Apollo was adopted from our rescue and returned as his Momma is now in hospice. He was a wonderful companion to her but now he is trying to adjust in his foster home and doesn’t understand where his Momma is. She had taught him some cute tricks and towards the end he primarily stayed with her on her bed and had become very protective of her. He does not want you to pick him up but is happy to jump in your lap or sleep with you in bed. He enjoys the companionship of the other dogs in his foster home. He is located in Charlottesville Va.

READ CAREFULLY.  FOSTER NEEDED for surgery recovery.  Cute as a ladybug and sweet as honey....this little "foxy" chi is nothing short of adorable!  This poor sweetheart's underside is covered in mammary gland tumors but that doesn't stop her from seeking love and attention.  Ella has an appetite as big as her heart and chicken is her favorite.  We are prepping her for surgery to remove the growths and need a foster to help her heal after recovery.  Ella will have to undergo multiple surgeries so only someone committed to long term fostering should apply.  Once she's cleared by the vet, we'll be looking to place her with the most awesome family! ##2853444##

Aspen came from a very crowed rural shelter. He was so very scared in the shelter and the shelter was full, so his chances of making it out alive were very slim. So.....Augusta Dog adoptions pulled him along with 6 other dogs from that shelter. We have NO idea of his breed so we can only guess at it. We have no idea what breed he is. Best guess maybe some terrier...maybe some chihuahua....maybe some hound......maybe jack russell.....honestly maybe anything. It took several days for his foster mom to be able to touch him, but now he is doing fantastic. He has had a bath and enjoys playing with some of the foster dogs in his home. He seems to prefer dogs close to his size. He will need a patient person who will give him time to get used to them and then have lots of love to give him. He wants to be loved so badly. He seems to be housebroken and has learned to use the doggy door in his foster home. He is learning to walk on a leash and is doing great. He goes slowly and like to look around at things. Probably hasn't seen many things in his lifetime. To keep him safe and because of him being scared of things, a fenced in yard would be best. It doesn't have to be large - even though he does get the roomies sometimes. Aspen MUST have someone who understands scared dogs and will let them have their space and not force him to come to them. He will need some adjustment time when moving into a new home. Aspen is available with a pre approved application and a scheduled meet and greet.

Meet Gracie, a sweet girl who just wants to snuggle up next to her person. Gracie is a 1 year old Chihuahua mix with a heart full of love. She's a quick learner who already knows a few basic commands in the time she's been with us. Gracie's favorite spot is the lap or side of her chosen people. It may take her a little bit to warm up to new people and animals, but don't let this couch potato fool you! Once she's excited and ready to play she'll spin in circles like a ballerina before launching into full zoomies. Gracie gets along fantasticly with her foster brother and the neighborhood dogs, and would do well in a home with other dogs, though we aren't sure about how she is with cats yet. Gracie is still working on house and crate training but we know it's just a matter of time before she gets the hang of it. Don't miss your chance with this playful, loveable pup!

?? Meet Rubble! Rubble is a 4-year-old Chihuahua mix who has been through more than any dog should have to endure. He came to us through a seizure case after living in less-than-ideal conditions. Because he was never properly socialized, the world is a very scary place for this sweet boy. Rubble has such a gentle, sweet demeanor, but he simply doesn't know what to do when someone gives him affection. Lovins are new to him, and you can almost see him trying to figure out what this whole “being loved” thing is all about. Rubble is unsure of just about everything right now. He needs a patient, understanding person who will give him the time and space to decompress, build trust, and slowly learn that people, love, and the world around him don't have to be scary. He came in with three other dogs and is most likely dog-friendly, but a dog test will be required. We are unsure how he feels about cats, so super slow and patient introductions would be best. We are also unsure how he will feel around children, so we ask that the entire family come for the meet. Rubble is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. He doesn't need someone to rush him. He needs someone willing to sit beside him, go at his pace, and show him what a safe and loving home feels like. Sometimes the dogs who need the most patience are the ones who have the most love to give once they finally feel safe. We're hoping Rubble finds someone willing to give him that chance.
