Story
Howdy to Zeus! He is a 13 year old male chiweenie. Very scared but is wanting to be loved. No kids as he can be a bit snarky. Okay with other dogs. Would do best with a dog-savvy, or at least a chihuahua-savvy adopter with the patience to build his trust and confidence. WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name. Adoption fee of $265 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip heartworm test and treatment if needed and any other medical that may be required while in rescue. We only do adoptions on Saturday and not all animals are able to attend so if you would like to see a specific animal please let us know so that we can make arrangements for it to be present at the event. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage to find out where we will be this week. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us to cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap so thank you for your understanding and helping us save as many as possible. Please email lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.

Story
Dutton was surrendered to rescue after his owner could no longer care for him and his sister, Luna. Dutton is a bit shy at first, but give him and hour and he will be in your lap or in your arms. He would be a perfect office companion, rides well in the car and is crate-trained. Stay tuned to this page or our Facebook site for updates as we find out more about Dutton and await his neuter date. WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference in good standing is required which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name. Zoey is a Chihuahua/ terrier mix. While she is very lovable to her person once she gets to know them, she is still a submissive urinator when you try to pick her up. She loves to sleep in bed with you and snuggle when you wake up in the morning. Zoey will need a patient owner and a home with no small children. Est. Story
Smoky came to us from a rural shelter and collapsed within 24 hours of rescue with Parvo. Thanks to swift intervention, he is recovering and living the life a puppy should with his foster family and their dogs. His foster dad says Smoky is ALL puppy, complete with unlimited energy and playful puppy nipping (which is being "nipped" in the bud)! He plays with EVERYTHING, including, be forewarned, SHOES! Potty training is progressing, except when Smoky gets too excited and leaks. Puppy bladders can do that. He is getting along with the other dogs in his foster home. We think he's a chihuahua mix, but mixed with what? Who knows? We think he will remain small and carry-able, but who knows? Smoky is working on socialization and potty training. He lives in an active foster home with dogs, cats and children. He sailed through his first adoption event with flying colors and dealt with lots of noise, new people and other dogs like a pro!
