This adventurous pup has a heart as big as his appetite for fun. Whether he's splashing in the water or zooming around the yard with his foster friend, Neal is always up for a good time. He absolutely loves going on walks and being near his foster family. Neal is a true companion — loyal, goofy, and always eager to make new friends (he believes strangers are just friends he hasn’t met yet!). His gentle nature shines through, especially around children, and he's become a sweet and patient buddy to the child in his foster home. Neal is also a champion snuggler. He’s happiest when curled up in your lap, giving kisses and soaking up love. Despite his playful side, he settles well and does great in his kennel when left alone. Story
Name: Black Jack Age: Puppy (DOB: 3/1/25) Gender: Male Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix Weight: 51 lbs Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Testing available upon request Child Friendly: Yes, older school-aged children preferred House Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Energy Level: Moderate Temperament: Easygoing, loving, and very tolerant of other dogs Requirement:  Not apartment-appropriate; could be suitable for a duplex or condo Adoption Fee: $450 + tax To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: Black Jack and his sister, Lickity Split (also available through Mending Spirits), were found as strays in Alabama when they were just puppies. They recently made the journey to Minnesota and are now looking for their second chance with a loving family. Black Jack is a very affectionate boy who loves to relax with his foster dad—especially in the recliner, where he’ll happily snuggle up for naps. He’s easygoing, well-mannered, and lives peacefully with five other dogs. He goes into his kennel willingly and already knows some basic commands. With his long legs, we suspect he may have some Great Dane in his mix! Black Jack will make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a gentle, loyal companion. About Me (from Black Jack): Hello, Minnesota! It was a long trip to get here, but I’m so happy to be in my new state! I was cared for by kind folks at HASRA in Alabama, where I got as much love as possible—even with 50 other dogs around. My sister and I are both here now, and I’m ready to find my forever family! My foster dad lets me jump into the recliner with him, and I fall asleep almost instantly—it feels so good to be safe and cozy. I know “sit,” “stay,” and “down,” and I have so much fun playing with the five dogs in my foster home. I can’t wait to meet my new family and start our life together. Please fill out an application so we can meet soon! Till then—enjoy life!     November 21, 2025, 4:22 pm

Story
Name: Laddie Age: 1 year Gender: Male Breed: Labrador Retriever  mix Weight: 53 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: Testing available upon request Child friendly: yes House trained: yes  Crate trained: yes Energy level: medium Temperament: Intelligent, playful, loving, kind, shy at first, but warms up quickly  Requirement: Not suited for apartment living, but would thrive in a townhome or condo Adoption Fee: $400+tax To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: Laddie and his sister were found as strays and spent months at a women’s home confined to a kennel together.  When Laddie first got to MN he was very afraid and hid outside for the first few days.  I can now pet him and take him for walks, and bring him to the backyard, and he comes in when called.  He wants to have people pet him, but is shy with new people.  He plays well with other dogs.  He has been in my house with 7 other dogs, and one was a 3-month-old puppy, and he did well with them.  He loves to hang out in his kennel.  He will need a patient home where he can get used to the new surroundings and feel comfortable.  On our walks, he displays a good nose for scents and loves seeing the birds in the field.  He is on the smaller side for a Lab and will be a very nice dog given some time. About Me:  I can’t believe how long that drive was to MN.  I am really happy to be here, even though at first I seemed very scared.  I’ve had a lot of things happen to me in my first year of life.  I am looking for a family that will take time with me and show me what a dog is supposed to do. HASRA saved myself my sister and me from living in that kennel for months on Christmas Day.  What a relief that was.  Now I am in MN and determined to find that family that will bring the best out of me.  Please think about filling out an application, and let's meet!  Thanks Laddie August 13, 2025, 6:38 pm
