Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

These pups are in Seguin, Texas too!

Story
Meet our resident girl, Goldie Locks! Aptly named for her beautiful golden fur. Her foster mom loves her soft velvet ears & Goldie enjoys having them rubbed and scratched. Goldie has a natural beauty mark right above her right eyebrow, which gives her a classic look. Goldie will lie her head on your hip while you work or watch a movie. She is a very sweet girl & loves belly rubs. Goldie loves her foster family and has quickly decided she loves the children of the home as well. She is very independent and will let you know when she's ready for pets and play. Goldie is already settling nicely into a home after being placed in the shelter. Sadly, we do not know Goldies past, but we do know she gave birth right before she arrived. We do not believe she lived in a home before, as she was shy and unsure. After spending time in her foster home, she is starting to bloom and come out of her shell. She's starting to love to run around and get attention from everyone in the home. She loves to run and really enjoys the backyard. She's very smart and is now moving on to her next trick, which is learning how to fetch! She sure does love it! She knows how to sit & lie down and leave it. She's such a gentle treat taker and very treat motivated. She likes to have her own space in the home, she stays alone sometimes at her foster home and just takes a nice little nap while they are away. Surprisingly though, Goldie knows how to go potty outside and is fully house trained already. We ask that her new family respects her space and gives her room to get comfortable in her new environment. Right now, Goldie lives with her human foster children (9 & 11) and interacts well with them. She doesn't interact with the resident cats right now but is very interested in them. Goldie also has a fur foster brother who is a large dog of 60lbs. It's taken Goldie Locks a bit to decide they can be friends, but now they run and play and enjoy each other's company in the yard. We think she would be well placed with a low energy or older dog, or the only dog in the home. A Meet n Greet is recommended with any resident dogs. Goldie girl doesn't mind car rides, and hops right in. Sweet Goldie has access to toys and has been offered many to play with. She's still getting the hang of a home, fetching, and playing. She is still a bit independent and just needs a little more time to decide "how to dog." She would be fantastic in a lower traffic home, so she has time and space to accumulate. She will need continued patience from her new family on her house manners and work on her leash-walking skills. She's been good on a leash in familiar areas so far and will need to continue to work on being comfortable in new areas as well. Goldie would like a yard to play in and would consider a dog sibling of lower energy. Her foster family loves Goldie and can't wait to see her open up and thrive in her forever home. They say when you look into her eyes she tells you, "I've not been treated right in the past, but I am a good good girl and I just want to be loved.” To see more pictures and videos of Goldie copy and paste this link: https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-139 You can apply directly for Goldie by clicking the “Apply for Adoption” button on the linked page. Story
Hi everyone. Remember me? It's Kris Kross, your favorite GCAC alum. I got rescued by Friends of Dogs in July 2023. I was a mess when the officers brought me in. I had a thin scar around my neck from where I used to be tied up. That hurt. I also had a sore back ankle and infected ears. To top things off, my eyes are kind of crossed. Friends of Dogs didn't save me because they felt sorry for me. They saved me because I'm a sweet, happy guy who deserves a shot at a good life. They saved me because I have a kind heart. I guess kind hearts always recognize other kind hearts. Ms. Susan took me home and then to the vet to assess me. Well I'm about 3 years old, 43 pounds and heartworm negative. The vet thinks I may have had some trauma to my head at some time affecting my brain and also causing my eyes to cross. My sore ankle is from previous trauma but the vet didn't think I was in pain from it. Could be the injury to my leg caused it to grow incorrectly. I'm still growing and my growth plates aren't fused yet. So we'll wait and see about that. Right now it gives me a cute little hop when I walk. Ms. Susan has been keeping me safe and secure since then and letting me get comfortable in a caring place I've never had before. I've been neutered and I'm ready for my next step in life's journey. I need a special home or sanctuary. My greatest joy in life is to be with people. I yearn to be close to you and long for your tender touch. I'll soak up your pets and cuddles like a sponge. Sure I'm fine with other dogs and enjoy the company. I'm cordial and polite to the other dogs and then hurry to get back inside with my people. So there I am. I can be a little anxious and needy likely due to my past trauma. I'm a special boy with a lot to offer. I'm ready to go to a home that understands my needs. I'm up for going to another rescue which is used to dealing with dogs like me and could pair me with just the right home. So many possibilities. I just need the right one. Please share my story. Someone out there is waiting just for me. He is microchipped, fully vaccinated, & neutered. He is being fostered in Seguin, TX and is ready for her new home.
