Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Biscuit! Biscuit is 7 mo old, 9 lb and likely is a chihuahua. She was surrendered after her owner could no longer care for her. In her foster home, she is working hard on her house training, crate-training, and leash walking. She could join households with dog-savvy kids 5+ and other dogs. She has not been exposed to cats. Her foster says, `Meet Biscuit! This petite 7lb girl might be a bit shy at first, but once she warms up, you are in for a lifetime of tail wags and love! She is a pint sized bundle of cozy snuggles who is taking the world by storm one kiss at a time..she’s has this “stealth mode” where she’ll sneak up at the most unexpected moments to give you the sweetest kisses and she never misses her target Lol. And if that isn’t adorable enough..she has the cutest underbite that will melt your heart! She has also cornered the market on being the ultimate welcome committee..she has one mission when you walk through the door..to greet you like a she’s a tiny kangaroo leaping with excitement..she literally has springs for back legs and is a blur of excitement that makes you feel like you’re the most important person in the world! And when she’s not being the ultimate lap dog you will find her playing detective and keeping a watch on the neighbors while perched in front of a window. She is alert, curious and she’s always in the know. This girl will want to be a part of whatever you are doing whether it is making your cup of coffee in the morning..folding your laundry in the afternoon or watching your favorite tv show at night..she will make sure she is in the loop on what you are doing..she will be your shadow and your new favorite sidekick. She might not be the biggest dog on theblock but she will definitely make up for it with her big heart and endless supply of love!`She is available for adoption in N Dartmouth in April. Story
Meet Chico, 6 month old, pint-sized, adorable pup is a Jack Russell Terrier–Chihuahua mix with a huge personality packed into a little body. Chico starts off a bit shy, but give him a few minutes (and maybe a treat or two), and he’ll be bouncing into your heart in no time! Chico loves to zoom around with other animals—he’d thrive in a home with a young, playful dog buddy to match his energy. He’s wonderful with kids, cats, and dogs alike—basically, anyone willing to join in the fun! Chico was surrendered to Broken Tail Rescue with a cherry eye that has since been fixed and he does well with his daily temporary eye drops. He’s working hard on his house-training and making great progress—treats are definitely the way to this boy’s heart. If you’re looking for a sweet, cheerful companion who’ll keep you smiling and your days full of play, Chico’s ready to wag his way into your life! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet Penny! A charming fifteen-year-old Chihuahua currently in Holland, MI. Her tiny five-pound frame holds a grand spirit and is covered in a soft, mostly black velvety coat. Penny is now ready to find a new loving home after her pet parent passed away. She is a devoted little companion who adores being held, tucked close, and carried like the royalty she believes she is. At home, she happily alternates between cozy naps on her beloved heating pad and gentle strolls where her curious nose leads the way. Despite her senior status, she brings a playful spark, hopping like a tiny bunny and even popping over small obstacles with surprising confidence. She walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys exploring a fenced yard, even when snow dusts the ground. Penny thrives as the only pet in a caring environment and needs a calm home without other dogs or cats, where she can soak up undivided attention. She may be briefly vocal when left alone, then settles as she relaxes, showing she simply loves staying close to her people. House-trained and able to hold it overnight, she is also a wonderful bedtime snuggle partner. She has age-related hearing loss and mild arthritis, both manageable and part of her normal aging process. She has had full bloodwork completed and is scheduled for a dental to help keep her feeling her very best. She remains bright, affectionate, and eager for daily routines. She enjoys relaxed walks and spends much of her time lounging beside her favorite humans. One of her sweetest quirks is lifting a tiny paw to politely request to be picked up, a gesture that melts hearts instantly. Penny is compatible with a retired or work-from-home pet parent who can offer steady companionship and plenty of affection throughout the day. In return, she brings loyalty, warmth, and a delightful mix of sass and sweetness that makes every moment feel special. Will you be the one to share cozy evenings with her and discover just how much love can fit into five tiny pounds? If you’re interested in providing Penny with a loving home, please email meetme@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting her! Please note that Penny is currently in foster care through one of our trusted rescue partners and will remain with her foster family until the right match is found. Because rescue-partner pets are managed directly by their respective organizations, their adoption process, requirements, and fees may differ from Joyful Pets’ direct rehoming program. Our team will be happy to connect you with the rescue and help guide you through their process to ensure everything goes smoothly. Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Meet Dillon — aka “Silly Dilly” 🐾 If you’re looking for a dog with big personality packed into a fun little package, look no further. Dillon — lovingly dubbed “Silly Dilly” by his foster mom — is a five-year-old Chihuahua mix who is equal parts chaos gremlin and couch potato, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Dillon is the life of the party. He’s spunky, funny, and genuinely happy-go-lucky — the kind of dog who makes you laugh just by existing. He loves to play with stuffed toys, probably because he relates to them on a spiritual level. He’s great with other dogs, cats, and respectful kids. He’s mostly potty trained, sleeps beautifully in his crate at night, and during his downtime? He is deeply committed to napping. Olympic-level sleeping. Do not disturb. Dillon is a lover, and once he picks his person, he picks them hard. Like, “that’s MY human and I will be making an announcement” hard. He guards the people and things he loves — food, toys, you, your spot on the couch — so he’ll do best in a home that understands this and can work with him consistently. He also gets a little dramatic when you first leave the house or put him in his crate (cue the tiny, betrayed sighs), but he does settle in. He just needs a moment to process the audacity. Dillon isn’t looking for just anyone. He’s looking for his person — someone who wants a funny, devoted, slightly opinionated little sidekick who will make them laugh every single day. If that sounds like you, Silly Dilly has been waiting his whole life to find you. Come meet him. He’ll probably judge you for thirty seconds and then decide you’re worthy. If you are interested in finding out more about Dillon, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Dillon is being fostered in West Brookfield, MA. Story
Hopper is a sweet but sensitive little guy who takes a bit of time to warm up—but once he trusts you, he absolutely loves attention and being close to his people. He has a playful side and enjoys running around and having fun, especially when he feels comfortable in his environment. Hopper has previously lived with another dog and did very well, so he may enjoy having a canine companion again in his new home. Like many Chihuahuas, Hopper has a big personality for a small body—he can be vocal and expressive, and he definitely knows what he likes (and doesn’t like!). Cold weather is not his favorite, and he may refuse to go outside when temperatures drop.Hopper isn’t a fan of vet visits and will need some extra support, including pre-medication and a muzzle, to help keep him calm and safe during appointments. With a little patience at the start, Hopper will reward you with affection, companionship, and plenty of personality. No apartment buildings for Hopper.
