Story
Sex: MaleBreed: Chihuahua/Pug xEstimated Date of Birth : 03/01/2023Shy dogs are almost always overlooked and Banjo was one of those dogs. His shy exterior hid a super sweet boy just looking for a chance to belong. A chance to know love and a chance to build trust. That’s all he needed to come out of his shell. Banjo bonds quickly to the humans willing to go slow and put in the work to gain his trust. Once his trust is gained he’ll be your new favorite lap buddy always up for any attention you’re willing to give or a snuggle session on the couch. He’s a really sweet little guy and is ready to find a family of his own. Banjo sat at our county shelter for a month after he’d been picked up as a stray. His previous family never came for him and no one was interested in adopting because he wasn’t instantly social. Just a shy brown dog that hovered towards the back of the kennel doing his best to not be noticed. But not noticed in a shelter environment is a death sentence and Banjo after a month at the shelter was euthanasia listed. Thankfully we had an open foster willing to give him his chance and Banjo made it out just in time and has settled into foster care. The longer he’s been with his foster family the more his personality has come out. Banjo is goofy, kinda fun and learning the skills he needs to find an adoptive family. He’s crate trained and working on his house training skills (he’s pretty close to mastering that too). He’s still a touch hesitant on leash, it’s hard when you’re a shy guy, but is building confidence daily. He loves toys and will happily entertain himself if there’s a bucket of toys around. He doesn’t bark a ton and is easy to redirect when he does bark. Banjo is hoping to find a patient family who understands that shy dogs need humans to go slow and go at the dog’s pace. He’d do best in a home with older respectful children that won’t crowd or rush him and would prefer no other dogs in the home as he struggles to share his families love. If you think you have Banjos ideal home fill out the application and let’s set up a time for you to meet and hopefully fall in love. Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Chihuahua Estimated Date of Birth : 01/01/2015Looking for the mature, couch potato, little lap warmer sort? Well we’ve got you covered. Meet Roxie! In true chihuahua fashion she’s never met a couch or blanket she didn’t love or a human she couldn’t convince to snuggle. She’s happiest burrowed right along side you and she doesn’t care if that “you” is someone she knows or not. No one is a stranger and every lap and person is fair game as far as Roxie is concerned. She walked into her foster home like she’d always lived there just happy to have all the same comforts she’d had before. Roxie was loved her entire life. She had three canine buddies of various sizes and a human man to give her all the things she needed. She lost everything in an instant when her human suddenly passed away. His passing wasn’t discovered for several days and poor Roxie and her dog friends were left all alone. Thankfully his family stepped up once they realized he’d passed and cared for the dogs while they worked on rescue placement. Roxie and her 3 friends scored a spot with us. Roxie is sweet, easy and really affectionate. Shes as quiet as a mouse, we haven’t heard her bark even once, and has a low key energy level. Shes great with other dogs and house trained too. She’ll even stand by the back door when she needs to go out. She’s a little plumb from all the good meals she got and needs to lose a pound or two and is definitely in need of a dental. This sweet girl would be the perfect fit for a family looking for a nice companion past all the antics of puppyhood and simply wanting someone to hang out and snuggle. Those are Roxie’s only goals and we feel confident we can find a home and family who will give her just that!
