Story
Meet Mighty Mouse!Mighty Mouse is another pup that's going to need a very special someone that understands how particular, bossy, and sassy chihuahuas can be. Mighty Mouse is about two years old, absolutely gorgeous (as you can see) and also very, very deaf. VERY deaf. This means he can't really hear himself bark so he tends to bark loudly and incessantly when he gets riled up so shared walls/apartment complexes may not be the best environment for this shouty little man. He's a little under 14lbs but what he lacks in size he makes up for with an attitude the size of Texas. He takes a bit to warm up to people but once he does, he definitely plays favorites. He does well with other dogs but not with cats. He's sweet with people (once he likes you) and loves going for walks. He also loves his treats/snacks and likes to bury them and then forget they exist. With the right amount of sweet talking, Mighty Mouse will be your best friend...but you need to be willing to GO SLOW with him. He isn't the kind of dog that you can just swoop down and scoop up right away because he can and will throw hands while screaming vulgarities (probably). If you've had a difficult dog in the past and are used to the attitude and the judgmental side eye, Mighty Mouse might be the guy for you. We're looking for an adult only home (older teenagers should be fine as well) that has the patience and the drive to put in the effort with him...because he is incredible once you melt that icy Fight Club exterior.

HEATHER 🦊❤️Looking for a fun, smart, and active sidekick? Meet Heather — a beautiful Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her energy!Heather is an athletic, intelligent young pup who’s as playful as she is striking. She’ll have your neighbors wondering if you brought home a little fox — but don’t be fooled by her looks, she’s all dog and all personality.Heather absolutely loves to play fetch, go for walks, and ride in the car to watch the world go by. Once she trusts you, she’s affectionate and loyal — always happy to soak up attention from her favorite people. She can be wary of strangers and needs time to warm up, especially with new people or dogs. With patience and structure, she quickly forms strong bonds. Heather’s a smart cookie who thrives with consistent training and clear boundaries. She already knows basic cues like “sit,” “paw,” and even goes potty on command! She’s currently working on leash manners and can be reactive when she sees dogs or people up close, so a confident, experienced adopter committed to continued training will help her succeed.Heather would do best in an adult home or one with kids 12+ and no cats. A fenced yard and plenty of playtime would be a big bonus for this energetic girl. She’s not a fit for a first-time dog owner, but for someone experienced and active, she’ll be an incredible companion — full of love, fun, and adventure. She needs a home with another dog with her energy level, she loves to play and she longs for companionship. If you live in an apartment setting or in a busy area she is not the right fit, she will bark at noises or things she see's going by a window. This is not a negative about her its just who she is and the barking does stop with correction. If you’re ready to invest time, patience, and training into a sweet, smart, and spirited pup, Heather will reward you with loyalty, laughter, and a lifetime of love! Story
Meet Bruce   Bruce is the definition of a sidekick — the kind of little guy who wants to be part of everything you do. He’s small, snuggly, and happiest when he’s tucked right up next to his person.   He’s crate trained, great in the house, and gets along well with both dogs and cats. He can get a little worked up if another dog’s behind a gate (barriers aren’t his favorite), so slow, thoughtful introductions are best. Once he knows you’re a friend, he’s all in.   The vet isn’t his favorite place — it’s stressful for him — but at home, Bruce is a sweetheart through and through. He’s affectionate, loyal, and just wants a calm, steady home where he can finally relax and be someone’s constant companion.   If you’ve been looking for a devoted little buddy who’ll follow you from room to room and make you feel like the most important person in the world, Bruce is ready to fill that spot. Apply to adopt. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.   ##2542787##

Story
Meet Georgie   Ten pounds of sweetness. Big personality. Zero drama.   Georgie is an eight-year-old chi mix who just wants to be where his people are. He’s the kind of dog who follows you from room to room, settles near you while you work or watch TV, and is happiest when life is simple and you’re close by.   He’s friendly with everyone he meets and does great with other dogs. He’s not a fan of crates or being shut away, but he’s so well behaved in a home that he doesn’t need any of that anyway. Once he settles into a new routine, he appears to be reliably potty trained and easy to live with.   Georgie loves treats, eats well, and has that perfect companion-dog energy — affectionate, gentle, and grateful for any kindness shown his way.   If you’re looking for a soft little shadow who will adore you with his whole heart, Georgie’s your guy. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. Story
Poncho Local is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Poncho is a sweet and easygoing little guy who is nothing like the typical chihuahua. He is super chill, doesn't bark alot, and is wonderfully tolerant with respectful kids and FEMALE dogs his size. Poncho enjoys cuddling, likes to be held, and would love a home with a warm lap waiting for him. He does mark since he is still intact, but that should improve once he is neutered. **Due to clinic delays: this puppy will be available for adoption with the collection of an additional $100 spay/neuter voucher deposit, which will be refunded upon receipt of successful procedure at our partnering clinic. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Be sure to check our Facebook page "Rhode Home Rescue" for details on upcoming events and other announcements.
