Story
Meet Phoebe PeeWee Ark — a gentle soul looking for someone willing to let her take life at her own pace. Phoebe can be very anxious when meeting new people or entering unfamiliar places, so she isn’t the kind of dog who will necessarily run up and become your best friend five minutes after meeting you. She needs a little time to observe, settle in, and realize that she’s safe. But give her that time, and you’ll get to see the affectionate, sweet girl hiding underneath those worried eyes. Once Phoebe is comfortable, she is happiest enjoying the simple things: relaxing on the couch, spending time with her people, and hanging out with her four-legged friends. She currently lives in a foster home with multiple dogs and does wonderfully with them. She is dog friendly, small-dog friendly, and cat tolerant, and when she does decide it’s time to play, she has a wonderfully gentle play style. Phoebe is also house trained and easy on the leash, making her a pretty easygoing companion once she has settled into her routine. She isn’t looking for constant adventure or a packed social calendar — this girl has serious couch-potato potential. And then there are those eyes. Phoebe has incredibly expressive eyes that seem to tell you exactly what she’s thinking, whether she’s feeling unsure, curious, hopeful, or finally completely content. Phoebe’s ideal person won’t expect her to be brave overnight. They’ll understand that trust can take time and will allow her to approach new people and experiences without being rushed. In return, they’ll have the privilege of watching a nervous dog slowly realize, “I’m home. I’m safe here.” For the patient person willing to earn her trust, Phoebe PeeWee Ark has so much love waiting on the other side. At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress! We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. It doesn’t stop there! Story
Please note that this dog is currently located in TX and will be transported once adopted. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org. 🐾 Meet Vaquero! 🤠 **Rat Terrier Mix • Born May 15, 2026 • 7 lbs of pure puppy perfection** ### Here's what the humans have to say about me: Please note that we are a foster-based rescue in TX. All of our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. We transport them to new states once adopted. **ALL ADOPTERS MUST BE 21+.** Our adoption application can be found at **haydudeequine.org**. Now that we've gotten the boring human stuff out of the way… **HI! I’M VAQUERO!** 🐶 I may weigh only 7 pounds, but I have apparently decided that I need to fill every available inch of your heart, your lap, and possibly your home. I am a **Rat Terrier mix puppy**, which means I come with an impressive combination of adorable, playful, curious, and just the right amount of *“What’s that?! I MUST INVESTIGATE!”* 😂 I love wrestling with my brothers, chasing toys, exploring everything I can possibly find, and generally making sure nobody in the house gets too comfortable. I believe puppies should be busy. There are toys to chase! Things to sniff! Brothers to tackle! But after all that important puppy business, I am very happy to clock out and report for **snuggle duty**. ❤️ Give me a warm lap and a cozy spot, and I will happily curl up in your arms for a nap. I am basically a tiny adventure buddy who comes with a built-in cuddle setting. I'm also doing **really well with my potty training** and am eager to keep learning. I'm a smart little guy, and with a family willing to keep teaching me, I'm going to make an excellent companion. I get along wonderfully with **dogs of all sizes** and do well with **cats**, too. I love people, I love adventures, I love playtime, and I REALLY love being loved. So whether you're looking for a hiking buddy, a playmate, a couch potato, a professional snuggler, or someone who will make you laugh approximately 47 times a day… **Vaquero has submitted his application for the position.** 🐾 I'm small right now, but I've got a **BIG personality and an even bigger heart**. All I need now is a forever family to grow up with. **Come meet me. I have a feeling we're going to be best friends.** ❤️
