I recently adopted Brutus from a rescue with the understanding that he was potty and crate trained, and good with cats. None of those things have proven to be true. Brutus comes from a hoarding situation in Texas, and he is not a fan of the winter, leading to some potty incidents in the house. He has had several run-ins with my cats, even though he lived peacefully with cats before me. He is a sweet, loving boy who truly needs to be in a home without other pets, in my opinion. He is pretty possessive of me leading to the issues with the cats, I think. My plan was to take him to work with me, but he has barked and growled at patients coming into the office, so that is not working out, and I refuse to leave him crated all day at home. He deserves a good home, and more time than I can give him. I would return him to the rescue, but they won't get back to me.
