Story
Foster Update: He’s still a bit skittish and making slow progress, but deep down, he wants love. He enjoys pets and shows interest in play—he’s just not sure how to do it with people yet. He gently takes food from your hand and is great with other dogs, but he’s still learning to trust humans. He needs someone patient, with plenty of time to dedicate just to him, to show him that life can be full of love and attention. He’s young, energetic, and has so much potential. To the person who earns his trust, you’ll mean the world to him!

$150.00 adoption fee for the month of December! Honey has been in foster care for over two years! Lets help her find her forever home!Sweet little Honey has come such a long way! She didn’t have the easiest start in life—she came from a home where she wasn’t socialized and had to share scraps of food with other dogs. With no shelter or bedding, she learned to be pretty independent. Even her former owners couldn’t catch her when she came to us!Now, Honey is thriving and full of playful energy. She loves to bounce around, but when bedtime comes, she’s a total snuggle bug! Honey likes to be right next to her person, belly up and completely adorable. She can get a little possessive of her bedtime spot with other pups, but she’s just a girl who knows what she loves—a cozy cuddle and all your heart!

Story
PATCHES was spayed 11/28/18 at Servicios Medicos Veterinarios, Sonora, Dr. Martin Figueroa DVM.PATCHES has been diagnosed with `Masticatory Muscle Myositis` (also called Eosinophilic Myositis), an autoimmune disorder that causes the muscles in her jaw to freeze up. She currently can open her mouth only about 3/8 inch wide, and is getting a diet of special soft food. This is not surgically treatable. This condition requires long term medical care, and probably cannot be cured. Patches is now on prednisone and antibiotics. UPDATE: ` PATCHES` myositis is currently stable, she is not on medication at this time. She has been on numerous protocols of steroids and antibiotics without significant improvement. If the myositis continues to be stable, she may have a normal life span. If her condition deteriorates she will require additional medical care, including medications, and that could impact her longevity. There is no further cure or surgical procedure available at this time. She has been seen by 4 vet clinics, including the most qualified specialists in Arizona.PATCHES is available for adoption as a Special Needs dog, shown by appointment only to avoid stress of adoption site. (Adoption application in advance required).

Story
Santa came early to SAFE Animals! OZZY, who has been patiently waiting in foster care for over a year, is hoping to find his forever home this holiday season. For the month of December, his adoption fee is reduced to just $100. Let’s make his holiday wish come true!OZZY is a high energy, sweet dog. He is affectionate with his foster parents and gets along with other dogs in the foster home, although he may be selective with the dogs he chooses to play with. He is active and uses the doggy door to go in and out and likes to snuggle under the sheets when ready to rest. Since he is part Chinese Crested it would be best if a potential adopter is familiar with the special needs of a hairless breed. **Ozzy can be selective with people as well and would do best in a home without children under 12yrs.**

Story
Updated Foster Notes: As far as Louis goes - he is not really a small dog. He`s about 30 lbs or more, he`s solid. He`s still somewhat skittish even after the about 2 years that we have had him, but is much better than when we first got him. He`s used to going outside throughout the day through our doggie doors. He sleeps in his own bed, because anything moving under blankets scare him. We don`t do crates.I think that with a person who would dedicate their time to just him, he would be amazing. He is a dog that loves dogs, but people terrify him. He actually socializes our new pups, as he loves to play with other dogs. He doesn`t like children, he will charge, bark and nip at children when they give him their backs. With men he just keeps away from them. He`s beautiful, he is gentle when you hand feed him treats, but he has issues. He needs someone with time, patience and dedicate themselves to him, the person who adopts him shouldn`t have any time restrictions for him to come around. Maybe with just one person and no other dogs around he will come around a little faster. But they will be able to take him to dog parks and know that he will love that interaction.

These pups are in Marana, Arizona too!

Story
T-Bone came to us when his family could no longer care for him. He is estimated around 9 years old and is approximately 12 lbs. He is doing well with the potty routine in his foster home - going outside when his foster dad is home and using puppy pads when he is away at work. He enjoys his yard time and is a big fan of treats! He does have some mild food protectiveness but that is understandable given that there was not enough food at his former home. T-Bone does pretty well on a leash. He does great in a crate and ok in the car. He is timid but very affectionate once he warms up and knows you are safe. He is generally not a big barker. T-Bone is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and also had bloodwork done which looked good! Story
Meet the adorable Vana (also goes by Tinks). She came into the rescue a very neglected, shy and scared little dog. But boy has she made a complete 180 change!! Unfortunately, we don’t know much of her background other than she was found as a stray and in bad condition. She overcame a severe case of mange, double ear infections, and a UTI. When first arriving it was noted that she had very limited to no vision. Upon going to an eye vet specialist, it was determined that she may be able to gain vision back in one of her eyes with aggressive treatment and further diagnosis of possible valley fever. Well, he was right, she does have valley fever. But through great diet, eye drops, and medication for her valley fever, she has regained vision in her one good eye and sees great. Tinks is feeling so much better and has started to blossom into this wonderful young, spunky, playful girl that she’s always wanted to be. Tinks is estimated as 5 years old and is around 11 lbs. She loves attention, loves to play with and chew on any kind of dog toys/or bones. She gets along with other dogs after an introduction. She’s fine with cats and will try and play with them. She loves people of all sizes. She’s slowly learning to enjoy lap time and will come and ask for pets and belly rubs. She’s a little timid of the car, but over time would probably adjust just fine. She’s ok on a leash, but we haven’t spent much time with training, but I think with some patience she’ll figure it out. She’s housebroken and sleeps great through the night. This sweet girl is ready to find that wonderful home where she’ll be loved and cherished for the rest of her days. She will be on eye drops for life and will require at least an annual trip to Eye Care of Animals for a check up. She’s currently being treated for Valley Fever and is responding great to the medication.
