PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - DUSTY BREED - Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) SIZE - About 12 pounds AGE - 4 years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Meet Dusty, a perfect little dog who came to us recently from a NC shelter where he was found as a stray! Not only is he adorable, but he is super sweet and very playful. Dusty is very loving, happy, and would love to become your perfect pet! He absolutely adores being with his human, and enjoys the company of other small dogs. Fully grown at just 12 pounds, he is a perfect size for most homes! Dusty is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. That said, he has tested positive for heart worms and we have begun the soft kill method of eradication as he is completely asymptomatic. This treatment is effective and all medications will accompany him to his new home! We are seeking a home with an adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home a good part of each day to spend time with this amazing dog! A home without larger pets or small children, and with a fenced, secure yard will give Dusty the room to run and play safely. Dusty will likely make a great couch potato as well as a loving friend! Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Dusty and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with your family and Dusty at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - COLE Hi there, my name is Cole, and I'm an affectionate and playful young pup with a lot of love to give! Even though I'm still just a youngster, I already have so much love and energy packed into my little body. I am friendly, and I am sure that I will provide you with a lifetime of happiness. I'm definitely the boss when it comes to other dogs and I definitely like to eat alone, but I love people and I can't wait to find a family of my own to shower with love and wet kisses. My previous owner died and I was without her in the house and scared. I am ready for a new family to give me a second opportunity. If you choose to welcome me into your home, I promise to be the best pup-son you could ever ask for! I am already neutered, microchipped and I have had my first vaccines. The vets say I am in very good health! I need a home with a fenced yard and without larger animals to keep me safe, and I don't think being with little children would be my favorite thing. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of both Cole and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Cole at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - TAWNY Hi there, my name is Tawny, and I'm an affectionate and gentle female pup with a lot of love to give! Even though I'm still just a youngster, I already have so much love and energy packed into my little body. I am friendly, and I am sure that I will provide you with a lifetime of happiness. I'm a small girl, still under ten pounds, and I may not get much larger at all, so I need a home without larger pets and small children who may accidentally hurt me. I also need a securely fenced yard and owners who have experience with very small dogs and keeping them safe. I can't wait to find a family of my own to shower with love and wet kisses. My previous owner died and I was without her in the house and scared. I am ready for a new family to give me a second opportunity. I am already spayed, microchipped and I have had my first vaccines. Story
This extra-adorable little fellow is Clay, a friendly, affectionate, and gentle dog who loves nothing more than receiving kisses from his human friends. Despite his young age, Clay is a very calm and well-behaved dog who is always eager to please. He is a smart dog who is quick to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement and treats. Unfortunately, Clay's previous owner passed away, leaving him and four other small dogs alone, and searching for a new home and family. He is used to other small dogs, and also used to a quiet and predictable lifestyle, which is what we seek for him. Larger dogs and young children will ge concerning, and we place great emphasis on homes with private, fully fenced yards. Clay is in good health, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He tested negative for heart worms and is on prevention. Clay is a wonderful companion who is looking for a loving home where he can be showered with affection and care. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Clay and our adoption criteria. Story
Meet Miss Summer.  This extremely sweet little lady had a hard first 6 years as she endured all kinds of filth and neglect living in the home or a hoarder.  She had 20 other dogs to keep her company so she is great with other dogs.  The horrible conditions did not adversely affect Miss Summer too much.  While she is a little shy, she still has the bright and sweet personality her name reflects.  She has experienced so much since going to her foster home and is growing more confident every day.  Since she really has had no life experiences everything is new to her.  She is getting used to riding in the car as she has already been to the vet twice.  Her foster mom is attempting to teach her to walk on a leash.  It is a slow go but as Summer gains confidence she will improve.  This little lady is a little cuddle bug and loves to be with her foster mom.  She does sleep with her as her foster brothers and sister do.  Summer's favorite place is on the back of the couch.  She is quite the athletic one and easily jumps from the floor to the chair to the back of the couch.  She can definitely see what is going on from her perch.  Summer has learned that you do 'your business' outside. On day 6 she started  'going' outside and also started doing zoomies around the yard.  Summer loves to lay in the sun so a fenced in yard is key to her happiness.  She loves her foster brothers and sister and warms up quickly to new people.  You just have to talk softly to her and take your time.  Even when her tail is between her legs it is wagging.  That shows you how sweet she really is.  This little lady loves to smell you first then give your hand little kisses.  She is much more about the people than the other dogs.  If you are looking for a precious little lady to add to your family, then please consider Miss Summer.  You will make a huge difference in her life and you won't be sorry.  Summer is spayed, current on all her shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  She also now has pearly white teeth as she has had a dental.  To be considered for Summer's forever family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Summer is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 11, 2024, 12:11 pm
