Story
Homer is a 2-month-old Chihuahua mix who is expected to stay small when fully grown. This tiny guy is pure sweetness and always seems to have his tail wagging, ready to cuddle with anyone who will give him a little attention. His absolute favorite thing in the world? Belly rubs! Homer will happily curl up right next to you, roll onto his back, and politely demand some tummy scratches. He’s a total cuddle bug who loves being close to his people and soaking up affection. Like any young puppy, Homer is still learning about the world and will need a patient, committed adopter who’s excited to guide him through puppyhood and show him the ropes. In return, he promises plenty of snuggles, wagging tails, and endless belly-up requests for rubs. Approved adopters interested in Homer can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you’re not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com.

Story
Rocket was gifted to me in 2020 when he was just eight weeks old. At the time I moved to a city alone and needed the companion. I love him dearly but at this stage in my life I do not have the capacity to care for him. He loves walks, playing tug of war, playing fetch, chewing on his bone & barking at delivery drivers. He loves cuddles and constant pets. He’s an awesome dog and companion so I am seeking someone or a family just as awesome and loving that will genuinely care him. He’s also great with kids.

Story
Say Hi to ChiChi! 4 years old | 11 lbs | Chihuahua mix | From the Manhattan ACC This irresistible little guy came to us from the local Manhattan ACC and is now searching for his forever home — one that truly appreciates the magic (and mischief) of a Chihuahua. ChiChi has firm boundaries with strangers, but once you’re in his circle, you’re in. With patience and respect, he warms up and proudly shows off his phenomenal personality. He’s goofy, expressive, and incredibly affectionate once bonded. He loves a good snuggle, enthusiastic hand wrestling sessions, tug-of-war, and anything interactive and engaging. While in our care, ChiChi has been fully committed to his personal growth journey He underwent a left eye enucleation and cryptorchid neuter (1/8) and has recovered beautifully. After surgery, he headed to board & train to build the skills he’ll need to thrive in his forever home. He is very food motivated, loves to work, and genuinely enjoys training sessions. Brain games? Yes please. ChiChi is an energetic, outdoorsy pup who thrives on:• Long walks and time outside• Playing ball and structured play• Mental enrichment and learning new skills Now let’s talk personality — because ChiChi has plenty of it. He is confident, pushy, and yes… a little bratty. If boundaries aren’t clear, he will absolutely try to run the show. Structure isn’t optional for ChiChi — it’s what helps him feel secure and succeed. He does best with: • Clear, consistent rules• Staying off furniture• A drag leash indoors to reinforce boundaries• An experienced owner who won’t be outsmarted by 11 pounds of determination ChiChi can be vocal when he’s excited or wants something, and he appreciates having his space respected as he continues building trust. He will need to be the only dog in the home and would do best in an adult-only household with someone experienced in managing strong-willed small dogs. This is not a “carry him everywhere and treat him like a baby” Chihuahua. This is a Chihuahua for a true Chihuahua lover — someone who understands their spice, their sensitivity, their intelligence, and their need for leadership. With structure, patience, and consistency, ChiChi is incredibly rewarding. He bonds deeply, loves hard, plays enthusiastically, and thrives when given thoughtful guidance. If you’re active, experienced, and appreciate a dog with personality, humor, and a little edge — ChiChi might just be your perfect match. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.   To apply for Chi Chi, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2630169##

Story
Rambo & Nonna  Rambo and Nonna are two incredibly sweet, silly little dogs who have been through a big loss and are ready for their next chapter. They came to Waggytail Rescue after their beloved human sadly passed away, and as far as we know, they’ve lived together their entire lives. We believe they may be mother and son. Their personalities complement each other beautifully. Nonna is calm, steady, and quietly confident, while Rambo is a sensitive lovebug with oversized ears and a big heart. Rambo is emotionally bonded to Nonna and struggles when separated from her, while Nonna is more independent. Because of this dynamic, our ideal scenario is an adopter or foster-to-adopt home willing to welcome both dogs together, though we are thoughtfully exploring other options if needed. In their foster home, both dogs have been absolute joys: They are crate trained and have been left alone for about 5 hours with no issues They are mostly potty trained — they use a mix of pee pads but also know to go as soon as they get outside and do very well with a consistent routine They’ve settled into an easy, predictable schedule:wake up with their human → breakfast and walk → nap → lunchtime pee break → nap → dinner, walk, and final pee break before bed They are great with new people and warm up quickly Both dogs would do best in a calm, patient home that understands they’re still adjusting to a big life change and may need a little grace as they continue to settle in. They’ve shown they are adaptable, affectionate, and eager to be part of a loving routine. What they need most now is stability, kindness, and consistency — whether together in one home (our preference) or, if necessary, in carefully chosen placements that set them up for success. If you’re interested in adopting or fostering-to-adopt Rambo and Nonna (together or to learn more), please reach out. They are truly special little dogs and will reward the right home with so much love. The combined adoption fee for Rambo and Nonna is $800 total. This bundled fee reflects our standard adoption fee for an adult dog is $450 per dog. Under Waggytail’s care, both dogs will receive spay/neuter, a full round of vaccinations, wellness exams, and any additional medical care deemed necessary before adoption.  To apply for Rambo & Nonna, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. Story
Crystal is an 8 year old princess chihuahua / beagle mix. Crystal is in her mommy-makeover glow-up era during her time in foster home at WaggyTail Rescue. She has gone through benign tumor surgeries and dental procedures and is feeling in tip-top shape and ready to find her forever home.  Crystal is currently being fostered in the Upper East Side of Manhattan and very much enjoys an easy life of lounging, listening to jazz (really!) and cuddling up next to any warm human body.  In her true princess personality, Crystal only likes to walk short distances and you're lucky to make it around a block. If you're looking for a walking or running companion, she is not your match :) Crystal has gained weight during her time in foster care and is now 13 pounds and could fill out 2-3 more pounds. With her resistance to long walks, she is looking for a future new owner(s) who can comfortably pick her up and carry her with the support of two hands. Crystal much prefers going to a park or out to brunch when carried in a sling. She does great in-sling on the bus and train.   Crystal is house-trained and enjoys laying on her blanket on the couch for most of the day. At night time, she would do best with an owner(s) who would happily let her sleep in the bed with them. She likes to cuddle close and enjoys being under the covers at times. For both the couch and bed, Crystal needs stairs to get on/off the furniture.  When coming into foster care, Crystal had severe separation anxiety and would not be well when left alone. She has worked to overcome this by leaps and bounds, but took almost a month of her feeling secure in her new environment.  Crystal has previously lived in a home with other small dogs and would possibly prefer a home that would give her a furry sibling. When approaching dogs on walks, Crystal's bark can come out and sound aggressive, but with leash resistance and training she is able to move past.  Crystal is trained to go potty outside, with walks every 4-5 hours. At her foster home, she also has pee pads that she uses, but is still having indoor accidents off the pad a couple times a week. She will need additional training.  We recommend that Crystal go to a home with older (teenage) children who can appreciate and respect her boundaries.  Crystal is an absolute sweetheart and is looking for an all-star new owner(s) who will give her all the love she deserves. She is looking for a relaxing home.  Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  To apply for Crystal, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal.
