Story
Location: Didsbury, AB// Age: Approx 3 years// Sex: Neutered male// Energy level: Low/medium// Vaccines: Up to date// Dogs: Yes// Cats: Untested but likely yes// Kids: Yes, but would be happiest living in a kid free home// Medical: Manito's health checks out great, but he has had a couple "wobbly episodes" in the past, our medical coordinator can explain to any interested adopters. Meet Manito – the one-eyed wonder with a heart full of love and a happy dance to match! 🌞💃 Manito is a charming little chihuahua, about 3 years old, who’s ready to find his forever sunbeam (and family) to call his own. Neutered, vaccinated, and full of gentle good vibes, Manito is the definition of easy-going. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves nothing more than a short, casual stroll—he’s a perfect little walker on leash and enjoys getting out at least once a day. While he’s an independent guy, Manito also loves to be near his people. If you’ve got a good lap, he’s got a great cuddle ready for you! Like many chihuahuas, he’s got a bit of that classic protective streak and enjoys eating his food in a peaceful place. He also doesnt enjoy other dogs disturbing him while he sleeps, so respectful friends are important. He would thrive in a calm, quiet home without children or high-energy pets. Think cozy vibes, soft blankets, and sunshine naps. Speaking of sunshine—Manito’s favourite pastime is lounging outside in a warm patch of sun. A backyard or sunny patio is a must-have for this little sunbather. When he’s happy (which is often), he busts out his adorable happy dance—it’s guaranteed to make you smile. Manito is uniquely handsome with one soulful eye and quirky little crooked toes that only add to his charm. He’s not crate trained but doesn’t need to be—he’s completely non-destructive and does just fine with free roam when left alone for short periods. He’s still working on his house training, but he’s getting better every day with a little patience and consistency. If you’re looking for a chill, sun-loving companion with a heart of gold, a touch of sass, and a dance that will brighten your day, Manito just might be your perfect match. 💛 complete an application on our website to apply to meet him: www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com

Story
Location: Didsbury, AB. Age: Approx 5 years Size: Small Sex: Neutred Male Energy level: Low Vaccines: Up to date Dogs: Yes Cats: Yes Kids: Kids 15+ Meet Toto, a sweet and shy boy with a heart full of love to give. Toto may take some time to adjust to a new home, but once he trusts you, his affection is endless. His journey has been a little rocky, and he’s still learning to feel safe in the world around him. Toto’s kennel is his safe haven, and while he loves to cuddle up on the bed with his human, he feels most secure sleeping in his kennel at night. Toto is a very quiet boy and hasn’t barked a single time—he’s peaceful and gentle, never a troublemaker. However, he’s quite nervous about being picked up or handled, and leashed walks are too overwhelming for him at the moment. He’ll need a patient adopter who understands that he might need time to build confidence and feel comfortable in new situations. Toto gets along well with other dogs and would be fine around dog-savvy cats, though he appreciates his space, especially when he’s sleeping in his kennel. He’s a bit of a homebody and has enjoyed camping trips with his foster family, though he’d rather stay in a quiet, loving home where he can feel safe and secure. This sweet boy eats a special dehydrated dog food that’s easy on his sensitive teeth, as many of his teeth were removed. Despite his ruff start, Toto has never held a grudge—he’s all about the love and enjoys getting spoiled. One of the cutest things about Toto is his pre- and post-meal “dance”! He’s so excited for food time that he can’t help but do a little happy wiggle and shuffle before and after each meal. It’s a small, adorable quirk that’s guaranteed to make you smile! Toto is looking for an adopter who will be patient and understanding, someone who can give him the time and care he needs to blossom into the affectionate companion he’s meant to be. If you’re ready to offer Toto a quiet, loving home where he can feel safe, secure, and showered with affection, he just might be the perfect fit for you! Toto would do best in a home with another pet and no children due to his nervous nature. A quiet, stable home with a predictable routine would be a dream for this boy. If you think your home would be a good match for Toto, please complete an adoption application on our website and one of our team members will be in touch with you shortly via email to arrange a phone interview.

Story
All About Me Name: VeroAge: 6 years oldGender: FemaleSpayed: ScheduledBreed: ChihuahuaColor: Black & WhiteWeight: 3.5 kg / 8 lbsMicrochip: Yes   My Personality Hello! I’m Vero. I was rescued with my babies from an illegal breeding home. My daughter is adopted and I have been slowly preparing myself to be fully ready. Here I am! I am now ready to be part of your family. I can be a little reserved at first who wouldn’t be, after all I’ve been through? But if you offer me a treat or speak to me gently, you’ll quickly see how affectionate I really am. Once I feel safe, I become incredibly loving, following my people around and leaning in for attention. I’m calm, clever, and quietly loyal. And yes, I’ll even roll over to show you my belly when I feel at ease.   Social Skills - With People: I warm up quickly, especially if snacks are involved! I haven’t spent time around young children, but I do well with adults who are gentle and respectful. You can pick me up easily, and I’m happiest snuggled close to someone I trust.   - With Other Dogs: I don’t mind being around other dogs, especially those my size, but I’m more of a companion than a playmate. I prefer peaceful coexistence and usually keep to myself. That said, I do like my food, so I’d appreciate a little space at mealtime just to make sure no one tries to sneak a bite of my bowl.   - With Cats: I haven’t met a cat yet, so we’re not sure how I’d feel. A careful, slow introduction would be best if one is in the family   On My Walks‍ I’m an experienced walker and enjoy exploring at a calm, steady pace. I don’t pull on the leash and stay close to my person. it’s one of the best parts of my day! After a nice walk, I’m happy to curl up and rest quietly.   Life at Home At home, I’m an easy and well-mannered housemate. I know how to use pee pads and also do my business outside. I’m flexible like that!  Occasionally, I’ll bark if I want something, but mostly, I’m a quiet observer who’s happy just being near the people I love. Though I’ve spent much of my life focused on motherhood, I’m now ready to be someone’s baby to receive the attention and love I always gave to others. I may have lived in the background before, but I have so much warmth and affection waiting to be shared.   My Ideal Home I’m looking for a calm, kind home where I can finally relax and be loved for who I am. Whether you’re a single person looking for a gentle shadow or a quiet family wanting a sweet companion, I think we might be a match. My perfect home would have: - A patient and loving person who understands that trust is earned gently - A peaceful environment without too much chaos or commotion - Someone who sees my quiet charm and gives me space to shine   I’ve lived a life where gentleness was rare. With love, I’ll blossom into the devoted companion I was always meant to be.   For More YouTube Clips, Click Here! Vero’s Playlist ##2433425##

Story
ALL ABOUT ME  Name: Petite Age : Approx. 4 yrs old Gender: Female Spayed/Neutered: Scheduled Breed: Chihuahua mix Colour: White Weight: 4kg / 9lbs Microchipped: Yes   MY RESCUE STORY Hi everyone! I’m Petite. I was found all alone by a river, wearing a yellow and black striped jacket, feeling lost and scared. Animal control brought me in, but with so many pups in need, I was sadly placed on the euthanasia list at the city pound. Thankfully, some kind and caring rescuers saw my story and stepped in just in time to give me a second chance at life. Now, I’m ready to leave the past behind and find a warm, loving forever home where I can share all my love and happiness!   MY HEALTH Fully vaccinated (5-round series complete) In good health, with no known medical issues   MY PERSONALITY Just like my name, I’m petite in size but big in heart—a tiny Chihuahua mix full of charm and sweetness! Volunteers and staff can’t stop gushing about how adorably tiny and cute I am, and trust me, pictures just don’t capture all my lovable fluff and sparkle. I might be a little shy at first, taking a moment to feel comfortable, but all it takes is a gentle hand, some tasty treats, and soft pets to melt away my shyness. Once I warm up, I’m a little sweetheart who loves to snuggle and shower you with affection!   MY SOCIAL SKILLS - With People:  I can be a bit shy at first, but just give me a little time and some tasty treats, and I’ll warm up to you in no time! Once I feel comfortable, I’ll happily soak up pets and won’t hesitate to demand your attention—I just can’t help myself! Plus, you can easily pick me up—after all, who could resist a little bundle of cuteness like me?   - With Dogs: I enjoy greeting other dogs but usually prefer to keep to myself and observe from a distance. Energetic dogs can sometimes overwhelm me, so I appreciate a calm, structured environment. When it comes to my food, I can be a bit sensitive if other dogs get too close—I’ll gently growl to let them know I need my space.   - With Cats:  I haven’t met any cats yet, but with slow, gentle introductions and some patience, I’m confident I could learn to live peacefully alongside a feline friend.   ENERGY AND ACTIVITIES I have a moderate energy level—I enjoy spending time outdoors exploring, but I also love to snuggle up and relax indoors.   TRAINING & HABITS I walk nicely on leash and follow my handler well. I don’t guard my food or toys around people, and while I’m usually calm, I might bark gently when I want your attention. I’m comfortable resting quietly in my kennel and prefer to do my potty outside. When I need to protect my space around other dogs, I’ll gently growl, but that’s as far as it goes.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m looking for a patient, loving family who can help guide and let me become my best self. I’ll thrive in a home with:   - A family who can provide me with a calm, structured, and safe environment. - A family who understands that I can be protective of my food around other dogs, and is willing to use positive reinforcement to gently guide me toward feeling more relaxed and patient during mealtimes. - Ideally, I’d be the only dog in the household to help me feel my best and most comfortable. - A family who likes to do outdoors activities and spend time together.   SPECIAL NOTES I’m not quite sure how I ended up all alone, but I’m ready to leave my past behind and start a fresh, happy chapter! Despite my tiny size, I’m absolutely adorable and full of personality that will surely steal your heart. At first, I might be a little shy and stand-offish, putting up a small guard, but with some patience and tasty treats, I’ll quickly become your loyal and loving companion. When meeting new dogs, I do need gentle, thoughtful introductions since energetic pups can overwhelm me. Even if I’m unsure or uncomfortable, I’ll kindly use a gentle growl to let them know how I’m feeling and what I need.   For More YouTube Clips, Click Here! Petite’s Playlist ##2434785##
