Meet Lucky – A Gentle Soul with a Big Heart and an Even Bigger Love for Cuddles! At 10 years young and a perfect 15 pounds, Lucky is all about life’s simple pleasures—cozy naps, belly rubs, leisurely strolls, and plenty of love. He’s neutered, microchipped, and ready to bring comfort, companionship, and quiet joy into your life.Lucky is a mellow little gentleman who needed a little time to decompress. With a patient approach and a calm environment, he quickly settled in and showed his sweet, affectionate nature. He did beautifully with both his trainer and transporter, and even had his ears cleaned without a fuss—proof that with kindness and trust, he’s truly a cooperative little guy.Grooming isn’t his favorite, but with a gentle hand (and maybe a professional groomer), he can still look and feel his best without the stress. This schnauzer mix has been through a lot and deserves a forever home that understands the quiet magic of older dogs. Lucky thrives with gentle, respectful people and will reward you with his loyalty, snuggles, and those soulful eyes that say “thank you.”If you`re looking for a calm, cuddly companion with a dash of quirky charm, Lucky might be your perfect match. He may not be into spa days, but he’s 100% into YOU.

Story
Buttercup is a sassy little chihuahua mix who is approx. 6-7 years young and 14 lbs. This sassy but adorable girl is searching for her perfect person. Background: For several months, Buttercup and her pals were living on the streets and being fed by people in the neighborhood. As a result, she gets nervous around new people and it takes a while for her to trust you. Personality: Buttercup takes a while to warm up to people. Once she selects you as her person, her excitement to see you begins to show through tail and body wags, talking to you, jumping on you, but will shy away when you try to pet her. She is wary of new people, but we are working on her socialization skills and she is making progress. Once you break through and earn her trust, which may take up to 6 months, Buttercup will reluctantly allow you to do short back and butt scratches, will shadow you, and sleep near you. Buttercup is food motivated and enjoys treats (although she doesn't like fruits or vegetables). In her free time, Buttercup enjoys going for walks, sunning herself in the backyard, and hanging out with other household dogs. Health: Buttercup is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She does have seasonal allergies and is on medicine. Training: Buttercup is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. She does not use a dog door. She knows the commands: come, crate, and leave it. Ideal Home: Buttercup requires a special home with love, patience, and a family who will continue to work on her confidence-building. Since she tends to snap when she is scared, Buttercup would thrive in a child-free home with a confident female owner who will be patient and help her break out of her comfort zone. She is used to being around other dogs in her foster home, and does best with calm small to medium size dogs. Buttercup likes someone to accompany her when she goes outside. A secure, fenced-in yard is essential to ensure her safety. She learns from other dogs and would benefit in a home with another dog that will allow her to cuddle and share their crate. Adoption Requirements : Buttercup’s adoption fee is $350. If you think Buttercup is the dog for you please review the following adoption requirements.   Must live in the Phoenix metro area Must have a securely fenced yard Ideally have a dog companion for Buttercup to bond with.  If you are interested in Buttercup please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  August 6, 2026, 9:24 pm

Story
Meet Crystal and Missy Bonded Pair!  Crystal (3 years old, 11 pounds) and Missy (6 years old, 7 pounds) are a bonded pair looking for a loving home together after their owner had to make the difficult decision to surrender them to Help A Dog Smile Rescue.  Both girls can be a little shy with new people but once you earn their trust, they become incredibly loyal, affectionate and loving companions. Crystal and Missy enjoy the best of both worlds-snuggling on the couch under cozy blankets or pillows (usually together) as well as having playful bursts of energy. Crystal and Missy are house-trained, walk nicely on the leash and well-mannered in the home. Both pups can be a bit picky with traditional dog food and tend to prefer fresh foods like chicken or beef along with their favorite treats and chicken jerky.  If you are looking for two sweet souls who will fill your home with unconditional love, cuddles and companionship, Crystal and Missy are your dynamic duo!  Both Missy and Crystal are spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Missy also had a recent dental.  Their adoption fee of $450 for both dogs, helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think they could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/ . *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Hi everyone! My name is Baby and I am a sweet, laid-back 12-year-old, 8-pound female Apple Head Chihuahua. As a senior, I am looking for a quiet home. I can be cautious with strangers at first, but I warm up quickly—especially if treats are involved. Once I trust you, I am a loyal and protective companion. I enjoy keeping you company when you are home, but I am not a "velcro dog"; I am perfectly well-behaved and calm when you need to step out for errands.   I am a vocal girl and will bark to alert you if someone is at the door or in the yard, so I would do best in a single-family home rather than an apartment or condo. My foster mom has been working on my manners, and I have made great progress; I no longer bark at birds, other neighborhood dogs, or outside noises.   I am house-trained, though I do not use a dog door. Because of my size, I need to be supervised while outdoors. My favorite routine is a nice morning walk (about a half-mile is perfect for my little legs) followed by a long nap in my bed or sitting next to you while you watch TV. I get along well with the small dogs in my foster home, though I don’t play as much as I used to. My ideal forever home would have one or two other senior dogs, but I would also be happy as an only pet.   I previously had trouble walking due to my knees, but I have had surgery on both and can now walk and run pain-free! I am also on daily heart medication (Furosemide and Pimobendan), which I take easily. My heart condition is well-managed and does not limit my daily activities.   Baby is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee of $200 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up. August 6, 2026, 9:24 pm
