Story
Cookie is estimated to be 8 years old and weighs 10-12 lbs. She is a rescue from Korea and is being fostered in Haymarket, VA. Cookie has not had many interactions with people during her long shelter years in Korea, therefore she is a bit skittish. However, in the right environment, she can blossom. Please know that even though she can be playful at times, she tends to hide in the house. We would not want a home with small kids. She loves going for walks so we would really like someone who can do multiple walks during the day. (Long and short) Fenced in yard is a must for her. We think she would be best as an only dog to receive all attention or another dog with gentle, calm demeanor. She is a sweetheart with skittish temperament, and we would love to find the right home for her. All our adoptions come with 2-week trial. If interested, please submit an application for us to review. Www.nmser.org

Story
Breena would do best with a patient female adopter. She was born on October 24. 2022. She is fearful of strangers, especially men. Will snuggle with her person once she gets used to you and can be very loving to her person. Not recommended for family with young children. She had her 1st vaccines but is due for boosters. She will use pee pads but has never been around carpet so may confuse it for pee pads. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Story
I received Snickers as a present. He is 3 years old. He eats very fast and to slow his pace, he eats from a maze bowl. He has an elevated liver and this is the reason why he ONLY eats liver dry food. He is very active and loves to run and is very smart. Does respond to commands. Just basic ones. Snickers xxxx@xxxx.x leaves. He is a nipper but has never bitten anyone. Snicker needs room to run and grow. For whatever reason...I see him running on a farm :) He needs someone that can spend quality time with him and love him for him.

Story
Single, balding, middle aged, semi-retired, distinguished gentleman, seeking companionship: The name is Maxwell. My friends call me Max. Sometimes, they also call me an asshole. I'm looking for love again. Hopefully it still exists at my age. I'm 9 years old. Short, 18 pounds. I'm also a little bald but my skin matches my hair so your friends won't notice. It's the same concept as men who spray canned hair color on their bald spots. I'm Divorced. The last woman who loved me fled the country. My passport was no good so I couldn't go. Kinda sad. I do miss her. I'm in temporary housing so it's a real bonus if you have a pad where we can play house. I don't really like young children but I guess I could tolerate it for hours if you have visitors. I enjoy naps in the recliner and my favorite shows are British comedy and murder mysteries. I know my physical description doesn't sound great, but I'm not looking for Miss America or Mr. Olympia either. (btw, I go both ways) A good-looking companion is a bonus, but at this point it's not a requirement for me. I have a soft side and I do enjoy cuddling and taking long walks. I have my moments too. I can be grouchy and sometimes I can lash out but I'm working on that! Nobody is perfect. I'm sure you're not either, right? I'm opinionated and I don't want a lot of friends. I'd prefer to be the only fur fella so I can have all of your attention. I'm a GREAT listener as I don't have much to say. Poor your cocktail and tell me your life story. I can listen for hours. If you've gotten this far and didn't stop reading, then I feel like I might have a chance with you. The real deal details: Maxwell came to us when his owner had to move overseas and couldn't take him with her. He lived with her all 8 years of his life until coming to our rescue. He is smart and would be a nice companion dog for the right adopter. He doesn't enjoy the company of young kids. Maxwell really loves his foster family, but he will act out if he is made to feel uncomfortable. He gets nervous if he thinks someone is going to do something to him that he doesn't like. He's a nipper when he feels unsafe. He will need an adopter that understand "small dog" attitude. This little guy still has a lot of love & life to give to some lucky adopter. He is housetrained and VERY easy going! He ignores the cats in his foster home. Maxwell is up to date on his vaccines, microchipped and neutered. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from Canine and Kitties Rescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $375.00, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.

Story
Want to meet ME?* Come to our adoption event this weekend: Sunday, September 29th from 11:30-1:30 Dulles Landing PetSmart 24570 Dulles Landing Dr, #140 Dulles, VA 20166 Only Canines & Kitties Rescue pre-approved adopters will be able to bring a dog/puppy/cat/kitten home from the adoption event. Please apply a few days (or more) ahead of the event to allow time for processing. We hope to see you on Sunday!!! *Dog/Cat attendance is not guaranteed. Feel free to text the event coordinator to confirm a specific dog/cat's attendance: 703-447-4766 Meet Daphne! Daphne is about 5 months old and weighs 11 lbs. We think she looks like a Terrier/Hound Mix (Just a Guess). We know her mom was 30 lbs (pic attached), but we have no idea on the dad. Daphne is a very good listener and likes to "please". Daphne is great with kids. Daphne enjoys romping and playing with the resident dogs in her foster home and she will require another young and playful dog in her forever home. Young puppies require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to work on training and socialization. This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many!
