I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.I am still learning how to walk on leash, especially in new environments that can be overwhelming. I need verbal encouragement, patience and of course treats from you to help me!I'm a fiend for food! Snacks are a great way to make friends with me and win your way into my heart.Escape Artist: I have a history of escaping doors or fences. I will need supervision when outdoors or we can go on adventures together - on leash of course!New things are a little scary to me, but I all I need is time and someone to show me it's okay.I lived with cats in my previous home. The type of home I'm looking for:I would flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted. Story
This tiny pixie girl practically twinkles, and it is a contagious bit of happiness that makes people love her immediately. On top of that she meets you more than half-way on being besties so who could ever not fall for her? This little love is Churro Pixie Pocket! Go watch Churro on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this easy, happy little companion that is ready to fit right into your life like she’s always belonged there. https://youtu.be/L8DnhLF6uXU Churro is estimated to be around 3.5 years old and weighs in at a perfectly portable 9.5 lbs. She appears to be a chihuahua mix, and as always with rescue, breed and age are our best guess. What we do know for sure? She is an absolute delight. The kind of dog that makes you smile without even trying. Churro is fostered in a loving, multi-pet home sharing space with a variety of dogs (big and small) and several cats… and she’s wonderful with all of them. She enjoys playful moments with the dogs, but she doesn’t rely on them to feel comfortable or complete. Churro is just as happy soaking up love directly from her people, which means she will thrive as a solo dog or alongside furry siblings. Behavior-wise, everything about Churro is beautifully typical for a chihuahua, in the best way. She’s expressive, affectionate, adaptable, and easy to understand. She eased into her foster home with no trouble and has been a lovely guest. She has great social skills with people and dogs and a, beautiful balance of being both playful and relaxed. She’ll happily engage when it’s time for fun, but she’s just as content settling in beside you or curling up in her dog bed. Churro is not a version of Chihuhua that loves being out and about all the time. She is pleasant in the car but not the kind of dog who needs constant outings, windows down, to feel fulfilled. Her joy is much simpler- connection, comfort, and being near her people. If you’re looking for a small dog who brings companionship and true sweetness, in teeny-tiny package… this is your girl! Apply today to welcome Churro home. She is ready and waiting! Apply here- https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69c553792271792b970d210e Questions? Story
Meet Twister, a 2-year-old, 12 lb Chihuahua mix with a resilient spirit and a quietly charming personality. After being left behind when his previous owners moved, Twister has shown just how adaptable and strong he is. He’s an independent little guy who doesn’t demand constant attention, but still enjoys being near his people on his own terms. Twister gets along well with other dogs and would do fine in a home with canine companions. He is kennel trained and settles in nicely, making him an easy addition to a calm, structured home. While he may take a little time to fully open up, once he feels safe, his personality begins to shine. At night, Twister loves to sleep with his family, making him a cozy and loyal companion. Twister is currently seeking a foster home in Central Texas to help him through his vetting process before he becomes available for adoption. If you can offer him a safe place to land, you’ll be giving this deserving boy a second chance at the life he deserves. You can apply directly for Twister by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-853 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).
