Story
Gina is a 7-month-old Chihuahua weighing just under 10 pounds, and she has absolutely no idea she’s small. She’s bright, expressive, and full of personality in the best way.   She loves playing with dogs her size and has a hilarious habit of “smiling” and doing little dance moves when she’s excited. Her wiggly tail is nonstop entertainment, and when playtime winds down, she’s happiest curled up in a lap soaking up attention.   Gina is crate trained and potty trained, which already puts her ahead of the game for a young pup. She prefers being carried or handled over long leash walks and is still gaining confidence with leashes, so a patient adopter who understands small-dog quirks will be key.   She’s affectionate, social, and thrives with people who enjoy having a little shadow by their side.   Rescue story: Gina was found wandering near the woods during a freezing week in Houston. Thankfully, the person who found her was a dog rescuer, and she was brought to safety just in time. Now she’s warm, loved, and ready for a home that will never let her be cold or alone again.   Gina is small. Her presence is anything but.   This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com. Story
Meet Bruce   Bruce is the definition of a sidekick — the kind of little guy who wants to be part of everything you do. He’s small, snuggly, and happiest when he’s tucked right up next to his person.   He’s crate trained, great in the house, and gets along well with both dogs and cats. He can get a little worked up if another dog’s behind a gate (barriers aren’t his favorite), so slow, thoughtful introductions are best. Once he knows you’re a friend, he’s all in.   The vet isn’t his favorite place — it’s stressful for him — but at home, Bruce is a sweetheart through and through. He’s affectionate, loyal, and just wants a calm, steady home where he can finally relax and be someone’s constant companion.   If you’ve been looking for a devoted little buddy who’ll follow you from room to room and make you feel like the most important person in the world, Bruce is ready to fill that spot. Story
Meet Dixie   Dixie is a bubbly, curious, and affectionate young dog, around 1 year old and about 14 pounds. She came into foster care a little unsure of the world but settled in quickly. She bonds fast with her people and loves attention just as much as playtime. Once she feels safe, her personality really shines.   She is mostly house-trained and does well with a consistent routine. Dixie is comfortable in a crate and settles quietly, making her an easy transition into a new home. Inside the house, she’s curious, playful, and respectful when her needs for activity and engagement are met.   Dixie does very well with other dogs and enjoys having canine companions. She especially gravitates toward smaller dogs and has shown a strong preference for playful, confident dog friends. Her play style can be vocal and enthusiastic, so she does best with dogs who enjoy interaction and aren’t bothered by a chatty playmate. During meals, she may growl around other dogs, so separate feeding is recommended.   With people, Dixie is friendly and social. She may be a bit shy at first in new situations but warms up quickly. She enjoys affection and likes to stay close to her people. She’s playful without being overwhelming and would be fine with respectful kids who understand dog boundaries.   Dixie knows basic cues including sit, down, and come, and she is continuing to improve her leash skills. She may pull a bit at times but responds well to redirection and is getting better with practice.   She has moderate to high energy and would thrive in an active home that enjoys walks, outdoor play, and continued training. Mental stimulation and structure go a long way with her.   Dixie is sensitive to handling during grooming and does not enjoy baths, though she has shown no aggression. A patient, gentle approach will help her continue to build confidence.   Overall, Dixie is a loving, social little dog who will do best with adopters looking for a fun, engaged companion and who are committed to consistency and follow-through. In return, she offers loyalty, affection, and a whole lot of personality in a small package. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered.
