Story
We are searching for a loving, patient forever family for our chocolate Chihuahua, Gizmo. This tiny, gentle boy is a true lap dog who lives for cuddles, companionship, and being close to his person. Gizmo can be a little shy when meeting someone new, but once he feels safe, he is completely devoted. He happily curls up in your lap for hours, enthusiastically plays with his favorite squeaky toys, and proudly reminds you when it is treat time (he is very food motivated)! He is a quiet little guy who rarely ever barks, though he may softly whine when he misses you. Gizmo walks nicely on a leash and is comfortable pottying outside or using pee pads/grass pads indoors. This has been a very difficult decision for us, and our priority is finding him a safe, stable, and loving home where he can truly thrive. If you feel you can offer Gizmo the warmth, patience, and lifelong commitment he deserves, please reach out and share a bit about yourself and the home you can provide.

Story
OTHER PETS: Toby has been comfortable with other dogs, and seems to read body language well too. He would likely be a good match for another relaxed, social dog in the home, but as always will need to meet any dogs he will be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Toby is an easy-going dog, but he is older and may need more intensive vet care than a young dog. He would do best with someone that has an established relationship with a vet to ensure that he continues to age gracefully, and remains comfortable throughout his years. [Some Experience]KIDS: Toby has been tolerant of handling and hasn't shown any signs of resource guarding while at TJO. He could be a good match for a family with kids, but he is still an older dog and may not like to play as much as a higher-energy dog. Interactions between children and dogs should always be actively monitored to ensure that both parties remain comfortable and safe. [Likely (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Toby doesn't have as much interest in toys or running around as he probably used to. He's more interested in spending time with his favorite people, and is just as happy to laze around as he is to take a leisurely walk around the block. Interests may change in a new home, a combination of regular exercise and plenty of mental enrichment will help meet his needs. [Couch Potato]VETERINARY CARE: Toby is currently in need of a dental that TJO will provide. He may also have some renal issues that we are currently waiting on the blood test results for. [Above Average / Intensive]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Toby not only learn his basic cues & skills, but also help him to bond with his new owner as well. [Minimal]GROOMING: Because of his fur texture, Toby will require routine brushing to ensure that he does not become matted. [Routine Brushing]February 18, 2026, 6:04 pm

Story
This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.   ##2660890##

Story
Drake and Maye are a deeply bonded pair who came to the shelter after the heartbreaking loss of their owner. After so much change, these boys are simply looking for a soft, steady place to land and a family to call their own again.Drake is the shyer of the two at first and may need a little time to feel comfortable. Once he knows you, he melts into a happy puddle of snuggles, happily flinging himself into laps and soaking up attention. He also enjoys long walks and time spent close to his people. Maye is the steady, confident presence in their partnership. He helps Drake feel brave and is often the first to greet new friends, offering quiet reassurance along the way.Drake is currently on a weight-loss journey and will need to be fed separately from Maye to help him stay on track. Their adopters should be prepared to continue supporting healthy routines for both boys.If there are children in the home, teens and older would be the best fit. Drake and Maye are ready to bring comfort, companionship, and quiet loyalty to a home that will cherish them together. If you are interested in adopting these wonderful senior boys, please visit the shelter on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between 12–4pm. Their combined adoption fee is $200 for both. If you are unable to visit during those hours, please email dogs@worcesterarl.org to inquire about scheduling an appointment.
