Story
Meet Chico! Chico is a 6-7 year old little guy who was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer care for him. Chico is a reserved fellow until he decides that he trusts you. He is fairly independent. He wouldn't do well with young children. He is happy sleeping in his favorite bed just knowing you are around. Chico does well with other dogs and cats. Chico does not care for leash walking but can be trained. He tolerates car rides OK. He is doing well with re-housebreaking as long as he’s let out every five hours or so. Chico prefers soft food. He enjoys Pepperoni treats! Chico had a bad habit in his previous home of barking and running after people who are leaving. He has not done this in his foster home. Chico is not crate trained as he behaves well in the home. He has ridden in a crate in the car and goes fine. Chico loves to sleep deep under the bed covers. He will sleep out on the sofa as well. Chico is a quiet fellow and will make an excellent chill companion! Chico is neutered, HW negative, vaccinated and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting him our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Meet Peanut Peanut is an older fellow (11 years) but pretty spry and full of life! He is a Velcro dog that loves to be with his person, which is pretty much anyone who gives him attention. He is friendly towards strangers. Peanut needs to be fed soft food ( doing well in Science diet sensitive skin and stomach) and he loves small bits of Pupperoni for a treat. He is a homebody who would prefer to walk around in a fenced yard but will walk on leash if needed. He is doing well with re-housebreaking as long as he’s let out every 5 hours or so. Peanut enjoys car rides too! He will sleep in bed with you or out on the sofa. He has not been crate trained as he does fine when free. Peanut does well with cats and other dogs as long as they respect his space. His only negative trait is fear of thunderstorms. He will run off if scared. He trembles and shakes until the storms pass. Overall Peanut will make a great companion! He is smart and engaged. Peanut is vaccinated, HW negative, neutered and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting Peanut our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Meet Dakota! She came to us when her owner passed away and the family could not keep her. She is a 4-year-old, spayed Chihuahua mix that weighs 16lbs. Dakota does well with cats (especially kittens) and dogs; we have not tested her with children. This is what her foster has to say about her: Dakota is the best cuddler. She has been through a lot in her short life and gets nervous when things change. She is playful, she likes playing with dogs but kittens are her favorite! She does not like being crated; she does fine out alone. Whoever adopts her will have a great new little family member! Remember, adopting a dog means committing to them for life. You will also need to give her time to adjust to her new home and its expectations. If you're interested in adopting Dakota, please don't call. Instead, complete an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We carefully review the care history of past and current pets. Our goal is to find the very best homes for all our dogs and cats, so we reserve the right to approve or deny applications based on what's best for the pets. #dogsareworthit #adoptdontshop #chimix #rescueisthebestbreed #lovedogs #dogs #dogsareacommittment

Story
This boy is a gem! He's absolutely perfect, a real turnkey dog. Fostered in Vero Beach, FL, small enough to fit easily into a bag for in-cabin flying. Enrique is a 7 year old, 7 lb male Chihuahua. He’s tiny but mighty, and a lil bit stocky. This super sweet social butterfly boy is an easy keeper and steals the heart of everyone he meets Enrique gets along with dogs of all sizes, cats and has never met a stranger. He is playful and affectionate with other dogs and would enjoy a canine companion but people are his PASSION! We have not seen him around children so perhaps older children would be best with his tiny size. His favorite place is in your lap or snuggled up in your neck. Enrique is fully vetted, even bloodwork and a dental with 15 teeth removed, ouch. Enrique is great in the car and on a leash. He is truly a dog that you can easily take anywhere and even housetrained. He does need help getting into the bed so will bark to let you know he wants up. Snuggling, snoozing and snacking are Rique’s favorite pastimes, and he loves a little play time. He is content to stay in bed or explore the town. Enrique is fostered in Vero Beach, and his fee is $350. Visit www.nakedkissesdogrescue.org to read our policies and to apply.    December 18, 2024, 4:21 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Rosalee, a vibrant Chi mix with a unique coat of red, black, white, and even some cool-looking blonde patches. I’m a spry little lady at just 1 year old and a light 17lbs. I’m spayed, up to date on all my vaccinations, and heartworm negative. I’m a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with other dogs and children. I have spina bifida, which means I can’t be potty trained, but that doesn’t stop me from running and jumping joyfully. I’ve also had surgery for a luxating patella and have recovered beautifully, completing all my physical therapy like a champ. I’m looking for a family that will embrace my energetic spirit and my special needs with open arms. If you’re looking for a companion who’s full of life and love, I might just be the perfect addition to your home. Let’s make every day together a beautiful adventure! I am being fostered in Hampton, VA but can be transported to nearby areas for a well-fitting and supportive home. You must be 21 or older to apply. Fill out an application today if you think we might be a match!

Story
PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - HOLT BREED - Chihuahua/Pug mix SIZE - About 12 pounds AGE - about 5 years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Holt is a lovely fellow! He's super sweet and loves to play, and he also loves to cuddle and snuggle (under blankets when he can). This perfect mix of chihuahua and pug came to us from a breeding situation with several other dogs. Holt absolutely adores people and is good with other well-behaved small dogs. His foster mom reports he is good on a leash and potties outside! He's not a big fan of the outdoors nor does he like being out in public. Fully grown at about 12 pounds, he is a perfect size for most homes! Holt is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. We seek a home with an adopter able to spend quality time with this amazing dog. A home without small children and larger pets, and with a fenced, secure yard is a must. He would make a wonderful addition to a senior citizen's home providing they are able to give independent care. Holt came to us with luxating patellae (knee caps that slip out of joint). This is a common condition in small dogs. Severe cases, left untreated, can cause horrible arthritis. Holt had a moderate to severe case on the left side, and a much less concerning case on the right side. In 2024 the left side was surgically corrected and Holt was back up and running. Because he was still with us, we elected to have the right side corrected in February, 2025. These surgeries will afford Holt a wonderful future! Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Petinquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs Holt and matches our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Holt dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.

Story
Anna is a 9 year old, 10lb adorable Chug (chihuahua/pug mix) who has endured some big human turmoil recently and ended up in a Middle Tennessee shelter. Not much is known of her history, but her underweight condition indicates at least some neglect took place. A really devoted foster mom for critter.Cavalry turquoise noticed her profile in the shelter and realize that being a senior she might not be chosen very easily by the general public.  This young foster woman is making sure that Anna is gaining much needed weight slowly.  She’s starting to put on weight and enjoys her meal times-with the occasional treat of whipped cream. While she is timid at first and a little wary of quick movements, it doesn’t take long for her to warm up and become your best snuggle buddy. Anna has some spunk and can run up stairs as fast as any puppy. She seems to be good with other dogs and initiates playing, though she doesn’t know what to do with toys. She does well on a leash and going outside. She is catching on to potty training (another example of her neglected past) and we are wanting someone who works from home or is retired as she does exhibit some separation anxiety in her first week with us.  She has found the cozy comforts of warm blankets and fluffy pillows and burrows underneath.  Anna has lots of love to give and deserves  a family to spoil her.   Please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comFebruary 18, 2025, 12:12 pm

Story
This gorgeous munchkin is a nugget of cuteness and is called Rollo, a small-ish mixed breed boy born at the beginning of January to a 12 pound long haired Chiweenie momma. At the moment, and at ten weeks of age, he is nine pounds, and so we estimate him to be headed to an adult weight of 25-30 pounds. Rollo has an unusual multi-colored nose and eyes that make him look like he is wearing eyeliner - he is truly unique.  What is immediate and obvious to see is that he has a very outgoing personality and loves everyone. Recently he participated in a puppy yoga class at the YMCA along with his siblings and several other puppies. Oh what fun he had running from person to person, keeping everyone entertained. After giving him this exposure, we can confidently say that he loves people, other dogs, and does well in unfamiliar situations. The class included men, women, children and unfamiliar puppies much larger than him. He did well with all. Rollo loves his toys and will gather them around him on his blanket next to the heating vent where he takes his naps. Rollo has a start on his potty training, consistently going to the same spot and using a potty mat by the door, completing his training should not be difficult.  Rollo will be up for any adventure you want to take him on and is ready to be your best buddy the last weekend of March.  He can transport northward on our transport van from Nashville.Tennessee, where we stop at different transport stops to the northeast.  Please write to us, add Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 20, 2025, 7:16 am
