Foster Home Feedback ** Older, considerate children only 2/5/2026 Foster Feedback: Mick is a 10-year-old male Chihuahua with a gentle soul and a big heart for the right person. Once Mick decides you are his person, he is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and a top-tier snuggle buddy. He forms deep bonds and truly thrives on close companionship. Mick does best in a calm, quiet home and has shown a clear preference for the company of adult female humans. For this reason, he is looking for an home with older considerate children only where his boundaries will be respected and he can feel safe and secure. He is dog- and cat-friendly for the most part and coexists well with other animals. While Mick is not fully potty trained, he does very well wearing belly bands, which make this easy to manage with a consistent routine. Mick would be happiest with a patient, understanding adopter who values cuddles, routine, and giving a senior dog the peaceful home he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who will reward your love with endless affection once trust is built, Mick could be your perfect match. 2/21/17: Little Mickie is still waiting to find his forever home. He's really made some nice progress the last month in my home. The potty training continues to improve and he runs right outside with the other dogs when it's time to go. The marking in the house is decreasing, too! He is an absolutely love bug with people that he knows. All Mickie wants to do is be with his people and give constant kisses! He needs a loving family who will give him the time and space he needs to warm up and feel comfortable. This typically takes him 2-3 days. This poor guy is TERRIFIED when meeting new people and doesn't give the best first impression. He will shake, try to hide, and bark. But, after a few days, Mickie really settles down and can be a big time lover! I have been trying to socialize little Mickie. I took him to my book club and after a little while, he settled down. He let a few people hold him and he was able to calm himself down. I was so happy that he was able to be in a group of 8 strangers without barking! He will also be attending a foster class to work on socializing him to new people. He continued to do great meeting new dogs. Please don't overlook this little peanut, if Chihuahuas are your thing! Mickie is adorable and will be a loyal companion to anyone that takes the time to help him adjust and feel comfortable. 1/30/17: Mick (I call him Mickie) is a pint-sized peanut that I have grown to absolutely love! He gets along great with other dogs and his favorite thing to do is snuggle on the couch. Mickie is a little shy when he first meets new people but doesn't take long to relax. It only took a few days for him to become my little shadow! Because of his size and nervousness when meeting new people, he would do best in a home without small children. Mickie doesn't like being grabbed or picked up suddenly. He would do fine with older considerate children who understood his need for people to go slow when meeting him. Mickie is kenneled when I am at work and at night. He keeps his kennel clean and is doing great with potty training. Mickie was recently neutered and we are working hard on only going potty outside. He is down to only a few accidents a week. If you are looking for a pint-sized addition to your family, Mickie is a great little dog who would love a warm lap to call his own!
