Story
Charlie just turned 3 years old — a birthday she spent, once again, behind the walls of the shelter she’s called home for almost a year and a half. 🥀She’s a beautiful Rottweiler/Retriever mix with the softest eyes and the sweetest soul… but you’ll have to earn the chance to see that side of her. Charlie struggles with meeting new people — the world hasn’t always been kind to her — but if someone could just give her a few chances, visit her a couple of times, sit quietly nearby and let her heart unfold on its own… they’d find the most loyal, gentle, loving dog waiting underneath the fear. 💔Once she trusts you, she’s pure sunshine — a snuggly, kiss-giving, tail-wagging angel who will follow you anywhere. She walks beautifully on a leash, rides calmly in the car, and loves to stretch her legs running around the yard before curling up in a soft bed or a pile of blankets. She doesn’t care much for toys — she just wants love, safety, and someone to finally stay. 🐾Charlie has done well with some dogs here, but she takes her time getting comfortable — both with people and other pets. She’d do best in a quiet, low-traffic home with no young kids or cats. She’s a staff and volunteer favorite because we’ve seen the real her — the dog that greets you with kisses, melts into your lap, and looks at you like you’re her entire world. 🌙We keep telling her that her person is out there. That someone will see past the nerves and realize what a once-in-a-lifetime dog she truly is. But with every day that passes, she waits a little longer.Maybe you’re the one she’s been waiting for. 🖤More information? Story
Butch was so frightened when arriving to us, but who wouldnt have been. Picked up as a stray with his buddy, Billy. Taken to the shelter where he was minutes from losing his life. Then transported across the country with lots of other barking and frightened pups. It’s been a whirlwind of stressful events. But even so, Butch began to relax slightly after a few days and after a week he allowed us to touch him. It just takes a little time and patience. Billy warms up a lot faster, but with time these two will be a delightful addition to any family. We are looking for someone with the time and patience to bring the best out in this sweet boy who Wants so badly to trust and believe there is good that exists in this scary world. At not quite three weeks we are now receiving kisses from Butch. Both boys are vaccinated, neutered, flea and tick treated and microchipped. Please submit an application to meet these sweet little guys. Canaananimalsanctuary.org

Story
Billy is a very sweet but shy boy who barely escaped death with his buddy Butch. They were already in the euth room in a shelter in Texas, but fortunately we were able to pull them just in time. Billy and Butch were roaming the streets with a few other dogs when they were picked up by ACS. It has been a rough start to life for these two, but we are hoping they will find a wonderful family to show them that life can be good and not all humans are bad or scary. They are definitely bonded and must be kept together. Billy adjusted pretty quickly, but little Butch is frightened and less trusting and will take a little longer to warm up. Once he begins to trust and relax, you will see his loving and kind personality emerge. Please submit an application to meet these two special boys. Canaananimalsanctuary.org

Story
Betty and Bernie are a bonded, brother and sister. They are 8 years old and weigh less than 20 pounds. Betty and Bernie enjoy taking care of each other by washing each other‘s faces. They are crate trained, and love sleeping in their crates as long as they can see each other. A sheet draped over both crates helps them block out nightly distractions. They love snuggling with humans and get along fine with cats. Betty and Bernie have adjusted really well to the other small dogs in their foster home. They still enjoy going out on walks. They are up to date on vaccines and ready to live their golden years together surrounded by the love they deserve. Betty and Bernie were the cherished companions of an elderly gentleman who had to go into memory care and could no longer care for them. The adoption fee for Betty and Bernie is $200 each.

Story
🐾 Little Andy is looking for the right person to give him forever family.Little Andy was found living as a stray. A homeless man was eventually able to get a piece of twine around his neck so he could be brought to safety. Based on his behavior, it’s likely Little Andy was not treated very kindly early in life.Because of that, he does not like to be picked up—but he absolutely loves being near his person. His favorite things are laying next to you while you watch TV and curling up nearby at bedtime.Little Andy enjoys the simple things in life:☀️ Laying in the sun🧸 Gathering his toys🪟 Watching the world go by from the window❤️ Getting very excited when his human comes homeHe can be a little bossy with other dogs, so he would need a very patient canine sibling or would also do well as the only dog soaking up all the attention.Little Andy will keep you safe from the Amazon drivers, happily jump in the car for rides, and enjoy short walks with his favorite person. His ideal home would be a quiet environment with someone looking for a loyal companion. Because it’s just too tempting to scoop up this adorable little guy, a home without children would be best.Little Andy may have had a rough start, but with the right person who understands him, he will be a devoted best friend for life. 🐾If you’d like to meet Little Andy, apply at ricopetrecovery.org.Adoption Fee is $200.

Story
Meet this adorable 4-year-old Chihuahua mix who is ready to find her perfect forever home! At about 10 pounds, she's the ideal little sidekick with a big personality. She's potty trained, does well with other dogs, and absolutely loves playing fetch— it's her favorite game! She’ll need to be leashed outside unless the yard is securely fenced. Like many Chihuahuas, she can be vocal and may bark when meeting new people, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her sweet, affectionate personality shines through. She'll do best with a family that understands small dogs and is willing to give her a little time to warm up. If you're looking for a loyal, playful companion with lots of love to give, this little girl could be the perfect match. Sky has a stuffed elephant that she loves and that she takes everywhere. The family adopting Sky will have to make room for her elephant too! Sky is spayed and will receive her second vaccines on 8/3. She will be ready to go to her forever home after that. Apply to meet Sky at ricopetrecovery.org. The adoption fee for Sky is $250.
