Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Willis is a Winner!   Adoption fee:  $400.00     Willis is a 4-5 years old Chinese Crested mix and weighs 6ish lbs.  He is a sweet little guy and a bit quirky.  He LOVES his crate!  Apparently he was always kept in a crate or a pen and allowed some time with his person.  He now is very cat like in that when he wants affection he is all over you then poof gone to his crate.  If I close the crate he stays with me. He is NOT housebroken but getting much better about going outside.  I do not think he ever had the opportunity to go out before.  He is good about his belly band and wearing cloth.  He will use a pad to poop but is a leg hiker. He is getting better on lead but will try and back out so his harness needs to be very secure.  He loves car rides and will lay quietly in his bed in the seat next to you.  He is good with other dogs...no idea on cats but suspect would be fine. He is still super jumpy but I think that is just his personality.  He reminds me of a whippet the way he jumps.    He had 2 hernia repairs and is all healed and done with his meds and is fully vetted.  He starts heartworm prevention on June 1st. For now Willis is in Chattanooga, TN, but is scheduled to move to Hickory, NC, for his foster home soon.   Adoption fee: $400.00 Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.   To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.   NOTE: SCMR DOES NOT adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. Luella was nearly full term in her pregnancy when she was abandoned at a local animal shelter. The shelter contacted us and we quickly sent one of our volunteers to pick her up. Luella spent several weeks in a foster home where she gave birth to two tiny puppies. Her puppies have long since been adopted, however Luella has yet to find her forever home.  Now almost two 1/2 years old, this small shy Chihuahua mix prefers the company of women and is fearful of men. Luella would do best in a quiet home with someone that is home most of the day. An independent pup, she just needs to know you are near, not fond of being picked up or cuddled. Give her a good meal and a warm bed and she is perfectly content. Most of her day is spent just following you around the house or taking naps. The perfect roommate, she will listen to your troubles for hours and never complain. Luella is housebroken and enjoys having a fenced-in backyard she can explore. She had access to a doggy door in her foster home and enjoyed the freedom of being able to come and go as she pleased. Luella can be snippy with other dogs, but does do well with cats. If you’re looking for a small quiet companion that is easy to care for, Luella would be a good choice. We have a special pair of Chihuahua mixes that need a new home. An elderly gentleman had to move in with his daughter but was not able to take his beloved pets. Ginger and Buster are understandably confused and miss their Papa and the comforts of home. They are a little timid at first, but quick to warm up once they know you are trustworthy. Both are searching for a home full of love and maybe a few treats. Buster asked for that last item! To be honest, he’s a bit pudgy and should lose a few pounds. We had to look twice when he stepped on the scale and it registered twenty-seven pounds. At fourteen years of age, Buster has earned a few indulgences but within reason. Some low-cal snacks and additional laps around the block would help him shed the extra weight. His girlfriend Ginger is more petite and weighs less than eleven pounds. She adores Buster and the two are seldom apart. They are a sweet and gentle bonded pair that loves each other dearly. These two are perfect for an adult or family with older children that are home most of the day. Ginger and Buster are housebroken and accustomed to having a fenced in backyard. They get along well with both dogs and cats.
