Story
Accord (aka "Lexie"): chihuahua mix, spayed female, approx. 5 months old.and weighing 5 lbs. notes: What a tiny doll. If you are looking for a furbaby you'll need to meet his little girl. She's so small that she would not be appropriate in a home with young children who might be too rough with her or in a home with a much larger dog who could harm her. For more information, please Call Jennifer: 518-664-3450 CDHA does not adopt to families with children under 5 years of age, people under the age of 21 nor people in transition, e.g., college students. Story
Meet Lexi! She is a 5.5 month old, 5lb, chihuahua puppy born on the streets. She is THE loviest girl. She absolutely loves all people & kids! She likes dogs and doesn't mind the cats. She is fully potty trained on pee pads, but, will also potty if you take her out. She is 100% a velcro, lap dog! She is so, so incredibly sweet! Lexi is looking for a warm, patient, safe, loving lap to lay her head forever. She is a typical puppy who wants to be by your side at all times. Loud noises, reaching above her, and swift movements can scare her a bit after a life on the streets. Story
I have a second video on the rescue website. My name is Chichi! I was born 11/1. I currently weigh 6 pounds.(2/16). I am fostered in Mount Airy, North Carolina, but easy, affordable transportation is available. I am a fun loving, happy little girl! I love to play with toys, other dogs, or anything that I can find on the floor or ground. The rescue is not sure how I am with cats because they don’t have any. I may bark at one, but I’m certainly not big enough to hurt one though. I love to be with people and will follow my foster all over the house. One of my favorite things to do is take long naps snuggled up in her lap. My foster is in a wheelchair and I have learned to stay clear of it. My ears are just starting to stand up. They were not standing up in my pictures/videos yet. Those were taken mid February. I am a pretty energetic little girl, so I will need lots of toys to keep me busy. I would love to have a little playmate even more! I will bring lots of entertainment. and lots of love to my new family. I am ready and waiting to go to my new forever home! I have been to the veterinarian, been dewormed, and have had two puppy shots. My records will accompany me. Email is the best method of contact. Applications can be found on the rescue website. Carolinacaninerescuenc.com Once an application is approved, the foster ‘s phone number will be provided so you can learn more about me before making an adoption decision.

Story
Scotty is such a special little man, a real gentleman. Easygoing, adorable, charming, fun, playful, affectionate, walks well on leash, does great with other dogs and was very respectful towards the cat we introduced him to. He is a little gem who will make a lucky someone very happy. His journey into rescue started when we received an urgent phone call from a local veterinarian's office asking if we could accept him into our rescue. We were told that his owner carried him into the vet's office with a very severe eye issue, placed him down, and turned around and walked out. All done without a word, leaving this poor little pup abandoned. We are grateful, however, that the person that left him, at least brought him to a safe place where he could be properly helped. Without hesitation, we said yes of course we will take him. The vet's office did a fantastic job performing surgery to remove his eye that could not be saved, and by the next day he stole the hearts of the entire vet's office. He has healed beautifully and is now ready for his forever home! We believe him to be a chihuahua mix, around 3-4 years old. He weighs 12 lbs, is up to date with vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped. If interested in adopting Scotty, please email us for an application at adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org Please note we are always in need of foster homes for our dogs. If interested in making a difference in a dog's life we would love to share with you what it means to be a foster parent.

Story
ATTENTION: Kennel staff will be taking applications on me and picking the most appropriate home. Hello there, my name is Ava and I am just the softest little lady around the shelter. I am VERY nervous of new people and will require a couple meet and greets before I am fully comfortable with you. Once I open up I can be playful and want all the pets and snuggles, but only on my terms. I will need an adult only home who is respectful of the boundaries that I set. I came into the shelter when my owner was moving into no-pet housing and could not take me with them. I have lived with a dog previously, and could again, as well as a cat, as long as they're not overly playful with me, since I have some special medical needs. I have what the veterinarians call "bilateral luxating patellas", which means that the tendons in my knees are dislocated regularly, even when the vet tries to manipulate them back into their proper position. This is something that is painful for me, and will require working with my new owners veterinarian to get me on pain medication. Staff have been keeping me comfortable though, through a fort of pillows, dog beds, and blankets in my kennel so I always have somewhere soft to snuggle into. I enjoy snoozing the day away in the kennel and once I am comfortable with you, hanging out with humans as they tell me how sweet and lovely I am! I have potty accidents in my kennel overnight, but during the day I am fully clean!Weight: 6 If you would like more information about me and how to potentially adopt me, please contact the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126.

Story
Hello my name is Sam, short for Samantha. I am a three and a half year old Chihuahua/Miniature pincher mix spayed girl who weighs 22 pounds. (I am 14 inches tall and 13 inches from my collar to the base of my tail. My personality is super easy. I love wearing fancy purple pearl collars and I am an intelligent young lady. I am house-trained, kennel-trained, and love car rides. I know "sit" command and love walks. My ideal new family would be a person who wants a loyal companion, easygoing dog. No crazy barking, no potty training, just a sweet grateful little friend to enjoy life. My first family did not appreciate me and gave me up over a young puppy. My foster mom thinks I am pretty fabulous and certainly deserving of another chance at life. We look forward to Sam's future with a new family in a lovely new environment. Sam has been examined by our vet, she is spayed, microchipped, current on all vaccines-dhpp, rabies, bordetella, canine influenza, & leptospirosis. Our vet has cleared her from any heart murmurs, luxating patellas, and any health conditions. All vaccines are given by our outstanding vet & vet techs. We email all veterinary records prior to adoption. Sam has tested heartworm negative (4/09/24) and is currently on Simparica Trio for heartworm and flea/tick prevention. We provide our rescued puppies and dogs with the highest quality veterinary care as our own pets receive. Proper veterinary care is our number one PRIORITY and it shows in the health of our rescued puppies and dogs. My adoption fee is $450 and transportation fee is $350 from Houston, Texas to the East Coast. We use the highest standard transporter in the industry. We have many happy adopters on both West Coast, East Coast, and Canada. We are pleased to provide referrals upon request. Our greatest goal is to properly match a rescued pup with the perfect adopter. We have over twenty plus years experience in rescuing pets. It is truly our greatest joy.
