EXPERIENCED AND PATIENT ADOPTER ONLY Ozzie and his brother Archie were from a chihuahua neglect and hoarding situation and were surrendered to a shelter where they made no progress in a year and were close to euthanasia. I worked very hard with them and they're ready for a home of their own but they need a SPECIAL person who can take on their issues. Ozzie was by far the worse of the two but has come the farthest. He LOVES his person and he's opening up to new people but will probably still connect best to one person. Ozzie loves to be held like a baby. He's quite active and loves to hike and go for walks/runs. He is learning to play and enjoys some gentle wrestling. He has learned to give kisses. He would make a great companion for a young person or maybe couple who can be patient in earning his trust. He has been mostly potty trained but still will mark and he will poop on the floor when mad. He kennels well. He is a great dog but needs someone who appreciates that small dog life

Meet Dewey! He came in with Gizmo when their family was moving and they couldn't take Gizmo and Dewey with them. Dewey is 7-8 years old and weighs around 13lbs. He appears to be a chihuahua mix. He was very nervous when he first arrived, but has relaxed more after spending some time with us. He is looking for someone who understands chihuahuas and that will give him time to open up. We believe he would do best in a home free from small children that might not respect his space. Dewey did test positive for heartworm. He has started treatment. However, we'd love for him to relax in a home until he finishes his treatment. He is currently only available for foster or foster to adopt. He will likely be cleared for adoption in August. Al-Van completely covers the cost of treating heartworm, his foster would be responsible for brining Dewey to his vet appointments. His foster has to live within a reasonable drive to South Haven, MI. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Harkin Banks came to us from a kill shelter in Arkansas where he ended up by no fault of his own. This is a nice, friendly boy who is good with people & other dogs. He is very sweet, happy but would benefit from some basic obedience and confidence building. His approx. birth date is 04/04/20 and he currently weighs approx. 15#. We are guessing at his breed make up.He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. He is heart worm negative. His adoption donation is $250 and needs to be cash, cashier's check or money order. We can tell from the way he bobs his head when stressed and circles and spins when he is excited that he has something unique going on in his little head. If we had to guess his breed, we think a terrier mix with maybe some Boston terrier, chihuahua or French bulldog in there. Leonard loves the company of other dogs and would make a great playmate for a dog who enjoys a good game of chase or wrestling. He really needs another dog around in order to be happy. Leonard has come a long way toward being potty trained, given ample opportunities to go outdoors. He also is using potty pads indoors. He has a beautiful shiny blue coat which makes him stand out from the pack. He likes to hang out with the people without having to sit on a lap or be cuddled too much. He seems to be mesmerized by things daily and is always cocking his head in the cutest way. His foster mom works from home and he LOVES that. If you have dreams of him being an obedience champion, you’ll have to let those go. He really is a very simple fella who just wants a good home with a playful dog or two and some people who will be around a lot and let him be who he is.
