Story
Meet Odie and Bama! They are a bonded pair of what appear to be Papillon mixes. We estimate Odie to be around 8 years old and 9 pounds and Bama could be closer to 11+ years old and 6 pounds.Bama and Odie are currently in a foster home in Boston where they are enjoying quiet apartment life. They are not barky, are fine with other dogs, and friendly with people. They were out with the fosters family for Thanksgiving and did great with new people and ignored the other dogs. In their foster home they are working on house-training. Their foster takes them out every 2-3 hours and whenever they wake up from a nap to help with house-training. Odie walks on leash, but does not like to be pulled around. Bama does not walk on leash and would like time in a fenced in area each day (empty dog park or fenced-in yard). Bama and Odie spend their days cuddling up together in sunny spots, on the couch, or in your lap. They share attention fine and don't fight with each other. At night, they sleep in a crate together. Bama likes to putter around the house like the old man he is, and Odie enjoys soliciting pets and attention from his person. When Bama wants attention, he looks at you longingly until you pick him up because he cannot jump up. These precious boys are looking for a forever home or apartment together with a quiet person or couple. As senior dogs, they will need someone who understands that they are in their golden years, particularly Bama, and require a little extra TLC (sweaters when it's cold, help up into your lap, special wet food, calm and loving energy). They should not go to a home with small children or anyone who is a fall risk given they need a gentle touch and can be tripped over. Medical: Odie and Bama have both received dentals and had multiple teeth pulled. Bama is getting additional surgery for a nasal fistula. Bama has a heart murmur but X-rays show his heart is within normal size margins and is not uncommon for a dog of his assumed age. Bama needs to gain weight and is fed 3-4 times daily. Bama is on the frail side, but still has a good quality of life. Odie is in good shape. They are available for adoption with an approved adopter in Boston or Hopkinton by appointment. Story
Meet Weezle! She is about 3 years old, 9 lbs and likely has some Chihuahua in her mix. In her foster home, she is working on house training, has not been crate trained, and has not been walked on leash. She could go to a home with other dogs, cats and kids 5+. She has been treated for Heartworm and is ready now for adoption! Her foster say, "Weezle is the definition of the perfect little companion that would love to be in your cozy home cuddling next to you. That's all she wants. If you ever get cold, she will use her chihuahua powers to keep you warm. You ever need a little companion to listen to you? She's all ears and stares at you like she understand everything you're saying. All she wants to do inside your home is be a couch potato and watch tv with you. If you have other dogs - whatever the size - she will love them and fit right in with the pack. She has so much energy and wiggles around like a little weezle when you're home but settles downright after! Weezie would love a chance to show you how much she loves."She is available for adoption with an approved adopter in N Dartmouth on December 1st. Story
So, you think you want a Chihuahua? Let’s start my bio by saying this, we love who we like but if we don’t like you… Sorry. My Auntie, I love. She is the alpha of this home I live in, and I know it so I toe the line. Little does she know that I have her wrapped around my little finger. Example, she gives us all treats, (I now live with 3 other dogs). They are not too big for me, but I look at her like I can’t eat it and she breaks it up for me. I am housebroken but you need to pay attention to me and get me out on schedule. It’s a small dog thing. There is a dog door at my temporary home, and it only took me a week to learn how and why to use it. Auntie says I am a smarty pants. I think that is a good thing. I have a great appetite, sit in my spot, and wait for breakfast and dinner before everyone else and I take my time eating so I enjoy every bite. I then love to go for a nice walk. Heads up when I see other dogs on a leash I turn into a little monster. I can meet dogs off leash with control. I have met several while I have been here. I sleep by myself maybe because the big bed is overcrowded but, in the morning, I’m right up on the big bed snuggling with Auntie, getting belly rubs, and loving life. As for my name change, Auntie didn’t think Taco was politically correct for my breed. Do you think you can be my alpha 😉? Let’s meet and find out.
