Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** UPDATE *** 19 June 2023 CHIP was adopted on 30 November 2020 to a family who knew he was going to be a work in progress and committed to give him the life he deserves. Sadly this has not worked out, CHIP apparently marks in the house, isn't leash trained and is still wary of strange people. A trainer was never sought out so there was not able to learn. Due to the owner having health issues and not being able to deal with him he is being returned to the rescue by the end of this month. Updated pictures and information will be provided when he has been returned, but he does need a loving, patient family, a fenced in yard and safe environment - he was so much fun when he was here, really learning to trust and have fun. Please be sure to watch the video's from back in 2020 on the rescue website. *************************************************************************** READ ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED CHIP-L was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas with his 3 buddies, all feral and had been scheduled to be killed the day we saved them. CHIP-L is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, monthly preventatives and microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 20 April 2016 and at the time of rescue in May 2018 weighed around 11 pounds.   CHIP, PRINCE, MILO & PIXIE were all saved together. When I had informed the shelter I would take them into rescue, they informed me they were scheduled to be killed that day because they were feral. I had committed to them and so I couldn't back out.   When they got here I let them with the other dogs and just left them to it as I think it is important for dogs to decompress and figure out what has happened to them the last week, being picked up by animal control, taken to a large city kill shelter, having surgery and all the vetting then on a transport up to the rescue for 3 days, then getting here - it is so much for them all in such a short time.   CHIP has come a very long way and will come and sit next to me, he will let me scratch his head, belly, he will play although he does "mouth" when playing. He gets very excited when playing and is a very sweet boy. I let him build his confidence on his own and come up to me when he felt ready. At first it was taking treats and then this slowly progressed to me scratching his chest and ears, then eventually his belly. He is truly desperate for affection and he wants nothing more than to cuddle up on my lap. At times he has sneaked on the chair next to me and gone to sleep, however, he will not let me pick up he will run off, but then immediately come back. &#226&#128&#139As you can see in the video he does want to play, but he does "mouth" when playing and at times can put a bit too much pressure, he is not biting he just doesn't know he is playing too hard, but I gently correct him, telling him no and he does stop. This will take time, but the fact he has come so far on his own, in his own time, I believe with the right family he has huge potential. CHIP needs a family that understands he is going to need time to figure things out again and do things at his own pace. He isn't going to be jumping on your lap snuggling up straight away, he isn't going to let you pick him up or take him for walks for a considerable time so a fenced in yard is an absolute must. With time, love and patience everything can come, being with a family that has time to spend with him, teaching him things and helping him gain trust will enable him to develop the confidence and trust he needs.   We do not recommend children more because of his mouthing  little hard and also children are not as patient in allowing him to progress at his own pace.   CHIP truly is a very sweet boy, he enjoys the other dogs, he enjoys sitting on the back of the sofa watching the squirrels and birds at the feeding stations. He loves to get attention and deserves the best family and forever home. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how he would be around or with them.   &#226&#128&#139 Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.   If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.   Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.   https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.   We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.Click here to watch a video of CHIP-L - EXPERIENCED FAMILY.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 30, 2023, 2:42 pm

Story
I’m Tamale! I’m about two years old. My rescue thinks I’m a chihuahua mix. Since I’ve arrived at foster care in May 2022, I’ve learned so much! I know how to sit, “touch,” lie down, and come when called. I’m very curious and loving. I love to play fetch and tug. My favorite thing to do is chew on a toy until I fall asleep on my foster’s lap. I love cuddling! I'm living and thriving in my foster home with another female dog! We play and even cuddle on the couch. In my previous foster home, I was pretty stressed by the resident cats. I would do best in a home with no cats and no children. I’d love a home where I can go on long walks in the woods and play ball. I also enjoy car rides. I love hiking with all my dog friends in a big group! I have a ton of love to give, I just need a family of my own. Please apply if you want to be my family. Neutered, up to date on vaccines, house trained, crate trained, and healthy! Currently being fostered in Trumbull, CT.

Story
My name is Handsome. I am two and a half years old and I weigh 25 lbs. I am very smart and a quick learner. I love being with people and getting lots of petting and snuggle time. I have lots of love and loyalty to give in return. I'm just a little bit shy when meeting someone new, but I warm up quickly. I am well behaved in the house. I stay off of the furniture and out of the trash. I have a medium energy level and I ride well in the car. I only bark when the other dogs bark. I get along well with all of the other dogs in my foster home and really like playing with them. They range in age from 4 mos.- seniors and in size from 5 lbs to 120 lbs. One of my favorite games to play with my dog buddies is chase. I'm also good with children but I don't know about cats - the rescue doesn't have any. I am eager to find a family that I can call my own. Belly rubs are a must! My previous owner kept me crated on the porch a lot. He ended up going to prison and someone saw me on the porch and called animal control. When my time was almost up with animal control, I was taken into the rescue. I am now fostered in Danbury, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. My foster can tell how grateful I am now that I am in a foster home with a fenced-in backyard and freedom in the house! I am now fostered in Danbury, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. I have a second video of when I first came into the rescue on the rescue website. I am neutered, up-to-date on my rabies and dhpp vaccines, and I am heartworm negative. Copies of my vet records will accompany me. Email is the best method of contact. Applications can be found on the rescue website carolinacaninerescuenc.com Once an application is approved, the foster phone number is provided.

Story
I am Sadie, a five month old Chihuahua/terrier mix little girl who is a sweetheart and has the most expressive eyes you can get lost in......... My adult size and weight will be about a small dog with a weight of 12 pounds. My (Chihuahua) mom had us (a litter of three) after our family moved away and abandoned us. A wonderful superhero neighbor stepped up to help my brother and sister. All of us have only known a loving and caring environment with a foster family who are true dog lovers. I enjoy playing with children, dogs of all sizes, and having a fun time all the time. My foster family has us on a schedule of eat, play, and sleep. This will transition beautifully to our new family. I have attended doggy day care and had a BLAST!! (Please check out my video when I am playing tug-o-war with a new friend.) I LOVE to meet friends and play, especially with toys. I love to be your companion while you garden, I love smelling flowers. I look forward to my new life and happy ever after SOON-----I am able to transport NOW. Sadie has been examined by our vet, received a series of dhpp, bordetella, canine influenza bivalent, rabies vaccine, and leptospirosis vaccines. She is spayed and microchipped. We give oral heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention as our rescues are bathed frequently. We provide our rescued puppies and dogs the highest quality veterinary care as our own pets. Proper veterinary care is our number one PRIORITY and it shows in the health of our rescued puppies and dogs. My adoption fee is $500 and transportation fee is $350 from Houston, Texas to the East Coast. We use the highest standard transporter in the industry. We have many happy adopters on both West Coast, East Coast, and Canada. We are pleased to provide referrals upon request. Our greatest goal is to properly match a rescued pup with the perfect adopter. We have over twenty plus years experience in rescuing pets. It is truly our greatest joy.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing our Spanish-named 3 little chi-chi sisters Mija, Hijita and Bonita.  They are tiny little bundles of energy and are usually up to any type of challenge. They play hard, love hard and sleep hard.  They are active, happy puppies who will provide a lifetime of love!! Mija (pronounced me-ha) means my daughter.  She has the thin brown stripe. Hijita (pronounced he-ta) means young lady.  She has the thicker brown ear Bonita means pretty or adorable.  She has the black ear. These pups are about 7-8 weeks old currently (9/24/2023).  Due to their diminutive size (only about 2 lbs each right now – and they will surely be small when full grown), we are seeking adult only homes (no small children).  Right now, these babies are in foster care in North Carolina.  We will be arranging transport from NC to NY in the near future.  *If you are seriously interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY (please see instructions below).  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. To fill out an application, first, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  When you receive your password (on your email account), log back on to complete the Safe at Last online adoption application.  IF WE FEEL YOU ARE A POTENTIALLY GOOD MATCH, WE WILL CONTACT YOU BY EMAIL - SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM.  All our rescues are fostered in private homes - WITHOUT YOUR APPLICATION, WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU, and you cannot meet our rescue animals until you have applied and been approved.  Adopters are required to visit the foster home to complete the adoption (in the Schoharie County/Albany County area). Our review process is very straightforward - it involves an interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $450 and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law) also apply. (We will not respond to generic 'check the box' petfinder inquiries.)   Thank you for choosing to rescue and for your interest in Nod.
