Piper is a senior dog who has endured a lot in her time both emotionally and medically; now pair that with age-related items it's no wonder she needs a special place to land. Piper does exhibit strong guardian characteristics of her breed. She is always observing and watching so this means that unknown dogs, other random animals(ie-deer, coyote, fox, raccoon), or overly animated loud people in her bubble will trigger her to become protective of herself. This Means- alert barking and growls and even charging at other animals. She does need calm intros with strangers. She will NOT tolerate unknown or loud people in her bubble, especially in her face, it scares her. Accepting unknown dogs on home turf also applies when entering the home and does require structured slow intros over long periods of time. As a senior gal, her activity level overall is low. She LOVES going for walks, car rides(her FAVORITE), GENTLE affection/interaction with humans, and short-session gentle play-type activities. She would be a marvelous candidate as a trucker's dog and would absolutely love the road life! It is required that PIPER not be allowed to roam off leash at any time except when in a fully fenced secure space. A large physically fully fenced yard is NOT an adoption requirement for her. Piper takes affordable medications for allergies, a preventative ear wash, and anxiety. Overall, Piper is truly a one-of-a-kind soul who deserves a well-suited experienced home and handler to ensure safe lifelong well-being. It is required that those interested, own their home, be calm yet assertive, be savvy and comfortable with guardian behavior, and be fully aware of the necessary items that successfully promote lifelong ownership of such a majestic and noble dog.
