PATCHES was spayed 11/28/18 at Servicios Medicos Veterinarios, Sonora, Dr. Martin Figueroa DVM.PATCHES has been diagnosed with "Masticatory Muscle Myositis" (also called Eosinophilic Myositis), an autoimmune disorder that causes the muscles in her jaw to freeze up. She currently can open her mouth only about 3/8 inch wide, and is getting a diet of special soft food.This is not surgically treatable. This condition requires long term medical care, and probably cannot be cured. Patches is now on prednisone and antibiotics. UPDATE: " PATCHES' myositis is currently stable, she is not on medication at this time. She has been on numerous protocols of steroids and antibiotics without significant improvement. If the myositis continues to be stable, she may have a normal life span. If her condition deteriorates she will require additional medical care, including medications, and that could impact her longevity. There is no further cure or surgical procedure available at this time. She has been seen by 4 vet clinics, including the most qualified specialists in Arizona.PATCHES is available for adoption as a Special Needs dog, shown by appointment only to avoid stress of adoption site. (Adoption application in advance required).

He's extremely skittish. The foster is probably the only one that can pick him up, and we have probably had him for about a year now. He's also scared of men and children. He needs someone that will be absolutely committed to spending a lot of one on one time with him.

Foster Notes: OZZY is a high energy, sweet dog. He is affectionate with his foster parents and gets along with other dogs in the foster home, although he may be selective with the dogs he chooses to play with. He is active and uses the doggy door to go in and out and likes to snuggle under the sheets when ready to rest. Since he is part Chinese Crested it would be best if a potential adopter is familiar with the special needs of a hairless breed. Ozzy can be selective with people as well and would do best in a home without children under 12yrs.

Foster Notes: Honey came from a home where she was never socialized by anyone. The dogs only had scraps of food to eat. They were kept in the backyard, but had no dog houses, or bedding. Not even former owners could catch any of the dogs when they surrendered them to us. Honey is doing well now and is full of energy, very playful, but can be very possessive when it comes time to go to bed, with other dogs, as she wants to sleep right next to her person, face up on her back, belly up and exposed.

Foster Notes: He is still skittish and making very slow progress but he does want to be pet, and wants to play, just doesn't know how to play with people. He will come to get food from your hand, and is very gentle at taking it from your fingers. He's great with other dogs, just not very trusting of people. He needs someone that has lots of patience and time to spend with only him to help him understand that not everyone will keep him outside and never pay attention to him. He is young and has energy. To the person that adopts him, once you gain his trust and love, you will be his everything!

Hi, I'm Emma. I had a rough start in life, but I'm doing great now. I'm always in a good mood, unless I'm chasing the birds in my back yard--then, I'm pretty fierce. I love to play retrieving my toys but also love to watch TV with my foster parent. I love everyone--dogs and humans. It doesn't matter if you're short or tall, I'm not intimidated at all. I was very skinny when I got here and still am on the slim side (10 lbs.), but I do like my food and like to graze a little all day. I've learned the doggy door and fly out of it 100 times a day going after whatever I think is out there. My voice is a little high-pitched because I am almost deaf and can be a bit "barky". The vet said that he thinks I have a lot of birth defects that affect my balance and make my back end a little weak. Because my teeth are out of line and some are missing, my tongue sticks out. I haven't been around kids at all so I don't know how good I'll be with them, but I'd say that young children would not be good for me.

FOSTER NOTES: Meet PACO, A true Legend in his own mind. Paco can do it all, He is the perfect comfort dog & is highly skilled in teaching the art of belly rubs and snuggles. He has the cutest shovel jaw/under bite and is committed to being your loyal shadow where ever you may go. Who needs a doorbell when you have Paco guaranteed to alert you two seconds b4 the doorbell rings. He will keep your seat warm while you go to the potty OR he can be your potty patrol support tech AND Paco will keep watch while you enjoy your meal in order to make sure you eat every bite...treats appreciated. Very sweet little boy, He needs someone who is home all day, a retired couple with another playful buddy would be perfect for this little sweetheart. notation his left eye is underdeveloped (a congenital birth defect) Foster says, "that he cannot see out of his eye". He requires drops 3 times per day. MEDICAL NOTE: PACO has been diagnosed with congenital irritable esophagus; excessive barking may cause chronic coughing. Paco may need occasional ongoing Veterinary care and possibly medication when irritation occurs. Will need health waiver at adoption. Foster never leaves him alone and takes with her whenever she goes out.
