Story
Hi there. My name is Pirata. I was rescued from an abusive owner with my friend Nano. We have been recuperating in a foster home and are so grateful that Big Dog Ranch stepped in to save us and make us well. I love Pirata very much and need to remain in the same home. My foster mom loves to watch us play and wrestle. We do love walks, but have not really been trained on the leash and tend to pull. We are just a couple of senior citizens wishing to enjoy our twilight years in a safe loving home.

Story
Hello, my name is Disney. I am a chihuahua mix in my early teens (in human years) and am a bit shy but warm up as I get to know you. I have a big heart and plenty of energy for my age as long as I eat healthy food. But I'm also somewhat needy and get separation anxiety when my dad leaves me all alone. I was born with a light heart murmur that makes me prone to passing out sometimes when my dad comes home or anytime strangers visit but my dad knows how to keep that from happening. I am playful, healthy and sometimes obnoxious according to my dad because I need all the attention I can get! Unfortunately my dad's landlord doesn't want me in his house anymore so my dad says I have to find some new parents. I'm looking for a loving home and promise to be a good girl if you adopt me but I can't promise that I won't make you fall in love with me!

Story
Meet Ted: Ted is a lovable 6-year-old Chihuahua mix who was rescued from North Carolina in November 2025. With his moderate energy level, he’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a furry friend who enjoys playtime but also loves to relax and cuddle. Ted is great on a leash and enjoys short walks, and he gets along well with other dogs, making him a friendly addition to a multi-pet household. He adores his toys, whether it’s tossing them around or snuggling up with one after a fun play session. Ted’s affectionate personality makes him especially well-suited for seniors or anyone looking for a loyal, loving companion. He’s also comfortable living in an apartment or condo, and his easygoing nature means he’ll happily adapt to his new home. You don’t need prior dog experience to adopt Ted—he’s ready to bring love and joy to any household!

Story
**ALL ADOPTIONS INCLUDE A HOME VISIT. YOU MUST LIVE IN BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** Meet Winter: A Tiny Soul Ready to Bloom With Love  This little beauty is Winter, a petite. Chihuahua with the softness of a snowflake and a spirit quietly waiting to be nurtured back into fullness. She may be small, but her heart has already shown remarkable courage. After surviving neglect, Winter arrived underweight and in need of care. She has since had a much-needed dental cleaning, and painful teeth were removed. Although her previous owner claimed she was five, our vet feels she is likely closer to eight years old, yet her spark is unmistakable. As her health improves and her body fills out, her true age may reveal itself more clearly. Now weighing just 5 pounds, she is gradually building muscle and gaining strength. With the support of high-quality cooked or canned food and gentle, consistent care, she is steadily blossoming. Her joy shows up in the sweetest ways, a soft fan-tail swish, tiny pounces of excitement on her front paws, and the way she lovingly shadows her foster parents around the home as her daily “fitness routine.” Winter will thrive in a quiet, adult home where she can be cherished, protected, and spoiled with all the comfort she missed before. She’s delicate, sensitive, and deeply loving, a little winter breeze looking for a warm heart to call home. If you’re someone who finds peace in nurturing, who appreciates gentle companionship and understands the beauty of healing at a slow, loving pace, Winter is ready to melt into your arms. This dog's adoption fee is $500 to go towards their vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm/Ehrlichia/Lyme test, fecal test, pre-op blood work, dental cleaning, and microchip as well as grooming if needed). If you are interested, please fill out the adoption application. For additional information regarding our adoption process, please check our FAQ's Page.   *All dogs in the care of Get a Life Pet Rescue live in loving foster homes while waiting for their perfect match. They don't live in cages or crates (unless there is a medical reason to do so.) They are treated as family pets while in our care. * All dogs in our care are fed premium brand holistic food as well as supplements and vitamins specific to each dog's needs. We don't buy inexpensive bulk dry kibble; our rescues are fed premium wet food diets as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program to ensure maximum health. .*All of our rescues receive complete quality vetting, including full dental cleaning with pre-op bloodwork, spay/neuter, vaccines, and grooming. Dogs in need of specialized medicine will be seen by specialists, such as full cardiac workups, and ophthalmologist visits, all suspicious lumps and bumps are biopsied, and every medical need is transparent to potential adopters. *Once you adopt from Get a Life Pet Rescue, you become part of our compassionate family, and we are here for you if a problem with your precious dog arises. ##2594001##
