Story
Roanoke is a handsome Black Lab with a heart full of potential and a puppy spirit tucked inside an adult body. He’s incredibly food-motivated, eager to learn, and absolutely adores people. While he can be a little nervous at first, his curiosity quickly shines through as he takes in the world around him. Roanoke loves his toys, enjoys relaxing and watching TV with his humans, and shows great promise as a sporting or active companion. He’s a smart, affectionate boy who simply hasn’t had the chance to learn all the things a beloved family dog gets to learn—but he’s more than ready now. This sweet boy dreams of being someone’s spoiled baby and loyal best friend. All he’s waiting for is a patient, loving person willing to take a chance on him. Could that be you? ##2596856##

Story
Jax is a handsome black Lab mix with a heart full of love and a toy collection he takes very seriously. At about 1 to 1½ years old, he’s still got that joyful puppy energy — especially once he feels safe and comfortable. At first, Jax can be a little shy. New people and new places make him pause and observe. But give him a few minutes, a gentle voice, and maybe a squeaky toy… and his true personality shines! Once he warms up, he’s playful, silly, and happiest when he’s carrying around as many toys as he can fit in his mouth. If you’re missing a toy, check Jax’s stash. Jax is very dog-friendly and loves having canine buddies to play with. Another playful dog in the home would be a big plus for this social boy. He’d thrive in a home that understands shy dogs and will let him build confidence at his own pace. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will blossom with patience, reward you with endless playtime, and keep your house full of laughter (and scattered toys), Jax might just be your perfect match. Story
Sunny is a sweet, sensitive soul around 2 years old who came to us from a small town in New Mexico, where he was found as a stray with his litter. He’s since made the journey to Illinois and is now looking for a calm, understanding home to call his own. Sunny is very shy at first, but once he feels safe and trusts you, he truly shines. He loves laying close to his people and quietly soaking up affection—he’s the ultimate couch companion. If you’re searching for a bold, outgoing, life-of-the-party dog, Sunny isn’t your guy. But if your perfect evening includes cuddling on the couch and watching Dateline with a gentle, loyal companion, our Sunny Bunny just might be your match. Sunny looks to his humans for reassurance and guidance. He’s not one to boldly try new things on his own—whether it’s hopping on the couch or entering a new room, he’ll check in with his people first to make sure it’s safe and okay. He thrives with patient humans who can gently encourage and support him. He is about 98% potty and house trained and does well in a kennel when needed. Dog friendly? Possibly—with management. Sunny currently lives in a foster home with multiple dogs and is very submissive. His best friend is a 5-lb Chihuahua! However, there was a serious incident when Sunny was left unsupervised and another dog was injured. We don’t know what triggered the situation, so for everyone’s safety, Sunny should be crated when his humans are not home and carefully managed around other dogs. A home where he can be the only dog, or one with experienced owners who understand management and supervision, may be the best fit. Sunny is incredibly loyal to the people he trusts. He’s a deeply sensitive boy who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved, and reassured by his humans. With patience and understanding, Sunny Bunny will be a devoted and loving companion. ##2654749##
