If you are interested, you MUST complete the application. We will only set up meet and greets with an approved application. Pixie is one of 10 small defenseless little dogs that was dumped in the middle of many many acres of nothing but soybean and corn fields. What a horrible fate for these dear sweet babies. Animal Control was called and they called PAWS to see if we could assist with trying to catch them and take them in. We have spent over two weeks (at the time of this post) and managed to catch 7 of them. We are still working to catch the last two that we can find and have not seen the 10th one since the first day. These babies have been through quite the ordeal and are now ready to go on to homes where they will be loved and doted on. They are all shy at first and definite flight risks so they will not be adopted to homes with children and will require that the adopter have a fenced yard. This beautiful girl, Pixie, is very shy and will take someone with lots of love and patience to win her over. She came around very quickly with me but gets very scared if anything in her environment changes or if she is taken to a new environment (such as the vet). She is a very loving little girl who wants to be loved so badly but just can't forget that humans have not been kind to her. She is still very afraid of fast movements. She will do well with other other dogs as long as they are her size or smaller and allow her to be the boss. She is about 11 lbs and we guestimate that she was born around 07/01/2018. Her adoption fee is $350.

Bruno was owner surrendered to another shelter that was too full to keep him. We had a space so Bruno is spending his interim at PAWS. He is a happy, funny playful and beautiful boy. He is reported to have been born around 06/15/2023 so he is a youngster. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, HW negative and on preventative and is ready to go to is forever home. He is a Chihuahua mix and weighs about 14 lbs. He does not do well with other dogs or with cats. He does have a bit of a nervous peeing when he gets excited to see you. Jolene is a very nice little girl that came from a home where there were multiple dogs that were not getting the proper care. She has been to the vet and gotten spayed, microchipped, Heartworm tested (negative), a rabies shot and has had 2 of her 3 parvo/distemper shots. The world has not been kind to this precious baby so she is VERY shy and afraid when she meets new people. Given time to realize no one will ever hurt her again, I am confident that she will become a very loving, loyal baby who just wants to snuggle and be loved. Because she is so skittish and a huge flight risk, she will only be adopted to a home with a fenced yard and no children. She has done well with me in her run and we continue to build trust. She weighs 17 lbs at this point and is still probably a pound or two under weight. She is believed to have been born around May 26, 2023. She has done well with other dogs so far. She has not been tested with cats. Her adoption fee is $350 and she is ready to find her forever person or family. Tiana was brought to PAWS from an Animal Control Facility. She had been owner surrendered and was reported to be "biting everyone who tried to touch her". She was SO scared when she got here and the only way she could "defend" herself was to try to bite. But with some patience and kindness, she crawled into my lap on Day 3 and we have been best buddies every sense. She is a beautiful little girl with a big heart. She does need someone with lots of patience to give her the space she needs to get to know and love you. She is 8 lbs of spunk, love and curiosity!!! Because of her history, she will not be adopted to a home with any children under the age of 18. She will need a quiet home without alot of new folks coming and going. And she will require a fenced yard. She is not housetrained but has done well on pee pads since being here. Bogie was pulled from an Animal Control after he was taken due to neglect. He was covered in fleas and still has the stains on his hair and skin. He is being given medicated baths and he seems to be coming along nicely. He was born around 04/29/2020, is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and current on his rabies shot and has had one of three of his Parvo/distemper shots. His second and third ones are due 05/26/2026 and 06/15/2026 and then he will be good for a year. He was negative for heartworms and has been started on preventative. He currently weighs 11.6 lbs. He is a bit shy and will need some patience and love. But within a couple of hours here, I was getting kisses so it doesn't take him long if you just give him a chance. What a super boy he is - full of love and life. Your home will finally be complete if you make Bogie part of your family!
