Story
Meet Lightning, a sweet and sensitive 1.5-year-old spayed female Chihuahua mix looking for a calm, committed forever home. Lightning thrives in a quiet, adult-only environment where her small size and occasional shyness can be respected and understood. Due to her delicate frame and resource sensitivities, homes with children are not recommended. Ideal adopters will have prior experience with small breeds and a solid understanding of their unique needs. Lightning enjoys daily leash walks and will benefit from a structured routine, but she is not suited for off-leash parks—her recall is still a work in progress, and she needs time to build trust and bonding. Her adopter should be ready to implement a food program that includes hand feeding, trade-ups, and enrichment tools like interactive bowls and toys. Enrollment in a basic manners class or private behavior training is required to help her continue building confidence and skills. If you’re a patient, experienced dog owner ready to bond with a gentle soul, Lightning may be the perfect match for you.

ALL ABOUT ME  Name: Jellybean Age: 2 years old (Born in 2023) Gender: Male Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Chihuahua Colour: Cream Weight: 4.5kg / 9lbs Feet to shoulder : 25cm   MY RESCUE STORY Hi, I’m Jellybean. I arrived at the local pound still wearing my little clothes and leash — as if someone was coming back for me. But no one ever did. Days passed, and I found myself on the euthanasia list simply because there wasn’t enough space. Just when it felt like all hope was lost, some amazing rescuers stepped in and gave me a second chance. Now I’m safe, and I’m ready to find a forever family who will never leave me behind.   MY HEALTH - Scheduled to receive Umbilical hernia surgery. - Otherwise, no known medical health issues and overall, in good health.   MY PERSONALITY Just like my name, I’m a sweet little bean who loves to socialize and soak up all the love and attention from people. I’m a cheerful little Chihuahua, full of life, charm, and endless tiny tail wags — always ready to bring a smile to your face. I may be small, but my heart is big, and I can’t wait to share it with a forever family who’s ready for all the love and snuggles I have to give.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS - With People:  I warm up to people quickly and love rubbing up against them to ask for affection — I’m the perfect little snuggle buddy! You can easily scoop me up, and I’ll happily settle in your arms. I haven’t met any kids just yet, but with my friendly and gentle nature, I’m sure I’ll do just fine with respectful, kind-hearted little ones who know how to give me space when I need it.   - With Dogs: I enjoy meeting new dog friends and will greet them politely, but I’m generally a bit indifferent and tend to keep to myself.   - With Cats:  I haven’t had the chance to meet any cats yet, but I’m friendly by nature and believe I could learn to welcome them into my family — especially with slow, gentle introductions and plenty of patience.   ENERGY AND ACTIVITIES I’ve got plenty of playful energy and love to zoom around and get my wiggles out before settling in. Once I’ve had my fun, I’m all about snuggling and relaxing at home — the perfect mix of lively and laid-back!   TRAINING & HABITS I walk fairly well on a leash, though I can get a little excited and pull when something catches my eye — but I focus well on my handler and respond to gentle guidance. I don’t guard my food from people or other dogs, which makes me an easygoing mealtime companion. Car rides can make me a bit nervous, so I feel safest when I’m being carried in your arms where I can feel comforted. I’m both indoor and outdoor potty trained, though I might do a little pee marking when I’m adjusting to new surroundings — I’m still learning! With a little patience and love, I settle in quickly and do my best to be a good boy.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m looking for a patient, loving family who can help guide and let me become my best self. I’ll thrive in a home with: - A family who can provide me with a calm, structured, and safe environment. - A family who likes to do outdoors activities and spend time together. - A family who is willing to shower me with love and affection.   SPECIAL NOTES I’m ready to leave my past behind and start a fresh, happy chapter with a loving family. I’m a sweet, happy boy with a gentle heart and a face so cute, I know it’s hard to say no when I give a little whine to ask for something! I get along well with people and other dogs, but I’m definitely more of a people-pup—I just love being close to my humans. With my joyful spirit and loving nature, I can’t wait to bring lots of warmth and happiness to my forever home.   For More YouTube Clips, Click Here! Jellybean’s Playlist ##2410256##

Story
Location: Didsbury, AB// Age: Approx 3 years// Sex: Neutered male// Energy level: Low/medium// Vaccines: Up to date// Dogs: Yes// Cats: Untested but likely yes// Kids: Yes, but would be happiest living in a kid free home// Meet Manito – the one-eyed wonder with a heart full of love and a happy dance to match! 🌞💃 Manito is a charming little chihuahua, about 3 years old, who’s ready to find his forever sunbeam (and family) to call his own. Neutered, vaccinated, and full of gentle good vibes, Manito is the definition of easy-going. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves nothing more than a short, casual stroll—he’s a perfect little walker on leash and enjoys getting out at least once a day. While he’s an independent guy, Manito also loves to be near his people. If you’ve got a good lap, he’s got a great cuddle ready for you! Like many chihuahuas, he’s got a bit of that classic protective streak—he may take a moment to warm up to new people, but once you’re in his circle, you’re family. He would thrive in a calm, quiet home without children or high-energy pets. Think cozy vibes, soft blankets, and sunshine naps. Speaking of sunshine—Manito’s favourite pastime is lounging outside in a warm patch of sun. A backyard or sunny patio is a must-have for this little sunbather. When he’s happy (which is often), he busts out his adorable happy dance—it’s guaranteed to make you smile. Manito is uniquely handsome with one soulful eye and quirky little crooked toes that only add to his charm. He’s not crate trained but doesn’t need to be—he’s completely non-destructive and does just fine with free roam when left alone. He’s still working on his house training, but he’s getting better every day with a little patience and consistency. If you’re looking for a chill, sun-loving companion with a heart of gold, a touch of sass, and a dance that will brighten your day, Manito just might be your perfect match. 💛 complete an application on our website to apply to meet him: www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com

Story
Milly is an 8-year-old Chihuahua with a heart full of love, just waiting to be unlocked. This little lady came into our care after the heartbreaking passing of her beloved owner. While she's been through a lot of change recently, we're dedicated to finding her the perfect, loving home she deserves. In her previous life, Milly enjoyed the company of other small dogs, mostly Chihuahuas just like herself! She’s also good with cats. She's comfortable around canine companions her size, however, she didn’t receive much socialization outside her immediate pack and lacks experience in areas like leash walking. Since coming into care Milly has learned that peeing outside isn’t so bad so she is now house trained. Since joining our rescue Milly has been making strides adapting to wearing a harness and experiencing the simple pleasures of a walk, like sniffing the fresh grass beneath her little paws. Milly is searching for a special home, one with someone who understands the unique charm and quirks of the Chihuahua breed. She is best suited in a home with a single person or a quiet couple who can provide her with the individual attention and unwavering love she craves. Milly bonds deeply with her person and will be a loyal and affectionate companion. She is not suited for a busy home with children. It's important to remember that losing her owner has left Milly feeling scared and unsure. She needs a patient and understanding owner who will allow her the time and space to adjust to her new surroundings. She appreciates calm environments and a gentle approach as she learns to trust and feel secure again. Milly is a sweet and deserving girl who deserves to spend her golden years in a loving and supportive home. Important Considerations: Experience with Chihuahuas: Knowledge of the breed's specific needs and tendencies is a definite plus! Patience and Understanding: Milly needs time to adjust and build trust. Quiet Home Environment: A calm and predictable environment will help her feel safe and secure. Future Veterinary Care: Milly has had a full dental procedure, and there is a possibility she may need a future procedure to address eye ulcers. This is fully covered by the rescue to ensure her ongoing health and well-being.
