Story
Meet Bucky Chihuahua / Rat Terrier Mix | Male | DOB: 3/1/2024 | 15 Pounds | Healthy Bucky is 15 pounds of loyalty wrapped in a happy, wiggly body. At two years old, he’s the perfect balance — playful enough to keep life fun, mature enough to settle beautifully into a routine. He’s the kind of little dog who chooses his person and loves them with his whole heart. Personality Bucky is affectionate, bright, and deeply people-oriented. He enjoys walks, toys, and interactive play, but what he truly loves most is being close. He’ll follow you from room to room, curl beside you on the couch, and look at you like you’re the best thing that ever happened to him. He bonds strongly and thrives when he feels included. Breed Info Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mixes are intelligent, loyal, and spirited. They do best with structure, engagement, and consistent companionship. Small body — very big personality. Owner Responsibilities Daily companionship, gentle exercise, mental stimulation, and positive reinforcement. Bucky will flourish with routine and stability. &#226&#154&#160&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider Is your housing stable long-term? Do you have time daily for bonding? Adoption is a 12–15 year commitment, not a temporary arrangement. Vet Care Although healthy, adopters should establish care with their own veterinarian ASAP after adoption. 3-3-3 Rule 3 days to decompress. 3 weeks to understand your routine. 3 months to fully trust and feel home. Why Bucky? Bucky will not just be your dog — he will be your little shadow, your loyal companion, your steady presence. If you want devotion in a perfectly sized package, he’s waiting.   If you are interested in adopting this amazing dog, please follow the link https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions and fill out an application  Thank you for choosing Ozzie and Friends Rescue. What my friends at OHS say about me:I have been working with the Behavior team at OHS and I'm looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. Click the "meet me" button to start the process and schedule an appointment. To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.I am a sweet and sensitive boy who takes a little time to build trust and make friends.I like to make my way through life at a slower pace: short walks, lots of naps, and savoring tasty food.I'm a petite guy but pack a ton of personality into this small package!I am still learning how to walk on leash, especially in new environments that can be overwhelming. I need verbal encouragement, patience and of course treats from you to help me!The type of home I'm looking for:I need to be the only dog in the home.I need a home without cats or other small animals.I may do best with an owner who has had experience owning or caring for shy and fearful dogs.I need to go to an adult only home.It could be with you! Story
HI, MY NAME IS BRUISER and I'm a great little guy! I'm a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix who was rescued from an overcrowded and scary California shelter. I'm currently in a foster home, where I share my days with other dogs, though I'm losing my foster home soon. I get along well with other dogs, but would honestly do best with a female companion, or as only dog as sometimes the other boys annoy me. I'm a little underweight at the moment and weigh about 10 lbs. I am pretty quiet, and I love to snuggle! Can you adopt me? I'm currently still in California, but can be transported to you in Oregon. Please email for an application.

Story
Hi, I'm Waldo, a 6 year old, 25 pound mixed breed guy. My DNA says that I am mix of 12 small breeds, but really I am zero percent demanding and 100% endearing, I am fostered in Linn County, OR, We are about 1 hour from Sisters, Eugene, Salem, Corvallis. About 2 hours from Portland and Newport. We are willing to meet partway for those coming from a distance. I am a great companion dog, and an easygoing guy. I am house trained, like car rides, I walk well on leash. I get along well with other dogs. I will go on an off leash walk and do some zoomies then return to my people. . I enjoy belly up affection on your lap and also enjoy doing my own thing, just sitting outside sometimes. By day I enjoy sitting or hanging out outside part time, or snoozing indoors. By eve I love to lie with my person in a chair or on the couch, or in a dog bed. Despite my floofy hair/fur, I do not shed much if at all, and my hair does not grow. except a bit around my feet. Waldo will do well with folks who will take him on fun outings and include him on family outings. He would love a setting where he can be outdoors. Waldo was overcrated in his last home, so we seek a no crate home for him. He currently sleeps on a human's bed, but would be happy in a dog bed in his human's room too. A great home and must haves for Waldo include: 1. An owned or stable renter home with a securely enced yard. Acreage would also work well; he won't go far. 2. Adopters that have time to spend with him. Waldo has spent long hours alone in his past, and we want his future to have more company than not 3. Folks who believe in good nutrition and care for their pets. 4. Adopters who will include him in their fun activities and will treat him as a family member. If you meet all above criteria, don't miss out on uniquely lovely dog. To inquire, please email: awoofovermyhead@gmail.com. Include "waldo' in the subject line. Please tell us a bit about yourself and how Waldo would fit into your life. Leave a phone number where you can be reached. To apply, complete the following application. Please reply to each question and provide reasonably detailed responses. https://forms.gle/47kubBdhVF4usP2v6 Non-cigarette smokers, only, please. Thanks!

Story
Swirly is a tiny girl with impressive ears and a big personality! She came to us from California after she was being given away with her litter mate. Swirly is enjoying her time in our foster program feeling safe, cared for and with a tummy full of yummy food. - 4 pounds and estimated date of birth is 12/26/25 - Likely a Chihuahua mix. She is very small for her age and we predict she will be under 15 pounds full grown. We cannot guarantee size at maturity. - Getting lots of good handling, enrichment, socialization in her foster home. She loves to snuggle but is also a feisty little girl who can hold her own playing with the other puppies. - Seeking a home with other small dogs or she could do fine as a solo pup. We do not wish to place her in a home with large dogs due to her very small size and safety concerns. - Kids ages 10+ if there are children in the home. She is just too fragile for young kids. We are looking for committed puppy adopters willing to invest the time, training, patience, love and socialization to raise a wonderful dog. Swirly has had her first puppy vaccine and will get her second vaccine on 3/1/26. She is microchipped, has had three rounds of dewormer, a negative fecal test and is current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee includes her spay surgery between 7 - 12 months of age at our partner vet in SW Portland or Milwaukie. It also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Portland, Oregon City, Milwaukie or Tualatin. $450 adoption fee Fostered in Gresham, Oregon APPLY TO ADOPT SWIRLY ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG

Story
This cutie is Gizma. She is currently 3 months old and weighs approximately 11.9 pounds. We think they may be a Chihuahua/Terrier mix*, but with rescue it’s a guess! What matters most is that they are adorable and are one the MOST desperate in the entire US based on statistics for where this puppy is from. Shelters in this area are having to euthanize puppies. So, this puppy needs you! If you choose a puppy from us, it saves their life as well as the life of another in its place. Watch Gizma's playful personality here: https://youtu.be/T5qf8I0AK4o?si=bK9SvbkyINkEG3sc Gizma is playful, sweet, curious, and cuddly. She loves to play with her siblings and take lots of naps. Eat, sleep, play, repeat- such is puppy life! We pride ourselves in being able to give you good personality and behavioral information to help ensure this baby is the right fit for you. You are also welcome to do a Facetime call to meet your new baby before signing paperwork! Gizma is still very young and will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. A puppy is discovering new things that shape their personalities with each passing day. Implementing routine, structure, setting boundaries, and proper socialization is key from the start. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy starting immediately when arriving at their new home, which will help with potty training, energy management, and the overall development of a well-rounded adult dog. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
