Story
MEET PAQUITA!!! Paquita was found wandering in Phoenix, so there is no known history. She is about 5-6 years old and just the cutest little snuggle bug. She bonds quickly and loves lounging on the couch with her people and a soft blanket. Paquita's perfect forever home would be with someone who is retired or works from home as she does have mild separation anxiety.  Paquita is leash trained, house trained and crate trained. She prefers a quiet, calm home. Currently she lives with four small foster friends and does fine with them, but she does not appreciate roughhouse play. If you're looking for a loving, calm lap dog, then Paquita's the girl for you! Story
Approximate Date of Birth:4/29/2021 Description:   I was named Crystal Gayle because I LOVE to sing. I usually do it to get your attention, but I like to sing even when I have your attention, to show my love for you! I am not loud, it is a quiet, subtle little howl that sometimes sounds like a squeak, but I am working on it! Maybe you can teach me to sing better? I love to go for walks and car rides. I will follow you around the house, just in case you need some entertainment along the way. Can you be my partner! Words to Describe Me: Sweet - Mellow - Very Affectionate - Silly - Energetic - Favorite Place to Sleep: I like to be in your lap, as much as possible. But I would settle for being next to you as well, as long as I am touching you. Favorite Toy: I am still figuring out if I like them or not. Perfect Day: My perfect day would consist of lots of snuggling and letting me sing for your attention. Doggy's Likes: I like just about everything, as long as I am with you. Doggy's Dislikes: I don't like being ignored. I will sing to get your attention. Fastest Way to Get Me to Wag My Tail: Just look my way, I can read your mind... Favorite Treat: I like all of them. I know the sound of those treat bags and my big ears will hear it, no matter how quiet you try to be! Job Title in Foster: The Entertainer - Crystal Gayle LOVES to sing to anyone that will listen. When I Grow Up, I Want to Be: A professional singer, like my name sake. Good with Cats:    Likes cats given a proper introduction.  Good with Dogs:   Loves dogs.    Good with Children:   Can live in a house with children over the age of 8.     Companion Animal:Not necessary.  Health information: All dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive vaccinations appropriate for age, preventative deworming, and microchipping prior to adoption as appropriate by age. Adoption Process:     Our adoptable animals are located in foster homes. We require interested parties to apply prior to meeting to ensure a good match.  Applications can be submitted on our website at  www.savingonelife.org/adopt/apply .    February 23, 2024, 11:38 am

Story
Ralph is an 8-year-old long haired Chihuahua mix. He is a big lover, and nothing makes him happier than to cuddle up with you on a nice warm blanket on the couch. He loves to follow you around the house like a little puppy and will happily follow you outside. To Ralph, being with his person 24/7 is what life’s all about. Ralph would do well as an only pet in the household as he can be a bit possessive of his person. He previously lived with other dogs his size but did tend to dominate the household. He currently lives with a very sweet Shih Tzu and cat, but he unfortunately doesn’t get along with them. Not an overly active pup, Ralph enjoys spending a significant amount of time sleeping on the couch. He is a little hard of hearing and can startle easily if he doesn’t know you are there. He does prefer that he be lifted off the couch even though he is perfectly capable of jumping off. Thus, showcasing his more dramatic side. He recently had dental work which removed the last of his 3 remaining teeth. He eats wet food but can eat a little dry kibble. His foster mom reports that he is a very messy eater, pulling his food out of his dish. He’ll look up at you as if to say, “hey, you would do the same if you didn’t have any teeth!”. Ralph is also pee pad trained which makes it easy to clean up if you do have to leave the house for an extended period. Ralph is a heartworm survivor. He successfully completed heartworm treatment last month. He and another dog from the same family were diagnosed when we pulled them from the shelter in September of last year. He did very well and tested negative in January. We do recommend that his adopter keep up with heartworm preventatives and do annual heartworm testing. With all our rescues, Ralph has been fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He has gone through our Senior Animal Wellness Program which provides a more thorough exam due to his senior status. He has additionally been tested for tick fever, had a urinalysis and x-rays. Medical records will be provided upon adoption.
