Story
Rescued: 3/22/2025 Age at the time of rescue: 6 weeks Current weight: 20 pounds Coquito is settling in wonderfully! He does great in his crate as long as he can’t see people nearby, and he’s learning the routine of going outside—even braving the snow like a champ. He has marked in the house a couple of times, but he’s just a baby still figuring out what indoor life is all about. This little guy is no couch potato! Coquito loves to play, zoom around, and soak up all the pets and cuddles right on the floor. He takes treats with the sweetest, softest manners, and would do well in a family with kids who understand that puppies sometimes bounce with excitement. Coquito is a hilarious, charming pup—he even looks like a tiny low-rider lab. He’s ready to make someone smile every single day! Thank you for considering a dog in need! Story
All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step. Hi, I’m Dove — a 2-year-old chihuahua mix, professional cuddler, part-time diva, and full-time velcro dog. &#226&#156&#168 Let’s get this out of the way: I love my people and form strong bonds. Once I decide you’re my person, I’ll happily follow you everywhere, curl up in your lap, and stare lovingly into your soul. That’s just who I am. When I first arrived at my foster home, I was a little unsure of my foster dad and needed some time to feel comfortable. But slow and steady wins the race — after about a week, I started warming up, and now I’m learning that new people (men included!) can be pretty great once I get to know them. I do best with gentle introductions and a little patience while I build trust.  I’m a social butterfly with humans (especially kids), but when it comes to dogs… um… let’s just say I have opinions. I currently live with three dogs of all shapes and sizes, and I make sure every new dog knows I’m the boss. Yes, I show my teeth. Yes, I growl. Yes, there may be a tiny snap. But don’t worry — I’m all bark at the beginning. Because guess what? After a few days, I start to soften. And after a week? I’m actually playing with them! I guess you could say I play hard to get and make other dogs work for my affection. A lady has standards, okay?  I’d absolutely thrive as an only dog since humans are my true love, but sharing a home with other dogs isn’t a dealbreaker — I just need a little time to remind them who runs the show. I am housebroken, but I have a confession… I do not appreciate the cold, snowy New Hampshire weather. I’m a little girl with little legs, and I don’t do blizzards. So sometimes, to avoid going outside, I… may do my business indoors. Look, I’m delicate!  If you’re looking for a loyal, snuggly, dramatic, tiny queen who will adore you, then I’m your girl. I’ve got a big personality in a tiny package, and my heart is just waiting for my forever home.    All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped. The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only. December 21, 2025, 10:01 am

Story
IDGSR Welcomes KEVIN into the safety of the rescue!! THIS DOG IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE & AVAILABLE FOR TRANSPORT ************** Well howdy, folks! Name’s Kevin, and I reckon I might just be the smallest German Shepherd this side of Nashville, Tennessee… trapped in a Chihuahua/Terrier body. Don’t let my size fool ya—what I lack in height, I make up for in heart, grit, and a whole lotta personality. Quick Facts: Age - 7-months old Kids - will do fine with kids Dogs - great with other dogs Cats - probably no cats 1. At 7 months old, I’m still a young buck, full of curiosity and charm. 2. I’ve got a funny little bob-tail that wiggles faster than a tumbleweed in a windstorm, and a coat that looks straight outta the German Shepherd handbook. I’m startin’ to think I might be an undercover deputy from the Shepherd ranks—just disguised in a compact package! 3. I get along mighty fine with other dogs, and I’d fit right in whether you’re livin’ in a ranch, apartment, condo, or townhome—I’m not picky about my corral. 4. I’m still workin’ on house and crate trainin’, but I’m a quick learner if you’ve got some patience and a few treats up your sleeve. 5. I’ll need a good ol’ dose of obedience trainin’, but partner, once I learn the ropes, I’ll be your most loyal sidekick on every adventure. 6. So what do you say, cowboy (or cowgirl)? Saddle up and adopt me —the tiny sheriff with the Shepherd soul! **SERIOUS APPLICANTS ONLY!
