Story
Toby is simply the wrong dog for the owners situation. He is a friendly, loving guy. He will be a year old this month. He is housebroken but needs consistency. He is very well crate trained. He needs careful introduction to other dogs as he goes full play mode, and doesn't have any manners. This is also how he is with cats and will give chase. He loves balls and other toys. He is good with kids and people. Walks well on a leash. He does need neutered. The owner is older and simply unable to keep up with his energy level. He received Toby as a gift, and while we have tried many different things, we both feel Toby would be better with a family who can wear him out and appreciate his sense of fun.

Charlie just turned 3 years old — a birthday she spent, once again, behind the walls of the shelter she’s called home for almost a year and a half. 🥀She’s a beautiful Rottweiler/Retriever mix with the softest eyes and the sweetest soul… but you’ll have to earn the chance to see that side of her. Charlie struggles with meeting new people — the world hasn’t always been kind to her — but if someone could just give her a few chances, visit her a couple of times, sit quietly nearby and let her heart unfold on its own… they’d find the most loyal, gentle, loving dog waiting underneath the fear. 💔Once she trusts you, she’s pure sunshine — a snuggly, kiss-giving, tail-wagging angel who will follow you anywhere. She walks beautifully on a leash, rides calmly in the car, and loves to stretch her legs running around the yard before curling up in a soft bed or a pile of blankets. She doesn’t care much for toys — she just wants love, safety, and someone to finally stay. 🐾Charlie has done well with some dogs here, but she takes her time getting comfortable — both with people and other pets. She’d do best in a quiet, low-traffic home with no young kids or cats.She’s a staff and volunteer favorite because we’ve seen the real her — the dog that greets you with kisses, melts into your lap, and looks at you like you’re her entire world. 🌙We keep telling her that her person is out there. That someone will see past the nerves and realize what a once-in-a-lifetime dog she truly is. This 3-year-old chihuahua is the definition of “small but mighty.” Vinny has that classic chihuahua charm: a little sassy, a lot loyal, and always ready to let the big dogs know who’s really in charge. Vinny lives comfortably with both dogs and cats and does fine sharing his space, as long as everyone respects that he’s the VIP. He’s also been around kids as young as 6 and did well, especially when they understand that a gentleman like Vinny appreciates a little respect with his cuddles. Speaking of cuddles, this is where Vinny shines. His favorite place in the world? In your arms, snuggled up. He loves being held, doted on, and treated like royalty. Vinny can be a little nervous about new people when first meeting them, with time and treats he will soon fall into your arms. Applicants should live within an hour of Toledo, Ohio. Meet Cleo! Cleo is a 10-year-old Chihuahua–Miniature Pinscher mix weighing about 12 pounds — the perfect little companion for your lap and your heart. This sweet girl was surrendered to our local shelter and is now safe in foster care, waiting patiently for her forever home. Cleo is a total lovebug who just wants to be cuddled and adored. She listens well, loves to snuggle in your lap, and has a calm, gentle nature that makes her a joy to have around. She currently lives with other dogs and does very well with them. She hasn’t lived with cats or children, so we’re not sure how she would do, but her sweet temperament suggests she might adjust well with proper introductions. Cleo is a smart little lady who already knows a few commands such as “come,” “no,” and “leave it.” She hasn’t used a crate in her foster home and has had very few potty accidents — she’s doing great with her house manners! Cleo would fit beautifully in almost any home — whether you’re a single person looking for a loyal companion or a family wanting a gentle, affectionate addition. She can be a little vocal when meeting new people (she likes to say hello in her own way!) but quickly warms up once she knows she’s among friends. Although a fenced yard is preferred, it’s not a dealbreaker for this little lady — what she really needs is someone who will love her, keep her safe, and make her feel like part of the family.
