He has a very sweet and lovable personality, but is a little shy in the beginning. With a little patience he warms up quickly though and is very affectionate. Recently thought he got diagnosed with diabetes and needs two insulin shots a day. He is doing very good with them and can live comfortably with it if properly monitored. He is very quiet and mellow and will make a wonderful addition to a loving person or family.Tom is about 9 years old, neutered, vaccinated had a dental. The were left behind when their drug addicted owner got evicted. He had them tied up in a dark room of the house with our food or water. They were rescued by a kind neighbor who had too many dogs already at her place and couldn't keep them. She contacted us and fortunately space had just opened and we couldn't say no. Simba is very shy and fearful but super sweet and gentle. He will warm up to TLC and loves to be held. He needs a person that will understand his shy personality and can give him a quiet home and patience. He is about 6 years old and weighs about 12 pounds. We could not let this happen to this cuter than a button love bug. He has fully recovered and get along fabulous with all the dogs here. This sassy, fun-loving 8-year-old chihuahua lived in a home, then another home, then was surrendered to the Castaic shelter, where she was scared, struggling, and unfortunately given the “rescue only” tag, which means a rescue had to pull her. Since she has been here with us, she is doing great. She is unbelievably athletic, smart, and quite affectionate. She struggles with other dogs, so we are working with her on that. She is an absolute love and would make a wonderful companion. We do require visits here to our rescue in Agua Dulce (Santa Clarita), CA, and in-person home checks for all adoptions.
