Story
Meet Louie! Don't let his age fool you, Louie still has plenty of love left to give! This adorable senior Chihuahua mix found himself at the shelter after being surrendered with his loyal best friend, Luka. After everything they've been through together, we're hoping to find them a forever home where they can continue sharing life's adventures. Louie recently had his senior wellness exam and is in pretty good health. His biggest medical need is a dental cleaning with the removal of some diseased teeth, and he's already scheduled to have that taken care of. Once his smile is feeling better, he'll be ready to enjoy all the comforts of home. Louie is everything people love about senior small dogs, gentle, sweet, and happiest when he's close to the people he loves. He enjoys the simple things in life: a cozy lap, a soft bed, a leisurely stroll, and plenty of quiet companionship. His calm, loving nature makes him an easy little friend to adore. From the history we were given, Louie lived peacefully with three cats and has good house manners, making him an easy companion in the home. We don't have any information about his experience with other dogs, so we'll be doing dog introductions to learn how he feels about potential canine friends. If you're looking to make a life-changing difference for two deserving dogs, Louie and Luka are ready to fill your home with twice the love, twice the gratitude, and a friendship that's truly special. Be sure to submit an adoption application on our website! Adoption fee includes; spay/neuter, microchip, microchip registration, dewormer, fecal testing, flea/tick prevention and age-appropriate vaccines. Louie would do great in a home with...Cats : Yep! Story
Meet Mouse! Mouse is a sweet Chihuahua mix with a story that speaks to her resilience. She came to us as a stray, doing everything she could to keep herself and her five puppies safe. Thanks to her dedication, all of her puppies have found loving homes. Now it's Mouse's turn. Over the past month, Mouse has made incredible progress as she's learned that people can be kind and that she no longer has to live in survival mode. Every day, she becomes a little braver. She gets SO excited when her favorite people come to take her for walks or spend time with her, and watching her personality slowly blossom has been incredibly rewarding. While Mouse has come a long way, she's still learning that affection and gentle handling are safe. Being loved is a new experience for her, and she needs a patient family willing to let her move at her own pace. Experience with shy or fearful dogs would be a wonderful bonus, but most importantly, she's looking for someone who understands that trust is earned through consistency, kindness, and time. Mouse has done well with other respectful dogs who allow her space to investigate and don't pressure her to play or interact before she's ready. She previously shared a room with another young female dog that she seemed to really enjoy, so a calm, well-mannered canine companion could be a great match. Because she's still building confidence, Mouse would likely do best in a home without young children. Respectful teens may be a good fit. Her history with cats is unknown. Mouse isn't looking for perfection she's looking for someone willing to see the amazing dog she's becoming. In return, you'll have the privilege of watching a once-frightened little survivor discover what it truly means to feel safe, loved, and home. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! If you would like to be considered as Mouse's forever home, be sure to submit an adoption application on our website! Adoption fee includes; spay/neuter, microchip, microchip registration, dewormer, fecal testing, flea/tick prevention and age-appropriate vaccines. Story
Meet Grandma Judith! At just 5 pounds, Grandma Judith may be teeny tiny, but she has an enormous heart. This precious little senior Chihuahua found herself surrendered to a busy shelter, and we knew we had to get her to safety as quickly as possible. Judith is approximately 12 years old and is the definition of a gentle soul. She's quiet, sweet, and always seems happy to meet new people. She gets along well with other dogs, though because she's both vision and hearing impaired, she's fairly indifferent to them. She simply enjoys peacefully existing alongside her furry friends. Judith is searching for a calm, quiet, and predictable home where she can confidently navigate her surroundings. She's a little lady who appreciates routine and a peaceful environment where she can truly relax. This special girl does have a grade 4 heart murmur and takes two daily medications to help her feel her very best. Despite her medical needs, Judith has plenty of joy to share and is happiest soaking up life's simple pleasures. Her favorite things include doing the cutest little happy dance when it's mealtime, basking in the sunshine whenever she gets the chance, leisurely sniffing around the yard, curling up in a cozy dog bed, and taking stroller rides so she can enjoy the world in comfort and style. While Judith's history with cats is unknown, we believe she would do just fine with feline friends. Because of her tiny size and sensory impairments, we think she'd be happiest in a home without young children. Grandma Judith may be in her golden years, but she still has so much love to give. If you're looking for a gentle companion who asks for little more than kindness, comfort, and a warm sunny spot to nap, Judith is ready to spend her retirement years loving you. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! If you would like to be considered as Judith's forever home, be sure to submit an adoption application on our website! Story
This girl is a great dog. I've been working with her for over a year now. She is great with people, kids, still learning cats as we don't have any... but seems inquisitive though might be a little too rough in play for most kitties and very small children. Nonetheless, this little Monkey seems to adore kids of all ages. Monkey walks great on leash, she has great recall, does not bark when someone knocks on the door, is very loving and cuddly, but does not lick faces. She enjoys sitting with me in the outdoor community area, quietly watching people walk by. Monkey is special needs because she will need someone who knows how to appropriately understand and work with Monkey's potential to overreact towards unfamiliar dogs who cross her threshold. This has become much easier to manage; Monkey listens and responds exceptionally well.

Story
🐾 Zero — The Hug-Powered Hero Zero might only weigh 25 pounds, but he’s running pure main-character energy. This scrappy Chi-Terrier mix grew up on the tough streets of SoCal, dodging trouble and charming snacks out of strangers. These days, he’s traded back-alley hustle for hero duty — keeping watch, calling out suspicious noises, and making sure his person always knows when something’s up. But when the coast is clear? That’s when Zero unleashes his real superpower — the full-body hug. He leans in with everything he’s got, melting right into you until the world disappears. Then, just when your heart can’t take any more sweetness, he flips over and offers his belly like a tiny furry trust fall. Zero’s the perfect blend of alert dog and emotional support specialist: part security system, part therapy blanket. He’s loyal, funny, and always game for a snack break after patrol. Special Skills: 💞 Hug attack (melts humans instantly) 🔊 Early-warning bark system 🐾 Expert belly-rub receiver 🦴 Snack detection radar Zero’s ready to find his hero — someone who appreciates enthusiasm, loyalty, and the power of one perfectly timed hug.
