Story
...Bucklie`s story with us began back in December 2025 when he was surrendered by his owner alongside six other Chihuahuas after his family was no longer able to care for them.He is neutered and ready to go home today!About a month and a half after arriving at the shelter, Bucklie—formerly known as Socket—found what everyone hoped would be his forever home. Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, he has found himself back in our care once again after his adopters were no longer able to continue caring for him. We`d really love for Bucklie`s next home to be his true fur-ever home.At just 14 pounds, Bucklie is a little guy with a gentle heart. Shelter life can be overwhelming for some dogs, and Bucklie tends to be on the shy and reserved side while he`s here. Although we cannot confirm or deny these claims ourselves, his most recent owner shared that once he`s comfortable in a home environment, he really begins to come out of his shell. They also shared that he is potty trained, kennel trained, does well with other dogs, prefers being carried over walking on a leash, and may not be the best fit for a home with children.Bucklie is still adjusting to being back at the shelter, and we`re hopeful that the right family will see past his shy exterior and give him the patience and understanding he needs to settle in again. Sometimes the sweetest companions just need a little extra time to feel safe.Bucklie`s adoption fee is $50. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. Our shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Holds, deposits, and pre-adoptions are not allowed. Animals may transfer to other shelters or rescues at any time.Come meet Bucklie today and help make sure his next home is his forever one!

Story
Meet Sven! Born October 4, 2015 Sven is a male chi/terrier mix who is great with cats, kids and other dogs. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Sven’s foster mom describes him as a loyal, happy and healthy dog who would be a great addition to any family. He sleeps in his foster mom's room but on his own bed. He is still working on his potty training-it wasn’t a focus in his former home so he still has accidents. Sven’s best fit home is one that will have patience for training and one who appreciates a dog that likes nothing more than being with his person. We prefer a home with a secure fenced yard and if children are present in the home that they be over age 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com/adoption-application

Story
Kovu is a young, spirited, and curious little guy who is ready to see more of the world beyond apartment walls. At around 9–10 months old and just 15 lbs, he’s the perfect compact adventure buddy with a big personality. Kovu brings a fun, energetic vibe wherever he goes and is looking for a home that will embrace his enthusiasm for life and help him channel it into positive experiences. 💛 HISTORY Kovu has spent his life so far living in an apartment, and while he’s done well in that environment, he’s more than ready to stretch his legs and explore new places, sights, and smells. His DOB is listed as 06/18/2025. Kovu is fostered in Tri-Cities, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. He is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet him before you decide he should join your family! SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING Kovu is an outgoing, high-energy young dog who thrives around other playful pups. He absolutely loves having canine friends and does best with dogs who can match his energy level and don’t mind a little extra enthusiasm in play. He can be a bit pushy when meeting new dogs, but with proper introductions and continued guidance, he settles in and enjoys having a buddy to romp around with. He would do best in an active home that’s excited to include him in daily adventures, whether that’s walks, hikes, play sessions, or learning new skills together. Kovu is eager to engage and will benefit from structure, consistency, and outlets for both his physical and mental energy. Kovu is still learning the basics of life outside of an apartment setting. New environments, experiences, and routines will all be part of his continued growth. With patience and positive reinforcement, he has all the potential to become a well-rounded companion. He is still a young dog and would greatly benefit from training classes to help him build confidence, learn manners, and strengthen his bond with his future family. It’s important to remember: Kovu is still very much a young dog, and YOUNG DOGS ARE HARD WORK! He’s full of energy, curiosity, and a little bit of mischief. He may test boundaries, get overly excited, or need reminders about appropriate behavior as he learns. He may get into things he shouldn’t, forget his manners, or have bursts of wild energy—that’s all part of this stage of life. Please do not apply to adopt Kovu unless you are ready to provide the time, patience, and consistency needed to help him grow into a well-mannered adult dog. HEALTH STATUS General info Kovu has just begun his vaccination series, has been dewormed, and is microchipped. He is pending neuter. He appears to be a healthy young dog and will likely remain around 15 lbs full grown. ADOPTION The adoption fee for Kovu is $425. Our process starts with an online application and may take a few days to a week to complete. We appreciate your patience while we do our part. To apply to adopt Kovu, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-124 or email HearthfireART@gmail.com to request an adoption application form. HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters’ privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

Story
Born February 20th 2026 -(yes, they were born into our rescue 😊) Marina is female Chihuahua/ Shih-Tzu mix, and she is seeking her forever family. At 7 weeks old, she is still exploring his surroundings and learning about the world. She will need a family willing to put the training work in-potty training is coming along (She is pad trained) and she is crate trained. Marina gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and is cat friendly. She will be small when full grown, for that reason if there are children in the home; we ask that they be over age 5 We will give preference to a home with fully fenced yard.

Story
Meet Fendi! This adorable Chihuahua, born October 4, 2023 has the sweetest underbite you've ever seen and weighs in at approx. 13 pounds. She has been well socialized in her foster home with other dogs, however has not been around cats. Fendi is potty trained (does her business outside and when she can't uses a potty pad). She's also crate trained. Although she comes across as shy at first, once she knows you are her friend, she is the most loyal and affectionate pup you could ever have! Fendi would love a home with another canine buddy (but not required), a family / person who will include her in fun activities, continue training her (she's smart and eager to learn), and one in which she's not left for extended periods of time. She's happiest with her people
