goes straight to her comfy bed in the bedroom, settling in on foster mom’s side of the room to sleep peacefully.
Jenga gets along well with other dogs and would benefit from having a confident canine companion to help her continue building confidence. She has a funny little quirk and prefers that Ruby Cavaliers respect her personal “safe spot,” though other dogs don’t seem to bother her. She completely ignores cats.
She does not like being alone and if separated by a gate, she may paw or scratch gently for attention or simply curl up and wait until foster mom returns. She is a good eater and enjoys Fromm 4 Star nutrition, Rawbble, crunchy treats, and daily cardio chews. She is on Heartgard Plus and is learning to enjoy toys, especially chew toys.
Her Adoption Fee is $400. She is up to date on all vaccines and vetting. Recently has had her spay surgery and dental cleaning, so when recovered she will be ready to look for her forever home.
Doorways are still a challenge for Jenga, and she may sometimes need to be carried outside for potty breaks. With reassurance, praise, and the example of other dogs, she continues to make progress every day.
Jenga is blossoming into a loving little “Velcro dog.” If you are looking for a devoted shadow and don’t mind sharing your personal bubble, Jenga might just be the perfect girl for you.
Leia’s Hope is a volunteer-run, foster-based rescue. All of our dogs live in foster homes. Applications typically take 7-10 business days to process. Meet and greets are scheduled only after an application is approved. We do not transport dogs; adopters must travel to the dogs location in Troy, MO for the meet and greets and adoption.
Jenga is a 10-12 year commitment, and her adopter must be prepared to love and support her for her lifetime.
